  1. Still got a half hour till midnight here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  2. but plenty of AAVs, LAVs, M16s, and OOORRAAHHHs. plus, they got MARPAT, and everyone knows that MARPAT kicks ACUPAT's butt.
  3. Yeah, and to hell with morality and such! I mean, if you don't make it, someone else will, right? It's only natural to want to be the one collecting the profits in a situation like that. Look at Kalashnikov, his invention and its subsequent variations and spin-offs have probably produced a higher body count than any other single weapon in the world. He doesn't dwell on it, if the AK was never built, people would just be killing each other with other junk. In the end of all things, vodka helps a lot, as well.
  4. For the record, I'm from the Bay Area. And i would consider myself to be someone more or less familiar with modern warfare, weapons systems, and consequent political over-lapping. more or less. for the record. edit: as to extremely limitedly answer your question about geopolitical consequence of essentially defeating ATGMs, there are a few hotspots around the globe where nations amass a variety of forces for many different reasons--all of which are indeed grudges. India/Pakistan China/taiwan South Korea/North Korea we all know the big ones, but the only place where i can *imagine* that a discovery of such proportions as these allegedly are would have a significant impact would be in Israel, against militants who can't afford tanks or other forms of KE tank defenses, and rely heavily on shaped charge/ATGM/CE/missile defenses. Actually, any assymetrical environment would do, even Iraq or Afghanistan, any fighting ground that hosts a force that is developed and organized enough to have these defenses, but not a national army or otherwise top-of-the-line equipped organization with other, more technologically advanced means with which to knock out most armor. Of course, this is all at a glance, I must admit this is an interesting exercise, to say the least. [ December 30, 2007, 02:00 AM: Message edited by: Homo ferricus ]
  5. Sure it was terrible, but it was done with such aplomb! I'm sure the Europeans beg to differ. anyway, seriously, just quit posting and pretend you won the argument...
  6. Hold on, let's get a few things straight here. Whether or not someone wants to download this is the option of the individual player. HE will decide whether or not this is an accurate depiction of the ADF. If he does, he's obviously incorrect, but i suspect most people who play such a simulation based and realism savvy program won't make that silly mistake. Furthermore, M1A1 is making this mod for the purposes of such people who understand this, and wish to simply "pretend", for "game" or other reasonable purposes. He is not making this mod for the ADF, or for BFC, or for any official purposes, he is offering this for anyone out in the CM community. Understood?
  7. hmmm, i got an 86 on my ASVAB, with line scores that qualify me for everything (except band, since i don't play an instrument, and i can't be an armor crew member, oh and about a half inch too tall for the silent drill team). what'd you get? edit: you know why the Army says hooah, right...
  8. so, I'm breezing through the campaign, nice and easy, only got like, 9 KIA (including brutal airport fight)so far. I get to the map where a Bradley platoon reinforced with a Stryker company assaults a part of the town, 'Dar Al Sud" (i believe that is the name, the objectives were to secure a crossroads and two airport buildings). Anyway, I eliminate or rout all the uncons around town, thanks to THREE, count em', THREE, batteries of 155 mike mikes (a single tear ran down my cheek when i started the bombardment). Sorry, going off topic--my point is, i eventually cornor the Syrian SF into the two airport buildings, then i saved the game, then I 25mm bushmaster/.50 cal/ Javelin the crap out of the airport buildings, they surrender, thats just wonderful, but then, when loading the next scenario breifing, the game always freezes up at exactly 50% of the loading bar, i've loaded it up and re-beat the scenario three or four times from my savepoint, including once from the very beginning in case that save was funky or somefink. wtf?
  9. thats a shame, i was hoping someone would get around to making one of the newer Humvee models we see in Iraq, with the the improved 360 degree gunner walls, or maybe one of those rather funny looking anti-sniper turrets. lord knows the ma deuce gunners need more survivability in this game.
  10. you play a dangerous game BFC, fooling with my heart like this...
  11. throw constructive and destructive out the window--this is just plain funny! Unfortunately true, but utterly hilarious! Ya know, i couldn't quite put my finger on what it was this forum needed, but i think some humorous criticism hits the spot perfectly. 12. heh, reminds me of that recent Southpark episode.
  13. I'm buying the Marine module for sure. Of course CMSF wasn't exactly what i hoped for, but thats my own fault for overhyping the crap out of it for two years. I think a lot of the reason that we haven't seen a game like this is because it is so difficult produce, and this game is more than i should have expected from a team of a half dozen or so. Nonetheless, Shock Force IS the most realistic modern war sim out there and i still play it and enjoy it, hell yes i'm buying the addons. edit: i will buy the addoms as long as they are still planned to be made, of course. I don't know what to make of Battlefront's absence, but i always hope for the best! [ November 17, 2007, 04:47 AM: Message edited by: Homo ferricus ]
  14. I have heard some pretty bad stories about OIF and that initial push into Iraq. One Marine told me that the tracs simply didn't get to the Marines in time, so they had to cross the border in 5-ton trucks.
  15. i was also thinking about camo to be used in the USMC module. Are they going with the woodland digies or desert digies? You know there IS woodland in Syria... sorta.
  16. hmmmm, better get a power ball to counter all the carpal-tunnel this game is going to produce
  17. I don't know who unsobill is, or thinks he is, but he definitely does not speak for Russians, especially myself. And by the way, about those anti-semitic books you mentioned, they were banned because they are SLANDER, and slander is ILLEGAL.
  18. war isn't hell because blood spews out of a guy like Old Faithful when he's shot. It's a big psychological overwhelming, and blood and guts doesn't have as much to do with it as you think. Returning vets with PTSD flinch at everything because they can't get over being in a warzone and surrounded by bastards trying ta kill ya! They don't turn into vegetarians!
  19. It hides red wine stains. What more do you want? Some kind of advanced static electricity model? Lord knows the kind of shocks you can get when you mix shag carpets and combat boots. </font>
  20. all i wanted to know was if vehicles could flip... *sniff, sniff* p.s. are you drunk again?
  21. i am curious as to whether the engine supports vehicles flipping on their sides and such.
  22. well, assuming that the specs listed in your sig are your actual computer specs, then i think it will run just fine for you, considering my own estimations and what i've heard from reviewers and beta testers.
  23. There's no reason to include it. If you're blowing off all your ammo, that's called "poor fire discipline". It may also indicate a poorly designed scenario. </font>
