  1. Great News to hear Todd, Wishing your wife a speedy recovery. God Bless your family!
  2. Don't sell yourself short my friend... yours are some of the Better ones I have played... ... Even though I wish I could beat you in a PBEM on a level battlefield..... That is all... -FR
  3. I agree with never adding a Play Balance Percentage to any vs. AI especially with all the customization within the parameters of 'designed' scenarios. As far as giving the AI an experience bonus of +1, 2, or 3, sometimes when creating Historical or Semi-Historic battles (that might have been one-sided in real life) an addtional punch to the AI is necessary to make the battle more enjoyable... The other way of doing that is to add Bonus Points which can counter some of the one sided affect. Also as Junk2Drive has mentioned in a game designed for H2H play an experience bonus could help game play when playing that scenario vs the AI... Interesting stuff Simovitch would like to hear what others tend to do... That is all...
  4. What a great idea... I will start to incorporate that information in my upcoming releases... I have been using McMMM since its inception, you have created one slick, easy to use, and dynamic product. Thanks for all your effort... That is all... -FR
  5. Wow that is a great name for a scenario User Manual Don't think I have seen that scenario at the Depot, but when I find it I will be willing to PBEM it (or send me a setup)... I believe there are directions at The Blitz That is all... -FR
  6. Da Proving Grounds is where I place all my scenarios for playtesting... In fact out of the 11 CMBB and 19 CMAK scenarios I have placed there for playtests.... ALL have received a review, discussion, comment or somefink... ... Its only after this I make modifications and then place them at The Scenario Depot where I know they will get downloaded... its always nice to get feedback there but I don't expect it... So I say to all the designers lookin for feedback, send you scenarios over to Da Proving Grounds and dont forget to get involved in a little playtesting, you will find that one hand washes the utter... Also I remember in a thread a while back both GJK and Admiral Keth were discussing the possibility of combining some of the functionality of the two sites... That would be awesome if that happened during the same time frame as the release of CMX2... But still hats off to those two fellers for doing a great service to the CM community... That is all... -FR
  7. My Apologies also Exeter I wasn't really accusing you, I was agreeing with Wicky about the piracy issue. I don't believe there is a way to create partially damaged (* or **) buildings without using the auto generator, which inhibits the exact placement of said buildings... That is all -FR
  8. Yea Buddy, Hip Hip, and all that stuffola... Pirates beheaded...!!!! That is all... -FR
  9. Hey FGM-Smashing What a great idea... Just sent you a scenario I just completed for CMAK called Le Mensil Herman Crossroads ... its about The VII Corps breakout from St. Lo, end of July 44' and how a recon unit from the 12th Panzerjager regiment slows them down and prevents the capture of the 352nd Infantry Divisions HQ located within 500m of the crossroads... Hope you enjoy it... and thanks for running the competition... I always enjoy your website and forums... That is all... -FR
  10. First off - another big hats off to Admiral Keth for the great site he has given to the CM community. Being both a designer and a reviewer I believe the site as it is now is functioning just fine (I also believed that the previous version was fine also)... When I go to TSD I am looking for the following things as a Designer ... </font> Ability to upload a scenario with ease.</font>Be able to provide the community with pertinant information about the scenario.</font>Ability to see reviewers feedback.</font>Ability to provide reviewer with designers feedback.</font> All of these seem to work very well... From the Designers side if someone doesn't like my work... so be it... its not going to annoy me... I am not in the business to have the 'most scenarios' or the 'most popular scenarios' or any other competitive type rating.. I design scenarios for fun... and the community should consider themselves lucky that the designers are willing to share their work with others... Now from the point of view as a Reviewer/Player ... </font>The ability to download a scenario with some knowledge of what it is about (PBEM or Historical or Large or Small, etc).</font>I want to see what others think about said scenario.</font>The ability to provide the designer with feedback about his scenario.</font> These items all seem to work for me... As a reviewer/player I feel that TSD provides me with the information I need to make an informative choice for the specific type scenario I am looking for... For me I don't really care what others have said about a scenario (in fact I dont like to look at that)... I can read the briefings, look at the map and make my own determination if its good or bad... in fact, in playing some scenarios that have not been rated I have found some really hidden jewels... I also always try to provide feedback on scenarios that I have chosen to play... So what are the issues... Best I can tell is the designers want their scenarios reviewed more... That would be nice... but if you restrict downloading to those who are only going to submit reviews then I think you are hurting the idea of TSD... The reviewers want easier ways to pick scenarios... IMHO it doesnt get much eaiser then it is now... Lets face it in a perfect world.. everytime a scenario would be downloaded, it would get a perfect review, cause it is a perfect scenario, and the everybody would be happy... NOT... Ok, little things can be refined or tweaked to enhance almost anything... but IMHO TSD works just fine... Now that I rambled (after having a 10 cup'er of coffee this AM) I will get back to my original thought... THANK YOU KEITH MILLER FOR THE AWESOME SITE it is a pleasure to have people like you, GJK from The Proving Grounds, Todd Johnston from Combat Mission Modification Database and all the others who donate their time and effort to make this such a great community... That is all... -FR
  11. I thought The Proving Grounds was just for playtesters and designers... but then I discovered there is the following plue more: </font> Reference Center</font>Designer Tips</font>Research Area</font>Opponent Finder</font>Chat Room</font>Victory Location Planner</font>Map Section</font>And somefink about a Tournament</font> Plus I believe there are some really good fellows there (IMO) That is all... -FR
  12. Also the "\" Key can be used at the final editorial session to setup the view the player see upon game startup... Example in a PBEM game you can have each player see the view you want him to (one for each side) at the setup placement turn of the game... I always appreciate the designer who takes the extra time to place units and provide that opening view that puts you into the battle... I have never really had an issue with moving or placing units in the editor or in the game mode setup turn (as long as there is setup zones)... but I also move units one at a time with a right click... That is all... -FR
  13. Thanks Micheal Wittman Now dont go blowing it apart with an 88mm -FR
  14. Hey Theike Feel free to use my stuff anyway you want... its out there for all's enjoyment... Good luck in your efforts, right now I have a ton of things on my plate otherwise I would offer to help you... That is all... -FR
  15. Hey J2D I havent forgot about you on the Fantasy Island Scenario, Actually the Map is 90% done, but I have to rework the airstrip area and two of the landing zones... Might look to you on some of the OOB's for the battle... If you want e-mail me and I will send you the .cmg file.. Not sure how it looks with the way your version is modded.. I downloaded all the PTO mods I could find and loaded them up in a seperate version of CMAK... pretty cool man Here are some of the latest screenies: Looking North at Fantasy Island Looking South West The Airstrip... Needs some work The Harbor Lamb Chop Hill From a potential OP Will keep you posted J2D -FR
  16. I Go to CMMods all the time and download all the great mods there... I use IE and have never had a problem... Wonder if its not just the CMMods site you are having a problem with... What version of IE? is it patched to the latest release? What OS? There is a lot of issues with IE running on Win2003.. yada yada... The Price we must pay  -FR [ July 16, 2004, 09:52 AM: Message edited by: Fredrock1957 ]
  17. SWEET!!!!!! instant download!!!! awesome as always -FR
  18. I solve this problem by playing a hotseat game against myself while drinking moonshine, a shot after each turn (Yes Sergei it will be in CMX2, you can thin the oil in the motor with it and get an extra 30hp... oh wait thats my pickemuptruck ) ... by the 8th turn the AI is looking pretty good to play, at least better then my hotseat opponent... or at least better then the inflatable doll -FR
  19. Here is some stats on the ISU-122 Specifications -FR
  20. Try Posting it at The Proving Grounds Where many designers post there battles for playtesting and feedback, there is also a forum area for a discussion of each battle posted with AAR and review features, -FR
  21. I did some testing in CMBB a while back with two PzIV G's (IIRC) and two PSW 221's located in a symetrical city block or two.. placed one of each on the right and left side of the intersection about 60m away from the intersection.. Used a Russian Tank Hunter team walking down the street towards the intersection (on Move to Contact).. no wind... Tried different combinations of the Vehicles from all Hiding to some hiding etc... What I discovered (again if IIRC) is that sound contact was achieved approximately 30-40m earlier by the Tank Hunter team when the vehicles where not hiding... never thought about trying in winding conditions and just believed that in scattered trees etc the variables were too great... but a mirrored city block seemed to show there is some effect
  22. Trees On Extreme Coverage - Turn the bases on when looking for units. Except when units are tightly packed together. Also Weather on Extreme, Sound + Ambient, and High Res Smoke, Terrain Extreme, Camera Shake On, building shawdows on, 3 men squads, and usually scale is +1 except when I get down low to watch some interesting stuff in a movie then realistic Low res smoke and I would play a different game... NOT That is all...
  23. OSF is just plain great, I was hesitant at first to load it and spent some time lurking around the OSF posts here and at eichenbaums website. But I guess I am lucky having a partitioned drive I just loaded another copy of CMBB into a seperate area (heck after .bmp and .wav backups its only a 100 megs different then the full load)and labeled it as OSF on my desktop. I followed all the loading instructions havent had a problem (except with the way I play the game ) and found OSF to be enjoyable and a great product. In fact the terrain looks so great I ended up modding my CMBB I use for PBEM's and designing with OSF mods. As far as jumping down the OSF gangs throat, thats just plain uncalled for. It is rare that people in a gaming community would take the hundreds and maybe thousands of hours to create a free enhancment product like OSF if they are not dedicated to the cause. TWO THUMBs UP to Eichenbaum and his crew... Looking forward to the future.. -FR
  24. All of Michael Dorosh's sites have much of what you are probably looking for: Mediterranean Info German Info Eastern Front Info Canadian Info Hope this helps -FR
