  1. Ok, a bit late but here I am. At the moment I have played the scenario until the appearance of the first reinforcements. First thing first, the scenario is a bit demanding for my PC. I have an intel core duo 3,00 GHz and a 4,00 GB RAM and, in order to get a decent amount of fps ( 20 per second) I had to set the game down to average/average. Anyway, let’s get down to serious business. I like the idea of starting the scenario with almost no planning to do on my side. Sometimes I ‘m not in the mood of spending 30/45 minutes for a reasonable METT-T. I’ve decided to stick to orders and try to hold all the important buildings until the arrive of the reinforcements, then move the VIPs to safety. The initial mortaring comes as a surprise and the few people hanging around in the parking lot of the embassy scurry for cover. The bombing is no exceedingly intense but, anyway, I spend a couple of turns moving everybody away from the first and the highest floors and ordering hide, too. At the end the results aren’t that bad. Two, three KIA among the militia and a few light wounded. As soon as my troops deem safe take a look outside they realize that things are going to get quite fuzzy in no time. Insurgents are trying to enter in the urban area from two sides and their friends in town are already on the move. The guys moving toward the telly station are quite a lot and look pretty scary. Being used playing as NATO in modern games I’m quite spoiled with highly trained troops with a exaggerated firepower. So I try a bold move moving forward some troops in order to have better fields of fire and hopefully pin the advancing foe. Bad idea. I’m immediately outnumbered and outgunned and the survivors retreat in panic. Same fate for a squad trying to cross the road from the police station to the embassy. After losing a good three squads I decide it’s a better idea stay put and organize a couple of ambushes. This works better, even if not without pain. At the moment, my best asset seems the air force which put some salt on the enemy’s tail. At any rate, up to now the scenario it’s great fun. Fast and furious . I’m planning to play at least a couple of turns a day, if I can.
  2. Thanks gents! gnarly@ Unfortunately not. Those pesky Hinds ( I suspect were two. Do russian choppers work in pair, as a rule?) wreaked havoc for a good 15 minuts stalling my attack before I managed to shot down one.
  3. First time using stingers. Unfortunately with no avail ...
  4. A new campaign for CMA? Now, this is interesting! At the moment I can't help you. even if I would like, since is quite a hectic period at work. But, do be reassured, there still is people following this forum and eager to see some new stuff!
  5. You guys are lucky. Sometimes I suspect I am the only one playing CM sims in all the district.
  6. Well, about this Armor Magazine, the official magazine of the US Army's Armor Branch, has featured an in-depth article about the use of Combat Mission Shock Force as a tactical training tool. Here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=31&Itemid=80 Moreover there are several forumites with previous experience as officers in the army, or still on active duty. Panzerleader, just to say one.
  7. It seems every Army has a surplus of paint. In the '80 we still had the M33 helmet (yes, 33 means 1933) and a guy of the armory told me that they were repainted regularly every 3-4 years.
  8. Since Poesel too was a draftee I jump into the thread. 1 year in the '80 in a artillery rgt. Barracks was so close the yugoslavian border that you almost could throw a stone and hit a "graniciari", yugo's border guards, in the head. Anyway was a really quiet period. There were people of my unit sometimes crossing the border in civilian clothes in order to join some local festival on the other side. Patrol. Yugoslavian hills in the background.
  9. I voted Eastern Nato countries for the first and French for the second but, to be true, I would be quite surprised if they should appear in the first module for real. BTW, last time I read something about Polish Army they had quite a mix of western and soviet equipments. How is the situation now?
  10. Yup! +1 for both. Containers and hescobastions. Containers could come in two flavors, empty and filled with stuff. The second tougher under fire.
  11. Oh, it's just that everybody is excited with Red thunder at the moment.
  12. Another fellow european. Welcome! Following suit, here's my military experience in brief. 1983-84. 1 month at the Basic Training Center, then 3 months at the Signal Army School in Rome. The school was seriously understaffed so we spent more of time in chores and guards than lessons. Finally, I was transferred at the 8 art. rgt. near Trieste taking care of the radios warehouse. There still was some IIWW vintage stuff like US made EE8 field telephones and M1 Garand rifle as personal weapon for rank and file guys. Nevertheless, I really enjoied the whole experience.
  13. Me too! At the moment I'm playing more CMSF than CMFI and Normandy. There are a few people churning out good new scenarios in A-stan and Syria. With the improved engine would be great, I think.
  14. +1 for Repsol idea. Especially in rather large scenarios would be quite useful. Checking 3-4 separated groups every turn take some time and, on the long run, sometimes is a little boring.
  15. At the moment Creta is pretty unlikely, in my opinion, BUT after the release of the last CMFI, uhm, "expansion", it shouldn't be that difficult produce a North Africa 1943 game. Most of the US and British stuff is in CMFI already and Italians need only some more armour.
  16. Jeez! Look at min. 2.45, there is a plane REALLY close the ground!
  17. Common way is using FRAPS, I think.
  18. Don't get it wrong Pascucci. Actually this forum is one of the best I know. No flames wars, usually no trolling etc. Mh, probably one of the reasons is that the average age of the forumites is around 40 ... Ok, there is some sharp tongued guy, but, at the very end, they are all good natured. About the post 8 sept. Italian forces I expect some good stuff relatively pretty soon. Ah, welcome aboard.
  19. "As a service for those two or three forumites whose danish might have become a bit rusty" Thanks! Google translator is a real disaster for anything longer than one sentence one.
  20. Exactly what I needed, step by step explanation. The right thing for somebody like me not very experienced with technological stuff. Just to say, first time I had a telephone installed at home I was 24. Go figure. Thanks Sburke!
  21. Uhm, small indeed. Let's see this image shack...
  22. I see. Thanks for the help! As a first try I'm attaching a image to this post with the forums attachment manager. Just to see the risult...
  23. I'd like to attach some images with my posts but I don't know what's the better format and size. I was thinking jpeg and around 1 Mb. Any suggestion? Thanks!
