  1. He's taking his ball and going home. Speaking of home, I just got back from Tankfest 2006! Off to the thread I go!
  2. I'm currently playing a scenario where some mines have to be cleared. I have a pioneer squad sitting approximately 10 meters from a mine marker. They've been there for about 6 or 7 turns, doing nothing. They're a veteran squad, within command, not under fire, and positioned in scattered trees. I don't think the satchels affect local friendly units when they're thrown at a mine marker, either. I've had tank crews lying near an AT mine marker when it was cleared by a satchel and they weren't affected at all. Buildings are another, painful matter. Heh.
  3. Yeah, I remember this being discussed. I believe the consensus was that if you want to use your arty to create cover, go ahead. I'm sure your opponent won't mind if you don't use it on his troops.
  4. They do, and a quick check revealed it to be 60 meters.
  5. If the enemy unit was within your mortar's minimum range(which I believe is 100m), they would not have been able to fire the mortar at the enemy. So, they use their small arms. At least, that's my understanding.
  6. Perhaps this page can help. http://www.indiana.edu/~league/1944.htm
  7. Just save the turn while you have it opened to your game menu. Exit the scenario and then select it from that menu. If you're hosting, choose TCP/IP and wait for your opponent to connect. That's what I do, anyway.
  8. Christ, man. Can you post a link? 40,000 submarine sites/articles, a few irrelevant battle websites and one rock band home page...
  9. I tell you, I would pay for some kind of replay utility for AK and BB. I don't know if BFC or some independent developer has considered it.
  10. I thought he was Belgian. Anyway, if you spell "Chuck Norris" in a game of Scrabble, you win. Forever.
  11. The hell!? Andy, my turn has been sent.
  12. For those of you not following the jokes... LINK!
  13. Oh yeah! I remember the episode with the duel now. Sorry!
  14. Actually, I believe the phrase is "I'm squishing your head." Good times, good times.
  15. Crud. Maybe I can go to Bovington next year. Will anyone else be there? I know it's difficult to say this far in advance.
  16. I don't know if this is modelled in the game, but, if the Tiger was area-targetting the 2nd floor(which only seems possible if LOS to the 1st floor is blocked) and the friendlies were just below, there might have been a risk of the tank HE rounds exploding somewhat over the friendlies, kind of like a treeburst. That's my guess.
  17. Hmmm. I should have known Henk would put something together. LINK
  18. I'm a roaming cowboy riding all day long, Tumbleweeds around me sing their lonely song. Nights underneath the prairie moon, I ride along and sing this tune. See them tumbling down Pledging their love to the ground Lonely but free I'll be found Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds. Cares of the past are behind Nowhere to go but I'll find Just where the trail will wind Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds. I know when night has gone That a new world's born at dawn. I'll keep rolling along Deep in my heart is a song Here on the range I belong Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.
  19. I would suggest you read A Blood-Dimmed Tide by Gerald Astor for the full quote. Or I could just post it... "I was never religious and I lost any feeling for it right after the battle of the causeway. During a break I was sitting with a guy whose brother was a priest and his sister a nun. He was always talking up religion. He never cursed and his one sin was he chased women without a pause. He took his Bible out and told me, 'This is what saved us.' The words were no sooner out of his mouth then a treeburst shell snapped his neck. I've been an atheist since then."
  20. Yeah, I believe there was a fierce debate within the STAVKA about whether to defend, bleed the Germans, then counterattack, or just pre-empt the German summer offensive with their own. EDIT: Where's my turn, eh? Just kidding! [ May 22, 2006, 08:36 AM: Message edited by: Shmavis ]
  21. *Yawn* Don't forget the Soviet habit of inflating AFV kill totals. Oh, and production totals never equal frontline presence, especially at this point in the war. I guess Raz has long since taken his questions elsewhere. I need more coffee. [ May 22, 2006, 12:25 AM: Message edited by: Shmavis ]
