Slum battle highlights good and bad things about TacAI

Care to share the file? -
Hehe. The current manual is quite nifty for a small production.

I had a nice QB last night in a city map. I controlled Syrian mech infantry in BTRs + 3 tanks while the enemy has Strykers. I placed my tanks in the main road and blasting away some of his Strykers. Then had some supporting infantry behind and dismount to hide in the nearby buildings. He had one of his Strikers platoon (no infantry aboard) rush to the tanks managing to get one behind my tanks due to slow reload times. The bad part is that the Stryker that got away was a the Gun variant. Then BOOM. got one of my tanks from behind. He also had a platoon of Strykers (no infantry again) go around another route to flank me. The battle ended as a draw. I got the objective for 15 pts but he dealt so much damage to me and got 600 pts. I also killed a lot of Strykers and got 600 pts as well.

Yes this makes it quite gamey. -
ATI Driver Bugs (yes, plural) Identified

I suspect the same reason. My old ATI card with an outdated driver can run the game. -
Why ignore your beta testers? (too many problems)

Yes I miss the drop down but that would mean we will have a maximum of 36 commands (9 x 4) in that list. Not good either. The new system actually does note need memorizing. Since the logic of the keys are based on the position of the command button in the grid. But I would like to see the switching between command types easier than the current one. like use the four F keys above (F5 - F8) which corresponds to the command menu positions. -
Are AT Explosions a little over cooked.

Two small TacAI issues
jomni replied to Thompson's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
I know it's weird. And it was quite annoying. Since the mission has the Strykers immobile. I had to let everyone do "quick" to the trenches. It was so boring. The red marker was actually above the troops and not the bunker. A destroyed / abandoned bunker looks the same as a bunker that is intact. No flames or rubble. -

Could it be corrupted save game file? -
The Borgs will be back when they implement LandWarrior technology.

Two small TacAI issues
jomni replied to Thompson's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
I experienced your problem in number two. But I do get to fire at the bunkers for some time as normal. Then they seem to refuse doing so while there are still enemy targets. The reason is that the bunker is vacated already and the crew is hiding behind it. So your troops refuse to use the Javelin. The red diamond actually represents the crew. I found out because I had my troops jog near the bunkers to investigate. Then I found those buggers hiding behind the bunkers. I opened fire until they surrendered. If they don't really fire... are you sure you brought along the Javelin ammo? My dismounts are fine and the crew are still in the vehicle. -

I'm seeing where he's getting at... CMx1's QB enabled people to structure their multiplayer games. They feel it is fair because it allowed them freedom in choosing the units... and no one has seen or played the map before. In CMx2's QB they can't choose exactly the troops that they are going to get. And they don't like playing the same old maps again and again. If the opponent has better knowledge of the map than you, then they think it's unfair. Well most new games don't even have random map generators. Squad Battles and POA2 has limited maps. Do you see the grognards complaining? In ARMA or BF2 you keep playing the same maps. Do you the FPS buffs complaining? In Company of Heroes, you also keep playing the same maps. Do you see the RTS freaks complaining? But CMSF has the edge over all these because it has a powerful map editor. But I guess he's just too spoiled by what CMx1 has provided. -

America's Army has controllable Humvees... You get to bring along Javelins to destroy tanks as well. -
I want to know also. According to the manual the campaign is semi-branching I do not know to what extent.

Better to look for the lookout (the one activating the bomb) instead of the bomb itself.

FO inside the FSV may not have the line of sight. Mayby the FO should dismount first. -

Apparently people with more powerful and up-to-date rigs have more problems than us. Great work Battlefront

Yes this game seems to work for low end rigs as well. My rig: 3.0 P4 512 RAM ATI Radeon 9250 (256MB)
