  1. Looks like Battlefront were (kind of) right about the T-90M getting APS: http://gurkhan.blogspot.com/2020/09/90_29.html "As part of further work to improve the security of the T-90M, it is proposed to equip the tank with the Arena-M active protection complex. In the frontal part of the hull, instead of the Relikt dynamic protection being installed at the moment, the tank should receive dynamic protection similar to the T-14 Armata." - says the materials of the institute.
  2. If you look back at the first few pages of this thread you'll see how it all started.....It was just a quick test of modded units & terrain in a playable format. But then it started to grow on me. You know the rest. PS - All but one of the maps are pretty much done now (foliage is always ongoing).....Once I'm happy with them, I'll ping you a PM explaining my concept as it now stands. The final map is urban, so it's taking a while to make.
  3. The other unit I mentioned is among the best solutions to the 'Abrams Issue'! Just a shame we don't have them in CM:BS. Taxi Drivers are even more dangerous.....Trust me!
  4. Cheers.....I think! TBH, part of the issue with the H&E scenario stuff is that the idea started on a whim, seemed to work OK so I decided to expand it, without much though as to what that would involve. Winging it is definitely not the way forward and that's a fact....I'm on the third or fourth iteration of most of the maps, some have nearly doubled in area, I'm sure you get the picture.
  5. Handy tip.....PM @BFCElvis. It's kind of like the Bat-Signal.
  6. Err.....Use two teams maybe? Pin 'em & pummel 'em.....What's not to like?
  7. @MOS:96B2P's 'Hill Street' scenarios are BY FAR the most fun I've ever had in CM.....I literally fell off my seat laughing at one point! To say it's unique would be a masive understatement.....It is AFAIK the only CM scenario where plotting a decent racing line can make a difference! PS - I'd kill for @MOS:96B2P to have access to a third 'Grey' NPC faction, so he could add traffic and passers-by to this epic creation.
  8. Pleased to meet you Denis. Ваш английский намного лучше, чем мой гугл-русский!
  9. It made convoying even harder than it currently is though.....Do you remember the sort of delays you could get sending a Conscript tuck for a long drive?
  10. Yes, apparently with both CM:SF1 and CM:A.....The latter for sure is not large address aware, so it can only use 2GB of RAM, regardless of what you actually have (this leaves around 30GB idling on my machine). The issue may be that Win10 itself shares that 2GB and it takes up more of it than Win7 did, I honestly don't know the deeper mechanics of the thing.....For whatever reason, 'out of memory errors' are at least an order of magnitude more common on my new machine. Everything still works properly, just not for very long, especially with bigger scenarios or maps. It's bloody irritating TBH.....You of all people know how fond I am of CM:A. @IanL Took a look at things, but sadly there just isn't a workaround for CM:A.....There is one for CM:SF1 however, it's called CM:SF2. PS - If you want to test 'Winter of Discontent' ping me a PM and I'll type up the briefing.....Otherwise I'm going to stick to sculpting odd islands, adding endless foliage and writing really bloody fiddly AI scripts for projects in a sunnier climate (and a much more Win10-friendly game engine). PPS - Have you considered a completely fresh Win10 install, with just Windows' built in anti-virus? All of the more up to date CM titles run beautifully on my new machine.....I believe the spec is very similar to yours.
  11. I still owe you some feedback on the flipside version of that one.....But things got a bit too real on that front for a while, as you know! Is the version I have still current?
  12. @Erwin You were asking about my scenarios elsewhere, such time as I have available for CM these days has mostly been spent on H&E projects.....If you are seriously interested in testing again, I would welcome your input. I even have one ready to go right now, with maps & briefings & everything!
  13. Testing (especially for @MOS:96B2P ) can be a lot of fun!
  14. I have one that is almost ready right now ('Winter of Discontent').....If you can live without tactical maps and with a simplistic briefing, I can have it ready in a couple of days: I'm having a lot of difficulties with 'out of memory errors' when running CM:A on my new Win10 machine.....Most of the bigger stuff I built in Win7 crashes after about a dozen turns on my new machine. Saving constantly is the only solution.....When testing I play five turns then save the game and completely exit CM:A, before restarting and reloading. As you can probably imagine this makes self-testing a bit of a chore (I believe @MOS:96B2P had similar issues when testing this scenario on his Win10 machine).....It's taken over a year to test and tune this scenario, even though it's actually dead simple and built on a lightly tweaked stock map.
  15. Had some issues wth this one.....The main body was engaged by ATGMs immediately on arrival, with fairly catastrophic results. Is that supposed to happen? Also the briefing does not tell you where the main body will arrive.....I'd assumed they would be following the recon detachment. A small setup zone for the player would probably help too. The map though is awesome!
  16. Nice to see new folks discovering this quirky, but IMHO most excellent, game!
  17. That doesn't sound right at all.....Are you selecting from the stock QB maps when you set up your battle or are you using custom maps? For the AI to control your opponent in a QB it requires an AI plan to built into the map (All stock QB maps have these plans, for both sides).....The behaviour you describe matches what one might expect if one were using a map without AI plans.
  18. @Artkin I've got a fair few maps from the other CM games converted to CM:BS.....I've tweaked a couple of them slightly, but most of them are just as they came. You may have them already have some or all of them.....They certainly offer a battlescape that's a little outside the CM:BS norm, here's one that might seem familiar, especially to players of CM:FB:
  19. TBH all of this just emphasises the need for a bit of psychology and a s**tload of testing on the scenario designer's part.....It's easy enough to criticise the inadequacies of the game, but figuring out ways around them can be rather more challenging and IMHO, it's much more fun (when it works).
  20. @Wodin, don't take @Artkin's comments to heart.....Selling a review of CM to a bunch of ardent CM fans (& self-appointed experts) like us is never going to easy! I reckon you did just fine.....More (& more exciting) pictures will always help though.
