  1. not completely, the Spartans get polytheistic god support, able to be called in by certain spartan radiomen and/or prophets. Support options include Zeus throwing lightning bolts and Hades' arrows of death.
  2. i know I'm not BFC crew but I'm willing to bet its not. CMSF at end of July + Well deserved vacation for BFC = fall = not enough time to make a decent USMC module. thats what i would think anyway, but i could see it coming out in Q1 2008, depending on how BFC shifts their priorities around.
  3. theres maybe a 5% chance that the demo will be out before July.
  4. can Moon or Steve or someone else please clarify: What if a soldier is killed by a bullet instantly, i.e. head shot, does he still receive buddy aid, or is his body left, because why go into the thick of a firefight to look at your dead buddy? And also, are head shots or leg shots or torso shots modeled?
  5. ...and features the armed forces of Sweden and Switzerland... </font>
  6. July 27th! Cool! I get out of Marine Military Academy on the July 28th, and a new rig in June! Sweet! Although now i suppose theres no point to looking forward to a demo because i leave July 1st.
  7. there will be hero characters, like Rambo and GI Joe for Americans, and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and a badass-ified version of al-Assad for the Syrians.
  8. how come the ACU pattern and color of the backpacks atop the Strykers are different from the pattern and color of the ACU on the infantry? here. now that i think about it, the ACUs in the game look a lot greener than in real life. observe. 9. There will be space lobsters. In any case, i think it would be pretty amusing to see this Chuck Norris support being used, followed by the famous war whoops of American troops.
  10. this arouses several questions, ahem. 1. I see that some of the soldiers lying prone have their fingers off the trigger and in the safety position, do they actually move their fingers to fire? Yes, stupid question, and i don't care if they do or don't, im just curious. 2. When dismounted and idle, do soldiers on roofs or wherever occasionally raise their rifle to scan the horizon with their scopes like i so often see in Iraq. Once again, i don't care, but it would be kinda cool... 3. I see that the Camelbak (or the entire OTV?) is not camo'd. Thats wierd because most i see are in ACU. Once again, i don't care, it just looks a little funky to me when its not in ACU, i guess thats just personal preference. 4. Are all the dead bodies in the same position, or are there many? or did you guys incorporate ragdolls? 5. I see an Uncon in a bulding with an RPG, can he fire it? sorry to pummel you with these questions, i figured if i could ask anywhere, it would be here.
  11. not to go back to this, but i still want to know how the game will do with dual-core CPUs, since i plan on getting one shortly before the game comes out.
  12. well, they said that the Killzone 2 video was also all realtime, then later admitted it to be pre-rendered.
  13. actually i think its closer to $60 million, whereas a JSF cost about $20 million. If i remember correctly.
  14. Just because the US has the biggest military (and military budget) in the world doesn't mean that its perfect. In training exercises, as said before, Indian, German, Russian, Israeli and other nation's pilots easily outmaneuver American pilots in close range combat, where the US finds it's advantage is being able to detect tangos from extreme distances and then being able to lob super-missiles from miles away and hit their target with accuracy and lethality. So technically, they "shouldn't" find themselves in a close range situation. Although perhaps the F-22 might change this.
  15. well, i read it out of some magazine (Jane's?), soon after the initial invasion, right before all the insurgent activity started up. It mentioned that Iraq still had a sizeable Air Force (well, several dozen assorted MiGs, some hinds, hips, other random assorted choppers, and some other fighter/bombers like something from the Su series i think) that could of had limited (actually probably none) use during the invasion, yet not a single aircraft was launched, i'm not sure if they even sent up helos for transport, which would be very strange. But then again, the article was barely even post-invasion, so perhaps the numbers they had could of been inaccurate. And then i remember the next article was something about Romania joining NATO...
  16. it's "OORRRAAAAAAAH", very similar to the Marine Corps batte cry, except in a Russian accent (plus, you roll the "R") but for the record, its also not completely a battle cry, like "Allah Akbar", whenever my Russian friends and family get together, we all yell "OOORRRAAAAAAAAAAAH" after a toast or whatnot.
  17. even Iraq knew better, they had a sizeable air force and yet they never once even launched a fighter or chopper against the US in the 2003 invasion, they sat in reinforced concrete hangers, where they probably stood their biggest chance for survival.
  18. light a candle to the children who never had it coming, but got it anyway. The unlucky kids who catch a stray bullet, fragments from a bomb, or detonate an old unused landmine while happily prancing along somewhere. they had no say in their fates, and they perished. Hundreds of thousands of dreams unfulfilled, families not raised, joys not had, relationships not made. For the kids who died for the phrase "Semper Fidelis" i ask that we all get over the cheesiness and clicheness of such comments to really take a moment and think about whats going on with the children of Earth.
  19. well, obviously, considering that Japan held out longer that Germany, and took two atomic bombs to finally defeat, after losing 27,909 fighting at Iwo Jima alone, and then over 70,000 more in Okinawa, the US obviously can give a hoot less about the PTO. And don't forget the battle of the Philippines, and lets not forget guadalcanal. Or the shootouts over the Solomons and Marshall Islands. Uncountable engagements between US and Japanese air and sea power. btw, plenty of those Army units were in the PTO, heres a list i found on wikipedia for the units present at Guadalcanal in 1943. * 27th Infantry Regiment * 35th Infantry Regiment * 161st Infantry Regiment * 8th Field Artillery Battalion * 64th Field Artillery Battaltion * 89th Field Artillery Battalion * 90th Field Artillery Battalion * 65th Engineer Combat Battalion * 132nd Infantry Regiment * 164th Infantry Regiment * 182nd Infantry Regiment * 221st Field Artillery Battalion * 245th Field Artillery Battalion * 246th Field Artillery Battalion * 247th Field Artillery Battalion * 57th Engineer Combat Battalion * 147th Independent Infantry Regiment3 * 97th Field Artillery Battalion * 214th Coast Artillery Regiment * 244th Coast Artillery Regiment
  20. actually, when the US entered the war, the allies decided Germany would be dealt with first and foremost, but it seemed the US was more focused on Japan, a lot more than any other allied nation anyway (excluding China). I guess it was just a little more personal when it came to Japan.
  21. I'd expect the demo in really late May or perhaps right at the beginning of June, approximately around the time that the game will go gold (so long as the June 12th release date is assured). But understand that this is a guess depending on the game coming out on June 12th and the game going gold about 2 weeks before release, and the fact that BFC works on demos after the full game is ready and the master copy is finished.
  22. i don't know about anywhere else, but here in the bay area they have some ridiculous sales at places like Fry's and CompUSA, you can get an intel dual core 2.8 Ghz with a 7800/7900/X800XL/X850XT with 2 gigs of RAM, a decent case with a powerful power supply, and a PCI Express motherboard for around $500. Thats a steal, so long as you have a decent mouse/keyboard/monitor on your obsolete system that you can use on the new one.
