  1. Hello When upgrading from an earlier version of CMBB to version 1.03 will this affect any secenario's that are in the development stage and what other possible things could be affected. I am trying to play a friend in his first PBEM be he has an older version of CMBB and he is worried during upgrade that his scenario's under design will be affecct.. any input would be appreciated.. Regards FredRocker
  2. Gentlemen If you go to my scenario page... link below... and click on the name of the scenario's you can see what I put in my Main Briefing.. Allied Briefing, Axis Briefing... etc... the only thing that is also included in the briefings in the scneario itself is the "force makeup".. per each side of course... dont want to post spoilers at the web site.. Regards, FredRocker
  3. Then it must be the small tool thing
  4. Hey NewbieDragon Did you save it in the "Scenario" Directory or the "Saved" Games Directory (this is CMBO I hope)cause I had the same problem... save it to the scenario directory and then it should work Hope this helps FredRocker [ October 24, 2003, 10:33 AM: Message edited by: Fredrock1957 ]
  5. Wow! 77 and playing games! He's a cool man. Give my best regards to him from somewhat cold (the temperature is -8C now) Finland and tell him also to keep up the positive mood - it helps. I salute also you Fredrock1957, you do a good job. </font>
  6. Hey StormDog I think by nature we are all competitive and want to win.. I find though, that as a novice to the game I can learn a lot from different opponents. Take my virtual friend GJK for example; not only do we play against each other but we also discuss things like; scenario design, force balance, etc.. So when playing him its a different kind of game then playing someone just to beat them... All the options are great IMO... if you had asked me 3 months ago would I PBEM, I would have said "Not Me"... now I find that it is a pleasent part of my daily routine... go figure.. but then again.. its just my opinion... Regards FredRocker
  7. I play my neighbor in hotseat mode a couple times a month. He is 77 and has bone cancer and doesnt get out much.. Took me a few times to show him how to play the basics. (he is a former 1st Infantry Division Corporal) He has the desire and is turning into a pretty good player. I could see where it could be fun against a challenging opponent. But for my friend it is good therapy, its about the only time he smiles (especially when he takes out one of my AFV's).. Plus he smiles during the glasses of fine german brandy between the turns. . As for any other friends "all vitural" isnt that right GJK
  8. I am playing 4 right now.. Have gone as high as 7 but I find over 5 it gets quite hectic, especially on a busy night I guess whatever number you feel comfortable at works.. I try to spend 3-4 hours a day 4-5 days a week playin, and always try to provide one turn a day to my opponents. I dont like to rush my moves and love to check all possible LOS/LOF angles. The scary part of all this is I spend the rest of my awake hours thinkin an analyzing the upcoming turns.... Is there a rehab center for CM addiction!!
  9. Hi CombinedArms Have you ever thought of posting it at The Proving Grounds I find it to be an excellent site with great feedback for scenario and operation designers. Oh yea.. Plus you can find a lot of good opponets there !! Regards FredRocker [ October 23, 2003, 11:11 AM: Message edited by: Fredrock1957 ]
  10. Hey Patrocles The point of The Proving Grounds is to have people test the new scenario's and give you feedback. It works rather well. Plus there is an ongoing discussion area for each scenario so the designer can chat with the playtester's and get questions etc. answered... So even if its not ready, this site will help you make it that way.. Trust me I have created a few Bombs Regards FredRocker
  11. Hi Stoffel Have you tried posting it at The Proving Grounds. If you go there and just look up all the CMBB Scenario's you will notice that more than 70% are reviewed... I know I get good feedback there (well not all good but feedback just the same) They have a cool bunch of guys who are into Operations... Just an Idea Regards, FredRocker [ October 09, 2003, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: Fredrock1957 ]
  12. Hi GJK/All I think The Proving Grounds is a great site. I have posted many Scenario's there and found that members actually play them and give you feed back (good, bad or ugly). it helps me refine and fix scenarios to make them more playable for the rest of the CM community. The Scenario Discussion area is an incredible concept and works really well. I have gotten some great input from there.. All I can say to anyone involved with CM, check out The Proving Grounds you will not be disappointed. FredRocker
  13. First thing I did when I reloaded CMBO on a new machine was Mod it out... First thing I did when I got CMBB was see what needed some Mod's... Still Modding that out.... First thing when I get CMAK (well maybe not first thing ) To me it is much more enjoyable with the Mods FredRocker
  14. Hello All Just posted over the weekend two new scenario's at The Proving Grounds The first one is named "Something about Nadia" a brief overview: Poor Nadia, her father was a member of an elite group of militia in the Finnish sector in 1941. Nadia was captured by the Finnish Army and knows of secret Russian Army formations. The object here is to rescue Nadia before the Finn’s get to interrogate her. Nadia is being held in on the Estate of Marshall Field (an American rich guy who owns summer property in Finland)<ha>. The Map is based upon Caumsett State Park in Lloyd Neck on Long Island.( In 1921 Marshall Field III purchased 1750 acres of Lloyd Neck to create one large estate. He named the land after its Matinecock Indian name, Caumsett, which means "place by a sharp rock.") The Second Scenario is a little one called "Yazgur's Farmstead to the Max" an overview follows: In June 1943 an Axis Infantry Recon Group comes upon a small farmhouse and a bridge. After radio communications with Regimental HQ about the house and bridge, Captain Stephan Stillsmier is told to take the house and hold until reserves from the Regiment show up. You know the story… Take the Farmhouse… You know the Allies will try to prevent you… You have 8 minutes to get it done. Based upon my CMBO scenario "A Walk in the Sun" This scenario is designed for a quick bloody battle which new members to the CM community can get their feet wet playing a PBEM or TCP\IP game. The scenarios are also available for download at my site. (see link below) Have a great day FredRocker
  15. Hiya Jimmie Boy Thanks for the feedback... I enjoy all feedback good, bad or ugly, it will just make me a better designer..... Only thing.. I did play Goomerville as a hotseat with my neigbor a few weeks back and I didnt have any bogging problems...though I believe he had one of his reinforcement Panzers bog after coming out of the east woods. maybe I was lucky... as a 2 player I ended up with a minor victory if I remember correctly 61-39 or something like that... Again thanks for the feedback its good to get different prospectives... FredRocker
  16. Hi there Over at The Proving Grounds We have a little discussion going on how long a scenarios name can be.. Example I have a scenario called "Yagurs Farmstead to the Max" and in the listing of scenarios (CMBB) The "Y" gets dropped off but it is sorted alphabetically in the "y" position.. Its not a big deal but someone over there just came up with a big long name and apparently is having some of the same things going on except more characters are missing.. Any feedback would be appreciated.... Plus you guys do an awesome job... And these are awesome products... my other 100 games are in there boxes gathering dust.. FredRocker
  17. Hey Jimmey Boy Thats cool... you play with yourself and with your own scenarios... and if you ever want to share let all of us know.. and yes I have tried to fix many an other, but then again I dont want to live in a perfect world...good luck in your own world... Oh by the way are you worried about posting your scenarios <since they must be perfect>..put them up at the The Proving Grounds and we will see what you got.... worried about feedback... Im not, crappy is crappy... and thats whats great about this... <smile>... we all have the same addiction... guess I came on a little to strong for you.... sorry.... are you that good... send me an PBEM... your pick... FredRocker... Oh by the way lets play one of yours.... where are they posted
  18. Hey Jimmie Boy If it bothers you that much... than dont download them... you ever think that the designers are making scenario's and spending their time for their own pleasure and hopefully that of others (90% or the scenarios at the depot or the proving grounds dont claim to be historic)... I know that I get a satisfaction out of creating them... so bitch if you want... create your own... its funny that your good at fixing others... while bitchin... IMO.... <smile>... you probably dont like all the mods too cause.. opps someone didnt put the camo in the right spot.... FredRockinontheedge
  19. MrSpkr I downloaded your Mud-Bogging.. I play a hotseat game with a neighbor 2 or 3 days a week.. will put it on the list... give me a week or two... also try posting it at The Proving Grounds which is a awesome site, with lots of playtesting going on and lots of discussion interfaces (they have a posting board for each scenario) between the designers and playtesters. FredRocker
  20. TRP ?? Whats that stand for "I havent Read the Manual Yet" FredRocker
  21. Yes I believe I read sometime ago that one reason for adding all the reinforcement markers to CMBB (because CMBO only allows 5) was specifically for the reason you describe. The ability to place one or two unit at exact locations for entry into the scenario Hey Panzerman... Thanx I forgot that you could also rotate them for appropriate facing...<stunad me> FredRocker
  22. Hi All Was Playtesting a scenario I wrote with a 75mm Pillbox and I went at it with an ATR about 100m and bang it was gone.. 2 shots... But the next test around it took 4 turns plus a couple rounds of a T26... so I guess you never know.. by the way the ATR was Reg. and the PB was Reg FredRocker
  23. Hey istari I agree with the Walpurgis Night... you gotta get on the flank... without doing that then "you got cant beat em" I always try to flank even with a split squad or so <just for observation>, hell sometimes by the time i do it the game is up <smile>... but if not for that you can't really bust them... <why do you think this is the great tactic that it is>.... IMO FredRocker
  24. I've never had good success with the Sneak command except maybe while lurking in some marsh or woods. I agree with Brightblade I have had the units with Sneak orders who just stop (I guess for a smoke break) In CMBO the best way to cover open ground (IMO) is to use the Run command with covering fire or smoke. Without a MG or mortar or something to keep the enemy's head down I don't care what you use to span the open ground.. you will lose some units... Wait if you havent seen how the MG works in CMBB... covering open terrain without supression fire "forgetaboutit" FredRocker
