  1. The "U-Shaped" T - 80 steel track (23-inch double-pin) was one of the options tested in 1943. According to "Sherman", OCM 21500 recommended the T - 80 track replacing the T - 66 track because it had a longer wear life. So, the T - 80 track would become more and more common as the war went on.
  2. So we will be seeing these. Nice. Making you feel better was about all they did. The armor value was basically nil. If your frontal steel plate armor isn't going to stop the AP shot, adding a sandbag to it won't do anything either.
  3. Ah, so the "tangible sense of dread" was accurate after all. Well, there is one way to deal with tunnels: I'll PM you a screenshot of the offending building soonest.
  4. I did discover one building impossible to enter, until I blasted the wall around it with 120mm fire.
  5. Great. Now I'm glad I saved all of that artillery ammo. Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD! You've been warned...
  6. THEN CONSIDER ME WILDLY VICTORIOUS! SUPREMELY VICTORIOUS! ULTIMATELY VICTORIOUS! I just finished the scenario. Video to follow. Damage was kept to an absolute minimum. In fact, I'd go so far as to say the residents of this portion of the city can go home immediately. It does seem my unorthodox style allowed me to bypass quite a few headaches. That looming sense of dread I told you about? Never materialized. I fed men into the grinder, secured all remaining buildings (and Phase Line Charlie, as well as two hidden objectives), and clicked the cease-fire button. Result: Major Victory.
  7. I tried to explain it several times already, to no avail.
  8. I hope we see an up-armored Sherman variant as well. According to 'Armored Thunderbolt' Patton hated the "sandbags and concrete" versions of up-armoring, so he had his maintenance guys cut armor plates from disabled tanks and weld it to the front of his Shermans. They were around in a "one or two per company" ratio, or used to lead columns whenever the E2 Assault Shermans were not available.
  9. What I can't understand is why I'm forcing myself to move faster than I should. I have 57 minutes left on the clock, and I'm only a block and a half from the final phase line, but for some reason I'm kicking in doors and running down streets in a way I really shouldn't be, as if the battle will be over in just a few minutes. There is some type of emotional reaction I'm having to this scenario, a tangible sense of a looming threat, that is forcing me to act in ways I would never do otherwise. I seem to have gotten stuck into a headspace that screams "GO FASTER, FASTER!!" "FASTER I SAID!!" When all that is doing is piling casualties on top of each other to no real gain. I don't know how to explain it any better. I wouldn't say I'm not enjoying it, but I'm definitely not having fun. I guess I'm just not the type to carpet bomb my way to victory. I'm already so deathly afraid of hitting my own men I've cancelled all incoming support calls. EDIT: If I were a more ruthless commander, I would have simply blasted down a corridor through the buildings and advanced to the phase line through the rubble.
  10. Just wanted to come in and say, I had played a bit more of "The Hornet's Nest" (vid on my youtube) but honestly, things have progressed to the point where I am feeling a sense of dread every time I click the red button. I even have to admit I save scummed a turn, which is nearly unheard of in my gaming practice. MOUT is quite simply an absolute nightmare.
  11. Yes, and you've done a good job making the licensing system easy and intuitive. It certainly is a far cry from the old E-License System used for Shock Force. I do think the customer deserves to take some responsibility for using the product correctly though. Having recently installed Shock Force, Battle for Normandy, and Fortress Italy, using three different installation types (fresh on my Win 10 machine), using both physical media (Shock Force and CMBN + Commonwealth + Market Garden) as well as the all-digital installers (CMBN 3.0 and 4.0 Upgrades, and CMFI Master Installer), I had absolutely no problems with any of it, so long as one actually sits down and thinks for a few minutes before clicking the 'Install' button. At any time one can simply come to the forum and ask for help. People here are more than happy to provide step-by-step instructions for those having difficulty.
  12. DRM has been around since software was invented. Once upon a time, when you bought a PC game, it came with a 16 digit serial number that was printed inside the game manual. That serial number had to be entered during the installation process, or you couldn't play your game. Period. Your setup is largely similar, and is not difficult to use. I don't get why people are complaining...
  13. There is something useful they can do. Dismount, and use them as medics until they get some extra weapons.
  14. We could be seeing something related to the old 'King Tiger Mantlet' bug, where the armor of tubular shaped mantlets wasn't being counted.
  15. Darn it Steve, just make things we can spend money on! I don't think we'll be too picky about what form it takes.
  16. To address the question about the 'Advance' order, I can quote a bit from memory: Advance simulates the dashing from cover, to cover. Thus it results in lower unit exposure to enemy fire while moving, but heavily taxes fatigue for the duration of the movement.
  17. Just wanted to check in, say hi, and explain how the work is done. Now that the holiday season is over, I actually have a few hours of spare time to work on the next video.
