  1. I'm not an expert on late war western front equipment but I'm trying hard to think of enough significant new units after June 1944 that you'd need a whole new title to represent them. I just hope the first title dosen't get neglected as each new toy comes out, I'm just a little concerned that if the titles become too fragmented it will make for a weaker online community.
  2. What is the quality of the FO? And what sort of arty is it? Usually the larger calibre stuff takes alot longer. Syrians always seem to have a disadvantage in this respect possibly to reflect their poorer comunications systems?
  3. Vulture, Yes I'm not trying shoot and scoot as such more just trying to get my tank to fire at a building for a couple of shots so it dosen't use up all it's ammo in a WEGO turn. I've tried using the clear target command at the final waypoint but will have another go. Update: Tried again still no luck, it seems you can't cancel a fire command at a waypoint only give another sort of command so I'll have to settle with target light or a cover arc.
  4. I tried to do this but can't get it to work for me. I just want to move my tank forward pause for 15 secs to get a couple of shots off then reverse back. Problem is I give the target order from the second waypoint where the tank pauses and it fires at the building as planned however when it reverses back it continues to keep firing at the target even at it's final destination. I only want it to fire from a certain waypoint. Help appreciated.
  5. I can send a save from the Marines campaign mission 'Milk Run' to somebody if they want, it definately shows HQ units one Mech one SF using arty. Just need to call a cease fire then click on the units to see what their up to. It just takes time for me to send it as I can only get dial-up where I live so tell me if this is of use to anyone before I try to send.
  6. This is going on my list of essential CMSF mods.
  7. I just looked around the map after the finish of a scenario and noticed that enemy Red HQ units were calling in artillery missions against my troops. I can't find anything in the 1.10 readme or the Marines manual. Unless I'm missing something I'm pretty sure only FO's could call in arty before 1.10. Can someone confirm this change?
  8. I've noticed that in the marines campaign I'm getting similar results to Handihoc, on the Pooh mission it gets a bit slow, but towards the end of the following mission where you have to take the valley with objectives Diego, Dora and Winky the game becomes a slideshow. The replay is fine and plays smooth and the camera is smooth in the command phase but the 'action phase' is completely shot, my core 2 Duo has one core maxed out. Just an update on this, if I close the game down, restart it and load the saved mission I get much better performance for a while, possible memory leak?
  9. The MGS is difficult to play with in WEGO if you get it to area fire at a building it uses up most of it's ammo in 1 min. This is why I've previously suggested a 'Fire Short' command to be added for the benefit of WEGO players where units can be instructed to fire in 15 sec increments much like the 'Pause' command works. So potentially you could get your unit to fire for 15 - 45 seconds.
  10. Thanks Moon, So if I'm reading this correctly I can log in any time in the future (beyond 365 days) with my sales login and get my license codes needed for installing? Because I know it's been more than a year since I purchased CMSF, can I still see that license code?
  11. I've downloaded Marines and installed ok but noticed I needed the license key off the confirmation email that was sent to me. This has me worried about future installs what happens if I somehow lose that email will I still be able to reinstall? I can't remember if I had to do a similar thing for CMSF but I know I can no longer find the confirmation email for when I bought it a year ago. I know I can write down the number somewhere but it's not fool proof, I know that I'll probably forget about this number over the next 6 months for whatever reason and go to reinstall only find my product is unusable. I know I still have to un-license the product before unistalling but remembering emails as well could present problems. Can someone clarify.
  12. Just another little note for scenario designers please put in the brief mission description what side you are supposed to play as. I'm talking about the small green text before you choose what side to play. It's caught me out a couple of times when I've chosen a side finding out that the opposing side has no AI plan and I've already discovered the setup positions of the side I'm supposed to be playing against.
  13. I can't remember playing CMx1 without building mods but I always remember buildings showing progressive damage like in the pic Melnibone has posted.
  14. Unless I'm missing something, the difference between CMSF and CMAK/BB is that the buildings in those older games showed progressive damage, unlike CMSF where the building looks the same till it collapses.
  15. Please let us choose a time limit for the QB's, at the moment on a small urban map we have 25mins to take a town, this just leads to unrealistic gamey rush type tactics with unnecessary casualties. An adjustable time limit is #1 on my list.
  16. Maybe he used spies, they are still identified as the enemy but have no weapons.
  17. I found this scenario very easy, the syrians surrenderd with about 10 minutes to go, I got a total victory without the loss of a single man on veteren wego. Apaches used their hellfires accurately against anything the javelins didn't nail, it was a turkey shoot. I'm playing the version dated 19/08 so it may have got harder in 1.1. *spoilers* I just spread my squads out onto the flanks and waited and put my FO on the hill crest to the right so he was looking down the valley, he just area targeted the bend and I watched the missiles fly in from off map. The spread out squads just picked off anything they liked and the 40mm stryker hammered anything that got through the missile barrage.
  18. I guess this was an exception, but if it means more a-10 action then I'm not going to complain.
  19. I think flavour objects will be pretty well covered, but more important to the creation of a simulated urban environment the building textures, lets hope there as clean and as Ali-baba says sterile as CMSF. On another note it would be great if BFC introduced transparent vegetation around units. By that I mean in other games like the ones by madminutegames your units in forests, woodland etc are easy to see because the trees go transparent in a small radius around know unit locations.
  20. PT, I think that's what I was trying to say, I obviously didn't make my post clear enough.
  21. Normandy summer 2010.....Nooooooooooooo! Anyway, I feel rather than adding alot more flavour objects to CMSF it would be better if BFC took another look at the building textures. Most of them are very clean and sterile, giving a generally sanitised representation of a middle eastern urban environment. If the textures were dirtied up a bit with weathering, old posters, faded painted advertising signs etc, the towns could look alot more realistic. Maybe one of the more dedicated modders will take this up as challenge as they did in the CMx1 titles. P.S. I'd still like to see civilian vehicles added as a flavour objects.
  22. It's a fine line to tread for game developers, do they represent human death as comical moment for the enjoyment of the player or graphic simulation of what the real effects of weapons have on the human body. Most games in my experience go for the former, even when limbs are flying through the air in a pink mist it usually has a cartoonish humour about it. This kind of representation would not suit a game such as CMSF. So the alternative is to show decapitation, and dismemberment in a realistic way. However this sort of shocking violence would possibly reduce the gaming enjoyment of alot of players who play for the tactical challenge and the admiration of the technology and weaponary involved. In that context I fell CMSF should stick to their simplified version of casualties. However - back on topic - bodies could be added to editor for broader scenario realism.
  23. There is a water tile mod somewhere probably at cmmods.com I believe it changes the marsh tile to look like water.
  24. I just thought it was a sunlight reflection effect on armour of certain angles. I've seen it on other vehicles as well not just this mod, I think it is a game problem where the glint off the armour seems to be too strong for surfaces that should not reflect all that much. stikkypixie, the mod is at cmmods check under the designer name GordonMolek, the tank in the first screenshot - and in my opinion the best looking mod - is his 'Plain Russian vehicles' mod.
  25. I'd like to see something that would really help WEGO players, that is a 'TARGET SHORT' command where you want a unit to only fire at a building for a short time say 30 secs rather than the full 60. This would help stop tanks and javelin teams using up an unecessary amount of ammo when you might only want them to hit it a couple of times. Either this or make the 'PAUSE' command also apply to targeting.
