  4. Yeah likely some of the same reason BF has shied away from large flavor items despite the many requests. However development by the community doesn’t have the same limitations as BF faces. We can decide to accept some issues with gameplay for the value add we see in the mods. BF though needs to insure gameplay first. I recall playing with some of the urban Stalingrad mods and while they looked really cool they did introduce things for me in gameplay and pathing that just made it hard for me to consider using too many of them. I suspect my adoption with these may be somewhat the same. I definitely like the idea of the large items like ships as backdrops where they won’t affect gameplay, but add a whole other aspect to the visuals. The Blackhawk, rail cars and destroyed hummv I’ll also likely use. The Hesco barriers I’ll have to try. One flavor item we got in CMSF that I wish worked better are the concrete road barriers. What I think I’ll end up looking for is a mod that makes a low wall look like a concrete barrier so it functions better and then use the flavor object barrier just to add some variability in placement. And @Sgt.Squarehead I bet you could do the Sadr city barrier wall now.

  6. LOL yeah best bet is to keep to what kind of items in the book are good for scenario design. In a general comment though one thing to learn that interestingly comes across really well in the US army history of Irag is that in an unconventional combat environment all sorts of s**t floats up. Criminal elements, personality conflicts, power grabs etc. It is the unconventional forces where it comes to the fore as there is no national organization to answer to. This was part of the struggle for intel in Iraq that the US was failing so miserably at for several years.

  9. Agreed. That is pretty much what I would consider a good rate of return. It largely depends on time zones. If you share the same one things are easier.

Actually a downside of being a beta tester whether for BF or a user designed scenario is you know it pretty well long before it is a final product and you play with all the beta issues like sometimes having invisible tanks which it is oh so easy to forget are fully exposed in the middle of a field,. Yeah done that.

  17. My note to Elvis originally was something like “frantically reloading - as close as we get in CM to close quarters combat”. The German won this race, but unfortunately more enemy troops were right behind. I am waiting for day I have this happen and they are both out of ammo. A brutal battle of “stare down” will likely ensue.
  18. My wife is Japanese and has lived in the US for over 20 years now. She still has issues with some of my jokes. Obviously an issue with her English.
  19. I bought the book for that series! I use it to decipher cryptic messages from Steve and also to get used to the behavior of junkies.
