  1. Have a look at this link first http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvate_il_soldato_Ryan
  2. No, the new features will come in a non-free upgrade. More info here: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=104855
  3. Yes. Apparently the radio's are very clunky and not like mobile phones . In any case I don't think it's practical to relay information while running around and scanning for enemies.
  4. I believe the leadership rating only affects the squad itself. I haven't seen any evidence otherwise. The -2/-1 next to morale means that their morale is more likely to drop quickly compared to say +2. So given the same situation a -2 team will go to panic while +2 team might be nervous.
  5. I wouldn't say this is a bad thing per se. By doing so you don't have to for example estimate the chance of a "weak spot" penetration because it's alreay inherent in the code.
  6. Hi, I just download it so first of all thanks ! I do get an data error while trying to unpack it for some wav files? Is this normal?
  7. Sometimes I think it's a pity the engine is so coupled to the visual representation. If these tests could be somehow automated it would save brave people like you sooo much work
  8. How does it take five minutes? One trick you can do is simply place a waypoint on the target, and use the target tool to find a location that has LOS to it. The UI is clunky, but there are ways around it.
  9. Me I've gotten into the habit to go to preset view 1 so gauge the LOS from a location (basically what I used to do in the old CM games). It's surprising sometimes to see that what looks like a perfect vantage point from up high, is actually pretty bad at closer inspection. Now I only use the target tool for very specific target I want to kill
  10. Just out of curiosity, do you actually check the LOS the every possible location? If I recall correctly the whole point of only have a waypoint checking tool is not to give perfect intel. That there is always the off chance that you might be spotted from somewhere you didn't think of looking. I see it as a compensation for the fact that units cannot adjust their position to get better LOS to a target. I guess it comes down to a style of playing.
  11. In my experience situations where infantry fail to spot tanks *right next to them* either involve smoke or vegetation. In any case it's not where near common as you seem to paint it. [Edit] Hmm, harsher tone that I imagined. Any case haven't seen much examples that didn't have a good explanation.
  12. My hypothesis is that with relative spotting you are more likely to see spotting outliers. In the old CM games, the borg spotting tend to average out spotting oddities. An individual tank in CMBB might fail to spot an enemy, but you would not notice. In the new CM games, units spot more independently from its allies which I think results in more outliers. The fact that a TC does not spot a tank firing at it does not seem that odd to me, if he happen to look the other way he won't be able to spot it. Any way my two cents.
  13. I don't really think there is a bias: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=106403
  14. If I remember correctly the two main reasons for not having this feature is a) technical reasons it's not realistic. I don't know the details for a) but the reasons for are more clear to me. The player as it is, already has way more information than in real life (you can check the LOS from every corner from the map). Having this tool in would be over the top in terms of information. Maybe the UI can be simplified by a LOS tool where you don't need to make a waypoint, but honestly I don't know if it's worth it. Any way my two cents.
  15. That why I posted about having better local odds. Spotting is a roll of the dice and you can have bad roll any time. Having more than one tank reduces that chance. Also, are your tanks in contact with their platoon leader? This also helps out *a lot*.
  16. That is strange, because it doesn't work like this. I can play online as well as offline with no problems. Maybe you should consider contacting helpdesk.
  17. When you select emergency, the spotter will not call for spotting rounds to adjust the location where the barrage is going to land and you're just firing on good luck
  18. Are you using the emergency option? This will reduce the accuracy of the barrage.
  19. The most important thing is to remember that if you're the one moving into a new position you are at a disadvantage. There may be more than one enemy tank overwatching your new position, so what you think is a 1:1 fight might actually be 4:1 in reality! It's up to you to mitigate this disadvantage, for example by approach the flank of the enemy vehicles or by suppressing the enemy vehicles (using infantry or artillery). Make sure the odds are stacked in your favour, approach with more than a single tank if possible. Also make sure your tanks have information about the target. If you click on your own tank, and you see a <?> where the enemy tank is located, it means your tank knows there is something there and will spot it more quickly. The best thing to do (if the objectives allow this), is to give your opponent a taste of his own medicine. Move into position with good LOS to positions where your opponent is likely to move to in the future and watch his tanks turn into burning wrecks
  20. a) Assault in the game only works if you have enough men/fire-teams. It does not work for a single fire-team. Having eyes on the launch site does not equal actually spotting (unless this is what you mean). Your vehicles must have missed it. You can check who can see what by clicking the individual vehicles/squads. This will give you their view of the world. c) No idea what you are saying here d) If I recall correctly, the whole premise of the game is this that it's a conventional conflict and the AP/HE ratio reflects this. e) 1. There is no more spotting as in CMx1, where once a unit is spotted, everyone sees it. This (at least to me in the beginning) affects my expectation of the whole spotting business. 2. Spotting is also a chance thing affected by the number of observers. A 13 squad team for example might have better spotting capabilities as whole, than one recon vehicle depending on the conditions because they simply have more eyes watching. The difference in equipment can be subtle, and only become really noticeable in "extreme" conditions. I made a small test to show this: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1217524&postcount=28
  21. The shadows just work better on some graphics cards than others. Not much you can do as far as know, unless you can find some card setting to change it. One tip is to change the hotkeys so that each key corresponds to one command only. I am not a big fan of the whole relative hotkeys thing.
  22. I always liked http://www.achtungpanzer.com/. That should cover the German stuff.
  23. No, you cannot. For scenarios you can however edit them to have max time limit which is about 3-4 hours.
