  1. very nice Umlaut ! Great video, great soundtrack and great town. LF
  2. I have an idea for a scenario or even a campaign. In late March 1944 the town of Kovel (Kowel) was surrounded by the soviets and a rescue operation was planned by the germans. The first strong armoured unit to arrive was 8. Kompanie/II./SS.-Pz.-Regt 5 (in 5. SS Pz. Div. "Wiking" the second Bn. was the Panther Bn.) under command of Nicolussi-Leck with 17 new Panther A's, at Lukov (Maciejow) trainstation on 27.03.1944, and was ordered to follow the double railroad track towards Kovel. The 8. Kompanie was guarded on each side of the tracks by a infantry Bn. and the infantry had some StuG. The rest of the Panzer Regiment was to follow and together with Wehrmacht units drive on to Kovel. But this will have to wait for a module with Waffen SS units and snow on the ground, it could be some fun and interesting battles to play, I for one like snowcovered battlegrounds. LF.
  3. Quote: "I think I'm going to play Gog and Magog again next week. It was juuuust starting to get good! Hopefully this time I can do it with King Tigers instead of Tigers." I will surely watch that, its time to give 1st Ukranian Front a bloody nose.
  4. I'm very much looking forward to that Benpark. LF
  5. I'm glad you are working on maps for RT, Benpark. I think your Ortona map is total masterclass ! LF
  6. George M. Nipe, Jr. "Last victory in Russia" The SS-Panzerkorps and Mansteins brilliant Kharkov counteroffensive february-marts 1943.
  7. I think Bil is using the HUNT command on the last movement, when the SMG team has passed the ford and the ground becomes level with the treeline he starts the hunt command, thats what I would do. This is great stuff Bil ! the way you use the terrain.
  8. There are some very good maps of Poland down to 1:25000 on this site: http://english.mapywig.org/news.php
  9. "2. Poor Command & Control capabilities. Lack of radios and comparatively weak junior leadership means it's easier to break C2, which in turn means problems for morale. Additionally, many leadership elements consist of 1-3 men, so the chances of having the HQ wiped out in one shot is pretty good." I think this will be the "killer" playing the soviet side in the game. Their will be fewer units to call in off-board artillery and maybe it will also take longer to get it in. If you have to use some HQ teams as forward observers it will damage command and control this will be very interesting to see when the game comes out. Still, I think I will play the soviet side more often than the german side if you look at the armour, the T34/85 and SU85 which was pretty common by June 1944 where better Tanks than the M4 Sherman. And the firepower from the SMG Company, I can't wait to see that in acton.
  10. Always looking forward to your AAR, Bil Hardenberger. What about morale and experience of your troops ? I always select : Regular, experience +1 (some armoured units 0) and morale +1, and it will be interesting to se difference to US and British units. LF
  11. You are absolute right Umlaut, I have just found it : Submit file it says ! thanks. LF
  12. Hi Umlaut Thanks for the fast reply ! The title will be "MG No country for tanks" to be more accurate and I've been in the repository to look for places to upload, so I will try again. LF
  13. I'm a big fan of all that Paper Tiger have made for us and if people don't like it they can just make their own missions/campaigns. When I saw that the bonus mission of The road to Nijmegen was not made I started on my own version and its called "No country for tanks" about the Irish Guards trying to smash through the german lines between Lent and Elst and with the new mastermaps I "only" had to make OOB + AI to complete and some playtesting. LF
  14. Hi guys How do I upload scenario to the repository ? My first scenario called "No country for tanks" are almost done i'm playtesting at the moment so will soon be done. LF
  15. The first time I played the Deelshurk bridge scenario I also found it very tough, but the second time I played it I changed my tactics. SPOILER ALERT for those who havent played this scenario yet. The inf. Company that is available at the start of the mission I moved through the woods on the right side of hells highway towards the farm complex Venbergse farm and at the same time blasting Aardehus and de Stenenburghoeven with my armoured cars (I KO'ed the 20 mm. In Aardehus with 81 mm mortars) now storm the hedges on the south and eastern sides on Venbergse using 50 mm. mortars and the company HMG team as covering fire and was just in time as when I arrived at the hedges german SS soldiers was also just arriving and I killed them all in a few minutes. After securing Venbergse I moved on to Hendrikshoeve and the same happened again as I got there the germans did to and I killed all SS soldiers and a SPW. Now the second inf. Coy. have arrived and I moved them on the left side of hells highway through the woods and dashed towards Stenenburghoeven covered by my shermans. Now with only Steenen bridge OBJ. Missing I took my piat teams out to destroy the 2 SP on the right side cowering the road. After the 2xSP was KO my right flank was secure I raced my shermans to the edge of Stenenburghoeven while preparing a smokescreen and the rest of my arty on top of Steenen bridge OBJ. Moved 2 shermans slowly on the right side of the road to get flanking shoots on the SP at Steenen bridge got a total victory and more important a lot of fun while playing this mission. LF
  16. Thanks for doing this George MC, I'm looking forward to this because all of your work is great. LF
  17. This looks interesting, thanks for the link. LF
  18. The Typhoons that supported the Irish Guards on the 17.09.1944 during the XXX Corps breakout came in pretty close, this is from 2nd (Armd) Bn. Irish Guards war diary : "Our tanks burnt yellow smoke abundantly and though the rockets landed within 100 yds of them, there was never any likelihood of a mistake, so sure was the pilots’ aim"
  19. I have also seen that, now I only use area target if the area is very far away from my own troops, 1 km. or so. LF.
  20. I want forward observers in canadian Ram tanks, thats it. LF
  21. Thanks for the replay and many many thanks on a superb campaign , PT Your maps are absolutely fantastic and all battles great fun and very difficult to win (as they should be) let me mention "here we fight" and "turning back the tide" infantry battles with some scary close combat, but the ones I looked most forward to were the Irish Guards battles and it was some great and interesting battles with the micks. LF
  22. I'm also really looking forward to this scenario, I think all your battles are great Combatintman. LF
  23. Hi all I just finished this campaign with an major allied victory but there was no bonus mission, has anyone tried the bonus mission ? LF
