  1. Hi Sgt. Emren I just posted a new scenario at The Proving Grounds called Come Hell or High Hill its about the Soviets attacking a "Fortified Hill" with most of the items you talking about. I think it is challenging and the first feedback I got was real positive. There are some screen shots on my website but they show mine positions and other stuff so they are potential *spoilers* Please leave feedback Good, Bad or Ugly if you play it FredRocker
  2. Just posted at ( The Proving Grounds ) two new scenarios for playtest one for CMBB and one for CMBO.. Overviews Follow - The CMBB is called " Come Hell or High Hill " Overview (Fictional) In May 1943 as the axis offensive has ground to a halt, the Soviets launch a counter-offensive in the central region of the country. A battalion of Soviet infantry has breeched the Germans and has pushed two miles past the line. There near a small river is a hill that supports a German artillery regiment and a battalion of German Infantry. For two days the Soviets have been trying to take the hill. Due to the surroundings the hill can oversee for miles in all directions and is thus the most valuable piece of real estate around. Today the Soviets must take the hill as their two-mile push into the line is starting to collapse. The previous two days of fighting has lead to lots of bloodshed and both sides troops are tied. The name the Soviet soldiers are calling the hill is (Hell Hill) and to this day its legend lives on. The objective is simple, for the Soviets take the hill at all costs, for the Germans fight to keep the hill. The morning of the third day is clear and sunny, the ground is dry and there is a light westerly breeze, but you can feel the tension in the air as the attack is about to start. Will the artillery soften up the hill, will the resistance be as fierce as the last two days. How many soldiers will die on Hell Hill today, only you will know. The Second one is a CMBO called " Malfunction Junction Overview (Fictional) After the landings in France in June 1944 the Allies started to push inland. A key crossroad to the south of a major allied push was still controlled by the Germans. The Major General of the 30th Infantry Division knew that the crossroads at Le Crème must be taken. A Task Force was formed and put under the command of Major Frederick Carlson. Carlson’s job was simple take the crossroads during an attack at dawn. Little did Carlson know that the crossroads at Le Crème were controlled by Units of 1sr Battalion 4th “Der Fuhrer” SS Panzergrenadier Regiment under the command of Captain Wilhelm Boz. Its 3AM and Carlson’s troops are working there way into position, its suppose to be a clear day and Carlson hopes he will get the air support he was promised by some Flyboy Captain whose name has escaped him. Please provide any feedback Good, Bad or Ugly.. Thanx FredRocker
  3. The Proving Grounds is a great place to find someone to play a game or to get your scenarios playtested. They even except newbies like me  ... That GJK guy is A number one !!!
  4. Welcome Aboard BattleAngel Maybe this site might help HERE [ September 12, 2003, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: Fredrock1957 ]
  5. Thanx Guys I guess I missed that when adjusting the individual units <thats called a "stunad" newbie> but with your input it will get better... Now for those 130 or so who downloaded it off the Depot... <oops> FredRockintothenight
  6. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to figure the following out. I have just gotten into designing scenarios for both CMBO and CMBB and I am confused on how victory determination is made. Recently some feedback on one of my scenarios "Rassenei" stated that. As the developer of the scenario it was the Axis objective to exit his units off the east edge of the map while also taking the two main hills along the way. So What I am asking ?? Are there any guidelines to how victory points are determined (large flag 300, small flag 100 I know) and what about causalities to infantry, armor, (it seems it is not always based upon unit strength) and how bout that all important exit of units.... I have searched all the old archives and have looked on CMHQ and others sites but I cannot find anything on the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to build the best scenarios I can, that are competitive, comprehensive, and most of all fun.. Thanx FredRocker
  7. Hey Todd I have seen that too a big time shell fallin out of the sky looking like a "fruit fly" and whamo.. hole in the ground and burning AFV... it doesnt get much better than that.. If I worried about everytime an AFV got took out by something sight unseen I would be bald (hell I do look like a cue ball)
  8. I have stuck a few of them in a test scenario within buldings of rubble... they dont seem to get spotted as quick but heck once they open up I dont think the get anything from the defense of the rubble terrain...I believe the 60-90 degree offset with a ATG will protect them. Also if you can get them on a hill in "hull down" (since they are considered a vehicle) that helps there defense a little... but then again they are only 46 points and I am positive with proper placement you can get 50 - 60 points out of them (wishfull thinkin) man I love this addiction
  9. Hi Winecape Send one this way... I have been posting some huge ones (as you say alot cant play... gotta learn to got it down) on The Proving Grounds if you want one back to playtest let me know... looking forward to it... the background sounds great !!!
  10. Hey Airx Send it my way I will give it a try... also try The Proving Grounds which is a great site for play testing and also finding PBEM dudes...
  11. Wow.. you all make excellent points, after reading this thread I think its time for a break. I like the idea of a FOW time limit that only the designer knows.. but not all the time... Speaking of all these time limits... How long is the setup phase in CM vs a real life time frame (an hour, a day, a month... ahhh) jeez I dont know if anyone can put an answer to that. Just another counrty heard from

  14. Looking for Playtesters for a new scenario called Rassenei. The Overview German Advance through the Baltic Frontier. In June of 1941 Army Group North was assigned a single Panzer Group with two Panzer Corps the 41st and 56th. These Corps attacked side by side. Von Mainstein’s 56th Corp progressed with little or no opposition, but the 41st Panzer Corp found itself involved in heavy fighting just to clear a way through the frontier defenses Game Length: 50 Turns (variable) Size: Large (1200 x 1200) Date: June 1941 Time: Dawn Region: North Allies: Soviet Infantry FOW FOW (1773 points) Axis: German Mechinized FOW FOW) (3389 points) Brief Description: German Advance through the Baltic Frontier Ground: Damp Weather: Rain Wind: Breezy SW Temperature: Cold Defender: Dug In Map Contours: Normal (2.5m) Allow Sewer Movement: Axis No, Soviet No Fanaticism: Axis Normal, Soviet Normal Battle Type: Axis Attack Map Edge Friendly To: W Allied, E Axis Map Edge for Exit: Axis West Flag Type Static: Static Flag Quantity: Large 1, Small 5 Best Played as: Axis vs AI Play Second as: Allies vs AI Computer should: Stick to Default you can find it here Rassenei Scenario at The Proving Grounds
  15. Hey FieldMarshall Its sounds real interesting Send it this way and I will give it a go against the AI. Also if you are looking for Playtesters go to The Proving Grounds I usually post my scenarios there for playtesting and feedback..
  16. Hey Sergei Downloaded "Road Patrol" and I read the overall Briefing.. it is next up with a head to head with a friend of mine (probably monday thru thursday). The briefing seemed awesome didnt want to take a peak at the setup cause I don't wanna have an advantage thou I probably will need it .. If you get a chance I have 3 scenarios (2 CMBO and one CMBB) at THE PROVING GROUNDS.. what an awesome site.. Good Luck and you will see a review soon...
  17. Ok Squad.. Smile for your X-Mas Picture On a serious note I have seen that picture!! I think it is from the RGAKFD archives... But with little frontal armor maybe they were used as a ferry service...with captured Germans as fodder..
  18. combatmissons.com (an awesome site) will let you see alot of the CMBO mods before you download. With CMBO you dont get to see the Mods in CMMOS except for a small graphic with options to pick formation markings, etc... Though under the Ruleset you should see a complete write up of each mod. Since I have only been using it for a few months I know of no other way to determine this... I built a map with all units and terrain (took about 2 hours) and then I load the Mod and check the Map.. time consuming maybe.. but let me tell ya I designed a couple of scenarios called "A Walk in the Sun" and "Goomerville" and all of Magua's Normandy Mods made them look a whole ton better... With CMMOS for CMBB you can see the mod up front in the Mod tab before applying it in the Ruleset.. hope this helped... and once you get the addiction the zillion years will seem like a few hours
  19. $40 for CMAK.... Thats a steal... I spend $40 on a 14yr old bottle of Oban every couple of days..I thought that was my only addiction in life... Then I got CMBO and CMBB and I became a new kind of addict... Hey Panzertruppe not only would the Ferrari's get the boyz around the map quicker They are also always in hull down postion while going 200mph... And for all you non-addicts the Oban only affects my LOS for a turn or 2
  20. Hey Graeme Thanks for the input...sorry about the size... because of my job I have a killer PC at home (2.4ghz, 1gb ram etc) and when I got hooked into creating Stompout (I mean it was like an addiction) I forgot about the size and playability for other users..... I am working on two more scenarios one for CMBO and one for CMBB both should be medium size of smaller... I have no plans this weekend except to slurp down some scotch and watch the race from BRISTOL(awesome I usually go but not this year ) So I will get some of your scenarios and start to check them out.... sounds like we are on the same plain..... Oh and by the way... all them trucks... I just figured that a complex like that would have a batch of them laying around... though in one playtest I did as the allies I did use them alot... did you see the 76 mm's located in the houses on the hill...(sneaky) My friend playtested as the germans and tried to flank on the north side and ended up with alot of broken and dead units from those babys.... your right about the individual intense firefights... thats what we discovered in the playtesting... I sorta enjoyed that aspect... Well take care and I will let you know how I make out with some of your scenarios... And I will keep you posted on my next two FredRockin into the night!!!!! PS - I cant wait for CMAK did you see the bones from Madmatt... AWESOME.... I love addiction !!!!!
  21. Graeme I tell you what, I have been playing CMBO and CMBB for about 3 months and I love it. But a few weeks back I took my first crack at creating a scenario. I was addicted, my every waking hour when not at work for 15 straight days was put into the creation, fine tuning, research, loading Mods, etc of trying to make it great (if that makes me weird then I am fine with that). Not sure how it will fly though, I did have some friends playtest it and they thought is was good I just posted it last night at The Proving Ground and at The Scenario Depot. Both sites are awesome, plus the "Admiral" was great and it was there within 8 hours. Then I celebrated with a bottle of Oban 14 yr old and... Geez I already started working on one for CMBO ( I think I have been gaffed) Let me know when you post one and I will try it out... My first is called Stompout and if you get a chance check it out FredRocker
  22. Dont "Jump Jack"... I agree with you on most of these issues.. I too seem to think my sniper becomes easly exposed based on taking one shot... must be the big muzzle "flash" ha ha.. but they do a good job of buttoning up an AFV at a nice distance without exposing other potentially lethal units.. (like that Hiding 57mm AT gun at the edge of the woods over there)... So Madhouse I use them as spotters and a way to keep the AFV's buttoned up... just one man's opinion... FredRock Look at those quotes "Jump Jack Flash" ... hmmmm to much Oban
  23. Hi Unc... Well when you click on the link for the download your machine should ask you what you want to do with the file...(Open, Save, bla bla bla) what you wanna do is SAVE IT... and if you save it (need to locate where you loaded the game...example e:/program files/cmbb) in your CMBB/Saved Games directory or your CMBB/Scenario directory you should see it in the menu of CMBB (same for CMBO).. The thing is the file must be a .cme extension file for CMBB and a .cmc extension for CMBO... I hope this helps ... Good Luck and enjoy the gaming... if you have any other problems just send me and e-mail and I can probably put some screen captures together to help you... FredRock
  24. The name of Scenario is Stompout. (at the Scenario Depot and The Proving Grounds) Well its been play tested 6 times, 4 by me and 1 each by a couple of CM friends and after a few minor fixes its done. Playing Axis vs AI is very challenging because of the excellent defensive placements of the Russian Guards and in 4 of the 6 playtests it was a minor Axis victory the others were major Axis victories. Here is the basic overview: (yes it is fictional but there is some research behind it) "In the winter of 1941 Intelligence units of the Wehrmach discover a concealed factory compound along the Gulf of Finland near the town of Petrodvorets. It is determined that the Russians were using this compound for Research and Development on a new high velocity anti-tank weapon. In a secret meeting in early January 1942 Hitler informes the head of Fallschrimjager-Regiment 1, Major General Bruno Brauer (Knights Cross for service in Holland May 1940) that he must devise a mission to gain control of the compound along with its guarded secrets, and if that is not possible to destroy it with the help of reserves from the 8th Panzer Division lead by Major General Erich Brandenberger (Knights Cross 15, July 1941). German Air Reconnaissance shows a strong placement of flak batteries in the area. Intelligence also figures, that the compound is protected by a minimum of a battalion strength force of Russian Guards of the 49th Rifle Division. Brauer's mission (named "Stompout") calls for an airbourne drop early dawn (H hour) of February 5th. The drop will consist of seven specially trained companies (+) from his first regiment. Three companies are to be dropped to the west-north-west of the factory compound. Two other companies will be dropped to the south-west of the compound. With the final two companies being dropped in reserve a short time later west of the compound. Brandenberger who is annoyed at the idea of an Elite Panzer unit playing second fiddle to the Luftwaffe Fallschrimjager, informs Brauer that he will send two to four companies of mechanized armor to arrive from the south the early morning of the 5th to support in the destruction of the factory compound if it cannot be taken by the Luftwaffe." So if anyone wants to give it a try I would appreciate it. Also please provide any comments GOOD, BAD or UGLY.... as for me I havent done anything but worked on this and gone to work for the last week or so...Now its time for some Oban 14 yr old (just a bottle) These games are awesome... another addiction ! its located here http://www.the-proving-grounds.com/scenario_details_link.html?sku=28
