  1. Honestly, I have no major complaints with Vista.
  2. Not actually Vista but modern DX10 cards in particular that comes with Vista machines.
  3. But I guess the mindset of the fans nowadays is to not change computer hardware to keep playing CM games. And Battlefront is happy with that and stopped updating the game. Some people value improving their hardware to play other games aside from CM, you know. And I wonder how will they attract new users (who usually have new hardware) even with Combat Mission Campaigns? Or is CMC just there to milk the money out of CM fans who skipped Shock Force? It's a pity because CMC has some potential of adding more sales of CMx1 games. So please fix this Battlefront.
  4. Yes. Please update the old CM games so that more people can play them. This will also add more new players who have newer computers. So sad that support for CMx1 games already stopped.
  5. Especially when the people have big heads.
  6. wow so pretty. this will definitely merit a reinstall of TacOps.
  7. Haven't played since 1.05. Just played 1.08 and I am happy to say that the enemy AI has been more competent and aggressive. Improved TacAI increases survivability of both human and AI units as well. There may still be bugs but I'm generally satisfied. I will surely play more of this from now on. But there still more room for improvement. [ April 03, 2008, 05:51 PM: Message edited by: jomni ]

  10. IMMERSION: that word caused a big debate in the other thread.
  11. I highly recommend QBG maps. In CMSF, Enemy AI plans are integrated in map design. So the scenario / map designer is responsible for the behavior of AI. Stock Quick battle maps are insufficient and sometimes buggy in the AI aspect. (Haven't tried the new official Quick Battle maps yet for 1.07).
  12. I played CCMT. Uninstalled CMSF because CCMT was easier to play. But I grew tired of the game so quickly. Now uninstalled CCMT and will install CMSF because of the new 1.07 patch. Compared to CMSF: Pros: 1) Tighter controls and orders 2) Better model of soldier self-preservation and morale 3) Great mulitplayer experience 4) Decent Order of battle (has US Army, USMC, British, Opfor Militia - i.e. insurgents and warlords, Opfor Regular - i.e. Russians) Cons: 1) No campaigns 2) Poor mission quality 3) Very basic mission creator 4) Enemy AI is passive (slow moving and mostly on defensive). So if you play a defensive scenario, you should go on the offensive to prevent boredom. CMSF AI puts up a better fight either whether on the attack or defense. 5) Graphically obsolete
  13. Is that so? I haven't played a lot these days and I always thought that more waypoints is better... based on the early iterations of the game.
  14. Yeah I know about the fixes. Anyway the CMx1 games were great fun back in the days. Cheers!
  15. Yup. That the notorious Vista bug that's been in existence for so long. There's a fix mentioned in one of the posts. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=005349
  16. Looks like Battlefront does not care about Vista users. I'm now considering replacing CMx1 with Panzer Command: Kharkov now.
  17. Well it just takes to long to read. But it will eventually install. The long read times for old installers are not only for BFC games...
  18. Yeah but they still don't have solutions for the bad framerate.
  19. Hmmm... Terrain modifier or add more battlefield clutter (furniture inside houses? ) would be the solution. But I bet that's impossible to represent with this game engine and design. It's just a game anyway. Adam1's description of close quarters combat seems like it came out of an FPS. A decent squad level "strategy" game that looks like an FPS is Full Spectrum Warrior. I don't think CMSF tries to become something like that.
  20. As for the RPG issue... I played OPFOR (Irregulars) armed with RPGS (3 teams) and ATGM (1 team). I only managed to destory one Stryker for the whole battle and lost. Of course the enemy was suppressing me each time I left a trail of rocket smoke. So is it me or the model?
