  1. use arty or air support if available. let these guys do all the work at the start to conserve ammo.

  3. Follow-up question: Can crews re-enter an undamaged vehicle? I sometimes press the bail out by mistake and my tank crew dismounts. When tell them to remount, all they do is sit on the turret and not go back to their stations. The no smoking button is not for canceling orders. It is a pause order. The original plans will not be canceled. You should press the middle "circle" button.

  5. Oh yeah... someone commented on my comment that you can't take the movie seriously for good reason. Maybe you shouldn't take it seriously as well... Trying to make handful US troops take out 1000s of militia.
  6. Read the manual. It's kinda clear on the general process and options but not very detailed. It's enough to get you started and start experimenting.
  7. Best way is to export an existing briefing (to any folder) so that you have the correct format in the text file. Edit it using notepad and import it (from the folder you used). I just made a new folder in the game directory called "Scenario Editor Stuff". Not that hard.
  8. That's because of variable mission ending. It happens once in a while. If you feel that you finished the mission, just request for ceasefire. You will not be penalized for the objective you have already achieved.
  9. The low profile of the Russian tanks makes it difficult for it to attain a good hull down position. So the doctrine is to rush the enemy instead of staying put and shooting at long range. This negates the need to develop heavier armor.
  10. Here's how I see it: Direct fire = shoot target with LOS Area fire = shoot anything without LOS I guess that answers your question. But how come the MG team can see something at their back in the first place? Or are you targeting an emeny with a "?" icon? Regarding the trench question, maybe the MG team will only shoot if they see the enemy stand up. They are waiting to see a helmet pop out. Maybe the enemy is prone all the time. Area fire is the correct command to suppress.

  14. Nope. Uncon Combatants are deadly killers and trained Al Qaeda-style. They're morale fanatical than the Syrian Army.
  15. I guess the way to simulate thick woods is to create tiles with more than 3 trees in them (which is not currently done). I believe an abstracted terrain modifier for LOS and protection is not in line with the current engine (1:1 representation). And if they ever make it possible to stuff 4 to 5 trees in a tile, then it may adversely affect game performance / frame rate. I'd really like to have thick forests for some variety... But I enjoy urban battles the most so fixing this is not a priority for me.
  16. But I heard SPMBT fans saying that the 80's is the worst time to play US vs. Russia since Russian technology really lagged at that point. US optics outmatched the Russians. The battle will result just the same as they current US vs Syria match.
  17. Nope in my game, my infantry did not cross the breach and got massacred because they were redirected to the main gate.
  18. Correct in the movie black hawk down, the Somalis do not use crosshairs but shoot from the hips. They do not go prone and just stand and run. I played a SPMBT game of Ethiopia vs. Somalia. And my Ethiopian regular troops massacred the poor Somali militia. 14 casualties vs 1,000 [ August 15, 2007, 08:40 PM: Message edited by: jomni ]
  19. Plus the Somalians are hungry due to famine so their physical fitness may not be that high. Maybe you can lower the physical fitness level of OPFOR next time.

  21. Don't like pre-planned because it is scripted. Once you know the script, you can just avoid it.
  22. So you made it? The AI plan is actually sound but the TacAI just don't seem to enact it very well. They keep doing the crawl of death. I just wanted to put them in the objective quickly so that we have a fierce fire fight. I also want some variety thus I added more plans. I love this map so much I want to keep replaying it when I crave for a quick mission. That is a compliment.
  23. I'm playing single missions in v1.02 and my MG crew seems to fire.
