  1. You are right, obviously. But this doesn't prevent a player from recon by fire heavily or simply bomb out almost any suspect position. So, at the moment I'm using this sort of rules: 1. a. Fire incoming from a unknown position. Like sniper's fire and the likes. I can guess the general direction by the noise but not a lot more. b. A "?" sign suddenly pop up, but there is not any hostile action yet. There could be insurgents, but I don't know for sure. In this case, hold fire 2. There is some fire incoming from a "?" sign. Return fire with light weapons only and try to identify properly the attackers 3. Enemy symbol, shooting or not. Fire at will! At the moment i have played only the first 30 min of the scenario, so I still can't say a lot. I think I could report on the situation later, maybe with some image, if I manage to understand how FRAPS&MilSketch works...
  2. I've never been in action but, I remember myself running, er trotting, with a pair 250 rounds crates for a MG42/59. After 100-150 meters I was already out of breath. Ammos are heavy!
  3. Thanks Fuzee, it seems very interesting! BTW, the official name of the scenario do is Habibollah Kalay. My fault.
  4. I see. Thanks for the help! BTW, PID is the magic word. I did a short research about the meaning on internet finding this explanation: Positive identification. All soldiers must “positively identify” a person whom they intend to kill as a legitimate combatant. According to the Rules of Engagement, this means that there must be a “reasonable certainty” that the person is displaying hostile intent, or is behaving in a hostile manner, before soldiers may attack. Clear enough, I'd say.
  5. I'm playing right now "Day of days" starring brits in A-stan in 2006. As a theory I have enough firepower to obliterate any and every costruction along my advance lines but, this would probably mean losses among civilians too, and since I want to stay as close as I can to real situation on the field, this is surely a no-go. So, I shoot only when there is at least a "?" sign. Generally speaking, is this close enough to standard NATO ROE or am I too strict? Thanks!
  6. 51! Started CM games with CMAK, uh, I don't remember the year. Got into wargaming in 1980. Served in the Army in the early '80. The average forumite here, I'd say.
  7. A little more about the first movie clip. At around second 10 on, there are two pictures of two M15/42 sheltered in bunkers in the defence line along the Tagliamento river, which is a few kilometers from my town. The whole line, a mix of AT guns and MG nests was dismantled in the early '90 after the end of the cold war. All the vehicles, various models of tanks of the '40 and '50, towed away. Final destination some museum, I hope.
  8. Yup, a pretty large map. I wonder what would be the minimum pc specs in order to play it smoothly.
  9. Oop, sorry, I was talking about two issues only partially related in the same thread. My fault. More exactly: 1. The number of Gill a AT team can acquire from a Fennek. 2. The number of Panzefaust rockets a scout team can acquire from a Fennek. About n°1, since a Gill launcher and three rockets are pretty cumbersome to carry around for two people, the above explanation makes perfectly sense. Well, this one is solved. Thanks, guys! About n°2, I can't understand the reason for, a two people scout team with no other heavy stuff, can acquire only a Panzerfaust launcher and one rocket from a Fennek, no matter how many there are on the vehicle, while they can get up to four in any other vehicle. Any idea about this?
  10. Hm, the problem seem to be in the Fennek itself. About scout units, no matter how many rockets there are in the vehicle, a team can acquire the launcher and only one rocket even if the said team still has a few empy slots. With the AT teams, the maximum number of rockets is three. Well, I presume I'll have take in account a certain shortage of ammos in some situations. It's pretty unlikely to see an extra patch for this, since the developement of CMSF is long time over.
  11. More exactly, I have some problem when I try to acquire Panzerfaust AT rockets or Gill rockets loaded on a Fennek. Usually I cannot acquire all the rockets but just a few. F.I. every recce Fennek has a Panzerfaust and two rockets but I can acquire one only. The other one, do is on the vehicle, but doesn't appear on the acquire list of the recce team. Similar thing with the Gill for the AT teams. Anybody else experienced the same problem?
  12. Just a little correction. The sign should say "Viva l'impero italiano".
  13. Well, as my Latin teacher at junior high said once, anybody speaking italian is a latinist to some degree. Only, usually he doesn't know. Obviously, it works the other way round too. This apart, the scenario sound interesting. Just as a suggestion, what about setting the action the 8 Sept. '43 or little later? Quite a lot of firefight between former allies in that period.
  14. A whole campaign starring DRA army as a main character. Cool! And likely to be pretty challenging. Downloaded yesterday and started battle 1 already. BTW, people seems better equipped than usual, binoculars and also a few night vision gimmicks.
  15. Well, you are right, obviously. But since I've all my CMx2 discs with those nice illustrations onto, it would ruin my collection. I know, it's a kind of feticist attitude. Anyway, after I've read what Moon has written about the matter, I'm going to order CMFI now.
  16. At the moment I haven't ordered CMFI because, since the package is sent from US I'm supposed paying 21% VAT at the postman. Can I presume that, when the phisical manual is sold out, a good deal of copies will be sent to the european warehouse?
  17. I don't know if it has never been published in english but, about this matter, the "must read" book would be "Alamein 1933-1962" by Paolo Caccia Dominioni. He was the commander of the 31° Btg guastatori in North Africa. Ah, there is also a newsreel here. Hm, almost surely staged. Anyway: I'm not sure, but I suspect the commander, the guy wearing the alpini cap could be Caccia Dominioni himself.
  18. +1 for the '80! In order to make the background story more believable the jig could start during the war scare in Oct-Nov 1983.
  19. For this kind of problem you'd better send a mail here: www.battlefront.com/helpdesk Usually, they give you the solution in 1-2 days.
  20. That's Santa business. As for me, the 3 modules bundle is just fine. CMSF, I'm coming back!
