  1. Please oh lord, bless our holy hand grenade and while you are at it can you get us multiple high end artillery systems with unlimited ammunition?
  2. nice AAR, great idea and excellent entertainment.
  3. I think you are doomed to be disappointed....not that you won't get separatists, but that you will get both AFAIK however there is no plan for fall or winter. Agree that is kind of a bummer, would really love to see that. Oh and don't assume it is less work, there isn't much reusable from CMSF for CMBS. Heck last I heard there wasn't much reusable from CMSF for CMSF 2 in the art dept.
  4. Good show, now you get to read his thread and appreciate that you put up a better fight than you knew. Nice fight DMS, great show and thanks.
  5. Notice the sheer optimism reflected in his smile, why I think he is not worried at all about the Irish Guards coming. He has warned his men about British use of WMDs however, not that he is worried.
  6. I think at this point your Abrams crews are your best infantry units.
  7. You can produce content (scenarios, campaigns, maps etc). What you can't do is access something that doesn't exist (SOPs) or the base structural elements of the game. i.e you can't create some new type of buildings, vehicles etc. as noted above you can only skin them. What the implications are for BF and whether it is a technical or business based decision is something only BF can answer.
  8. The problem is that no opfor exists that fits that description. The only scenario that comes close is CMBS. Unless BF decides to do a Cold War gone hot game, there is no even hypothetical conflict where NATO faces an opponent anywhere even close to parity. Hence my own vote to stay within the original concept. CMSF allows one to create conflicts in a particular period of a major commitment by the U.S. and it's allies in an actual real world situation where you can compare actual performance. Changing the period of the game to a more current period would simply create a "little brother" version of CMBS without the viable opfor represented by Russia. The result would be an even more one sided game than CMSF. And I really want to still do Fallujah, Ramadi, Sadr city in Iraq and operation anaconda in Afghanistan yet with the new engine.
  9. The construction of squads into teams is part of the ToE structure and also the determining factor as to how many AS a squad takes up. In other CM titles there are 3 team squads which will occupy 3 AS. This is not a simple matter to change, it is the foundation point for how a lot of things work. Want to spread out your squads? Split them. Trying to have it done via the game does not appear to be an option. BF does not tend to do work on items if the tools already exist to handle it.
  10. Stub your toe in the rubble, step on a nail, scuffed your new officers khakis? Whatever, your men will understand. Tell Ian to get them to stop gawking and get moving
  11. Didn't one of the fast food chains do a bacon milkshake? That is just so friggin wrong.
  12. CM giveth and CM taketh away. So who gets to rifle your pockets and do you actually have anything worth "buddy aid". Hmm, couple sticks of gum, nifty CM commanders secret decoder ring (which seems to decode everything as "be sure to drink your Ovaltine"), magic underwear (soiled), huh you are one of those eh?
  13. The risk is if you fell the bridge you lose.
  14. So you missed the point? The Russian attack would be launched by hordes of teenagers overrunning the capacity of the electrical grid, draining batteries and engaging in Rave parties. Gawd Ukraine doesn't stand a chance. As to that Swedish AT weapon, those guys are definitely going to be denied quick movement in CM..... I loved the 14 second mark - drag that s**t up that hill urgh.....grunt ... ooff. Whew. easily movable....Ha.
  15. no sir, close observation of the terrain is essential in combat, we must get a "taste" for what our troops will likely face. I'll uh, take a sample of the Pinot Noir over there please.... The c3k method of combat has a lot going for it.
  16. And the moral of this story is the OP needs to spend more time at a winery, hmm perhaps he needs company.
  17. That looks like a nice little fixer upper and the previous owners look open to sale.
  18. Yeah that isn't how an EMP works. Battery draining is best accomplished by loads of teens with smartphones. An EMP pulse creates an electrical field which causes an overload on typical electrical boards and circuits. A battery isn't going to notice it. it is a chemical reaction. Not that it will matter if everything the battery is attached to is fried. You want to drain the battery, you have to create an electrical draw, That would take a comic book monster or maybe Godzilla. Unless Russia has negotiated a treaty with Japan whereby Mothra and Godzilla are loaned to Russia, I don't see this being an option.
  19. UAVs are a different animal. As Vanir noted, their theoretical location is not tied at all to what they are observing. If the target of observation has no LOF to the theoretical point, then the UAV can observe unmolested. Meanwhile another AA asset with no LOF to the area of observation target that does have LOF to UAV location can shoot it down. CAS on the other hand does have an approach vector and I have observed the point representing a CAS asset crossing a map at altitude once. LOF/LOS is tied to the CAS asset. You want your AA assets to have 360 degree LOF if possible for CAS. For UAVs, you only need LOF to the enemy map edge and possibly just a corner of it. In Poking the Bear, all UAV assets appear in the map corner where the player's ground units appear. It is actually a very good scenario for understanding the mechanics of UAV spotting and AA fire.
  20. I can and I do. Seriously though, I respect your opinion on the subject. I just disagree absolutely with it.
  21. As everyone noted above, Cmx1 was WW 2, CMBS is now. Infantry are still lethal, but in a different way. Takes learning new tactics.
