  1. You are correct StefMan on your evaluation of the Soviet Union. As well as to your proposals to make the Soviet War-Entry more realistic ... instead of such massive and early Soviet preparation to attack Germany!. Even when the Germans finally attacked...Stalin initially refused to believe that 'Herr Hitler' ... was really making war on him!.
  2. I too agree with SeaMonkey!...some great ideas here!!!. I really do hope that SC2 can incorporate some of the excellent ideas/suggestions given here throughout this forum!. I realize that more may be on the plate than can be digested...if so, then maybe a patch or two or Mod or two can alleviate this situation!.
  3. Edwin P. ... now this discussion...'Alternative History Generator,... is just what i like...thank's for initiating this discussion. That is not to say that i have no yearning for a 'HISTORICAL - GAME' ...but, trying out 'ALTERNATIVE HISTORIES' ... can also be massively fun i should think!.
  4. I too have had a STRONG leaning for HEXES myself...but, in playing OTHER games with SQUARES like CIVILIZATION and others...i have found that SQUARES can work out quite well. We will see what it looks like in SC2.
  5. On that point EDWIN i would like to add...why-not incorporate a see-through 'overlay' to indicate the available movement area at a glance. So, now instead of checking out each possible movement path which is time cosuming...one, could at a quick glance see where their unit can or cannot go!.
  6. Yes EDWIN P. we need as many realistically plausable Scenario & Campaign variants as is possible...not only...to add to the longevity of SC2 , but also a continued fresh interest in this game!. Besides that,...im inclined to explore the variants moreso than the historical rote!. Between your ideas EDWIN and those of the others in this forum...a great deal of possibilities exist for this niche!
  7. AGENT SMITH ... I heartely agree with you that TOAW was disgusting to play in 3D-Mode...and for that reason i did not use it. BUT!!!... i also found the PANZER GENERAL series not to be a problem using the ISOMETRIC mode instead and did not miss not having, the TOP DOWN viewing mode!.
  8. Topic: Will Allied Strategic Bombing Have Any Effect On The Game? http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=34;t=000350
  9. How interesting that some still mention "Panzer General II" ... I still play it after all these years...there is no end to New MODS_CAMPAIGNS_SCENARIOS_MAPS_EQUIPMENT PACKAGES...etc!.
  10. We will glady wait until you deem it the right time to release SC2 "Hubert"...thank's for showing such care for your product and in the finale'...care for us by releasing a superior product!. We have been Patient and have used our Patience gladly...but there are some who have "LOTS OF PATIENCE"...Because..."THEY NEVER USE ANY OF IT"!!!. 11. Im for a great 'AI' in any game!. Game AI is the way of the future in gaming for the reasons in these posts. I myself do not have the time to play online or send games by E-Mail...but, prefer to indulge as and when i have the time for it!. If agame does not have 'AI'..."i wont buy it"!.
  12. I like 'Production Times' myself!. Production times should reflect 'Historical' production times. As well i would like to see a Re-tooling cost if one wanted to use the same factory to produce another item. An old old game like 'War In Russia' had that feature!. It's also good that for those who want 'Instant-Builds'...that they can use that to keep the game as simple as possible!.
  13. Sea Monkey...what is all this FOR FREE stuff?. If thats what you think i was saying...then you completely misinterpreted what i said. YOU PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE DOWNLOAD OR THE CD...if either is your preference. Then for example an additional $10.00 you can then order the CD or DOWNLOAD the game for an additional $10.00 . This way an individual ME can order the CD...for whatever the game price is...and ill pay an additional $10.00 to download the game right now so that i can start using it!. I hope this clears it up for you....i never advocated getting the game for nothing or to wait another year for more freebees...please read the material more carefully!.
  14. I would like to have a CD mailed to me and also have the option to download the game as well,...you can also instead...just download the game and pay the full price for the game. If for example the CD is ordered and the full game price is paid...then as an additional option i would like to have the capability to immediately download the game for say a charge of $10.00 or so...so that i can start playing it within a few minutes...same S/N etc to install the game. --------------------------------------------------- killerbeesoftware had these options. QUOTE "When you order, it will be delivered to you via an online link for you to download unless you ask for it on CD from BMT Micro, which will cost an additional $10.00. There will be an option on the order form for you to have it put on CD." What Should I Order and how much does it cost? Empire Deluxe Enhanced Edition will be sold by the license. The license will be for each computer the game is on. There are actually a couple of products that will be licensed: 1. EDEE Full Version $35.00 per license This version has everything, game play, map editor, database editors, and is network play capable. This is what you want to play the game and have all the features at home. Add To Cart at BMT. 2. EDEE Remote Client $20.00 per license This version only has network play available. You cannot start games, but can join them online or on your home network. You only need this if you want to have network play and not buy a second full license. Add To Cart At BMT.
  15. Agent Smith ...thats an interesting tac to take , i had eluded to a similar concept a while back. Surely, there must be some way to do this. Why-not break down the game turns into sequential MAP operations, and for example...do MAP1 1st , then MAP2 2nd. This could go on for several maps...if a campaign or scenario was setup like that. This, then would remove any MAP size/area restrictions for Scenario/Mod construction...the sky would be the limit!. An example of how this could be utilized is for example...say you are attempting to take STALINGRAD...so 1st you assemble all participating forces for that turn,...then have all of those units actually enter the City of STALINGRAD and join existing forces that are engaged in the battle. The city of STALINGRAD could easily use up a 512 X 256 map segemnt. [ August 15, 2005, 04:13 AM: Message edited by: Retributar ]
  16. Slave labour doesn't cost much Edwin P. ... not much at all...other than food!. So i guess it would depend on the availablilty of slave labour and could the existing food supplies accomodate a larger work-force?.
  17. I whole-heartedly agree with you Blashy !. Let's hope that later a patch or other work-a-round can be introduced to circumvent map-size-limits!.
  18. I really like vveedd's suggestion!. I too would like my defensive air-fleets to defend just the targets i want defended in order to maximize my protective air-screen. Instead of wasting my defensive airpower on every and any target!. In SC2's case , this may not matter anyway...since all targets are in some fashion industrial output points...thereby making all targets important!. I would prefer to have a resource production value based on territory ownership....and then....place my factories wherever i liked ... even UNDERGROUND!. Then the deployment of air-defence forces could be used to its maximum potential.
  19. For other than 'WW2-BASIC' i would also like to have included features such as being able to move my industry 'underground' as i could manage it, to allocate the resources to do it...to keep the Bombers from incessantly bombing out my production. This would result in a lesser need for Anti-Aircraft weaponry...and the resources that would have been used for that could now be re-directed. This could be indicated on the map with a 'U' - Symbol beside the Industry or City. Once underground...the oppostion / Opposing Player would not be able to see it anymore on their maps...but only know that it exists or may-exist if spy's or the local resistance have successfully infiltrated the complex to make the determination.
  20. Jordy ... you may just be surprised how well square tiles can work. EMPIRE was the 1st computer wargame i played...and it was great...not anything realistic...but, a lot of fun to play...and the square tiles worked out really well. Search: EMPIRE Deluxe Enhanced Edition ...which is an updated version of that old game...it still is a great game!...i just purchased it recently and find that it is a whole lot of fun to play. I do really prefer real situations like SC2 presents...but, some fantasy world conquering games can be fun too!. The square tiles in EMPIRE Deluxe Enhanced Edition work very well to my surprise. I wonder how they will work out in SC2?.
