  1. About Syrian camo there was a thread with some pictures last month, but really I don't remember the title. Ah, on the matter "breaking the silouette". I remember when I was in the Army we used camouflaged nets with fabric patches simulating trees in order to hide static objects. In that case a radio truck. Now, me and another guy start covering the truck with this stuff, connect it with a nearby tree and add some metal ribs underneath in order to look the silouette less apparent. At the end of the work we were quite satisfied. Sarge comes, take a look at the whole thing and says: "Nice job guys, but there is a mistake. Look at the net on the right". It had the tree shaped patch upside down. How embarrassing...
  2. I, too, use artillery smoke pretty often and I find it very useful. Usually while I wait for the rounds incoming in one sector I keep on attacking in another one just to keep enemy under pressure. The only problem is if my guys ar too close to the target. In, uhm, "Homes in Hims" (?) I had a squd on the roof of a quite tall building and smoke rounds falled on the ground at around 150 meters. Result, one blue killed and two wounded. I learned that smoke can really hurts if used improperly... This apart, the more smoke I have the better.
  3. Mh, even if doctrine has changed in the meanwhile it seems it's common practice anyway have some extra hand granades, just in case. So, here we have the first request for patch 1.22. More grenades, please!
  4. If I remember correctly, in another thread somebody said that in real life there is not the use of carrying extra hand grenades in vehicles because considered excessively dangerous. Can anybody confirm this?
  5. Well, for what that matter I vote for the 80'. Scenarios would be more balanced that any fictional war nowaday. Mh, apart the first 12-24h or so, when WP arty could hit known targets (Alex's MLRS!). And also there would be less guessing about the real performance of a good deal of weapons. Moreover, in the 80' I still was in the Army
  6. I haven't completed the russian campaign, the more likely to contain partisans, but till now I haven't seen anything like that nor heard of from other players. Maybe they can be used when creating new scenarios. Barred the Battle generator, I mean.
  7. Terrible the camouflage of the last truck! Looks like a hippie van.
  8. Yup. Really the changing of the videocard from the 128 of the first announcement to 256 means doom for me. No PT boat for this year. If BTF decided so, surely they have their good reasons but, since looking at the newest videos the quality of imagines doesn't seems changed too much (or at least so it seems to me) I'd be curious to know why now are necessary higher specs.
  9. I see. I'll send a email to the AV program support asap. Thanks everybody for the help! Seriously, I feel relieved...
  10. Avira antivir premium. Really, I don't know too much about this matters, so it could be a false positive. But, how can I understand the difference? Thanks
  11. Hi everybody, I'd like to signal a problem with the Paradox version of CMSF. It seems there is a trojan named TR/Downloader.Gen trojan inside the CMShock force.exe. First I thought it was something slipped from somewhere else so I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled but it seems the thing it is inside the dvd. Same problem with the Paradox patches in the same file. In order to doublecheck I downloaded the BTF version of the 1.20 patch, unzipped and checked with the antivirus. No problem at all. So it seems this is definitely a Paradox problem. Now, personnally I don't mind too much about this. I can dump the paradox version and buy the BTF one, probably when it is released the NATO module;), but I feel that, among some players, this could be a serious blow to BTF reputation even if it is Paradox fault!
  12. I don't know for the German soldiers. But in CMAK all the Italians bear surnames of politicians.
  13. Uhm, I checked again and the situation is like this. Inside the docs folder there is a readme text file with the index of the content of the folder docs itself. This should be: Theatre of War Game Manual.pdf - The original manual shipped with the game Mission and Campaign Editor Manual.mht - Manual for the full Mission and Campaign Editor used to make or edit complex and full featured battles and campaigns Mission Triggers Manual.mht - Overview and information on the use of the advanced trigger scripting system used in Theatre of War missions and campaigns Map Editor Manual.mht - Manual for the full Map Editor used to create, modify and save maps Battle Generator Manual.mht - Manual covering the use of the new Battle Generator utility to make battles quickly Multiplayer Configuration Readme.mht - Manual covering how to configure the various settings in order to optimize multiplayer games and there do are all the documents, except the Map Editor Manual. I tried to guess how to use the map editor without the manual but it seems a pretty complex business. Is there anybody who tried out the map editor and had the same problem? Maybe I should ask this file to the BTF guys? Thanks
  14. Yo. I'm thinking about trying to make a scenario or two by myself. So I checked for the manuals. Strangely I cannot find the Map editor manual anywhere. It isn't in the folder docs where it is supposed to be. First I supposed I had cancelled it by mistake but, checking also the dvd there is not sign of its existence. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Any advice? Thanks
  15. About this subject, if I remember correctly europeans players ordering British module should receive it into a dvd slimcase. Does it mean with a different cover or, er, "anonymous"?
  16. Uhm, concluding. We surely won't see Italian Army in action in CM:SF 1, and probably same thing in CM:SF 2. I add surely no Italians in any CM IIWW before CM North Africa which, at the moment, is only in my dreams. How sad...
  17. Well, the main thing is that now they surely aware of the problem. This mean, I believe, it will be fixed sooner or later. It depends how high is in the priority list. BTW I'd like to see the infamous "things to do" list. An Encyclopaedia Britannica like volume, I presume.
  18. Ah, in the repository, under ToW1. JSH v1.3.2, I think.
  19. I hope so. We'll know pretty soon, I think.
  20. ...crewmen stuck in their vehicle? I mean, when a AFV is hit, survivors bail out and look for cover. But, for what I know, I have no way to know if people remained inside is dead or just wounded. Moreover, if there is somebody wounded there is no way to give him buddy aid, and that means lower chances to survive the battle. Am I missing something? Thanks
  21. I read this thread only now. Bit late. Anyway, Polish apart, if somebody is interested, in August 1942 there was a pretty famous (in Italy) charge of the Savoia cavalry during the russian campaign. They charged straight a regiment of soviet infantry several times, routing them and taking around 500 prisoners. If you want know something more about it the look for Carica di Isbuschenskij "Isbuschenskij charge" on Google. But the very last charge for Italian army was in January 1943 in Yugoslavia. But I think in was a squadron level.
  22. Uh? Do you mean the infantry behaviour in ToW2 is worse than in ToW?
  23. Just completed the scenario named "Nightstalker" of the base game campaign. Now, in the southeast part of the map there is a farm labeled as "Clear compound". It seems that the southern wing of the larger construction has no exits at all. I noticed because when I ordered some infantry to check the place they refused flatly. No door neither inside nor outside. Maybe there is somebody immured... Ok, it isn't very important for the flow of the game but I thought it could be a useful information for people who haven't still played this scenario.
  24. Just bought the bundle. Since it's too heavy in order to be downloaded eagerly waiting for the hard stuff.
