  1. I read review the app as in parse its title and content, was thinking they do not road test it extensively.
  2. yankeedog are you saying the appstore does no quality checks to ensure seemless operation?
  3. gibson I own all the CMSF games and really you have a clunky in-house mouse control version only. It makes it hard to track units and follow the actions. It makes your guess whether your mouse is hitting the correct edge for the correct spin direction. It is most certainly not as elegant as what is standard in most RTS games. I spend just as much time getting my camera angle right as playing the game.
  4. first you sign away exclusive rights... then you agree to be an apple groupie, then you agree to apple taking all your profits, then you agree to modify the game down to the average MAC users level Simple.
  5. hintj I would ask where then the AI that makes combat mission shock force better than TOW2 is?
  6. I liked the veteran inits and the individual unit markings on all of the tanks.... great detail. Another great thing about it is that it deals with rare theatres and armies like africa and the italian army campaign. the american army in tunisia. I have caen and will have to play that next
  7. I am not as worried about experience, i am more worried about the camera. The camera is what has shied many of my friends away after playing the demo. RTS camera style like in the total war games is what i want. I dont like having to guess at the edge of the screen what point goes left and what does not, its clunky and its guess work at best. Not good in a real time firefight. I really hope they also get rid of the menu resolution restrictions. I hate reading that tiny writing and looking at the tiny map centred on a massive screen. Also trenches? TOW2 did that well.
  8. fair enough. Guess you need a whole campaign to be good at something/gain experience. I did like it in CC as a way of getting attached to the men. It also makes every squad unique. Which is realistic. In cm normandy I bet the squads have clone like stats.
  9. a) Has the camera been fixed so that it allows more natural RTS camera? The camera is very annoying at the moment when it comes to getting the right angle/view. Are the sounds less generic than they were in CMSF. I'm looking forward to a rich sound experience but this was thrown into doubt when textures for uniforms needed to conform to low spec machines. c) Will men gain experience between missions in the campaign? Much like close combat?
  10. Thanks. Don't know why I was thinking Virtual RAM Must have been a blond day or a beer day. cannot remember which. As for video ram I have 768mb dedicated in a GTX 460. A very cheap card, but it does the job. I think CMSF minimum was ~ 256mb of video memory.
  11. If it requires new animations will the community be able to mod them on as suggested in other threads? As for VRAM that is something available in spades I would have thought. For instance I have 500gb free hdd space and 8gig physical ram on 64bit.
  12. Do we really need this before getting to the Russian front? Where the Russians used tanks as virtual APCs. I agree it would be nice but not essential.
  13. Don't mention this as forum goers will just shout you down saying its not finalised yet I too will add that I'm sure BF are well aware of this.... I agree that it would be nice to have the infantry look as in your picture.
  14. I'd love to see Americans identifying everything that they could not be positive of as a tiger Especially when they were hardly up against any in normandy ? Anyways I did love that feature in the original games. I know its a tank, but what is it? I would also love to see the communications differences between the allies and german armies to be included. IIRC the germans were well behind the americans in this area. Being less skilled at tank/infantry comms for instance and not really carry man portable radios commonly. I was eyeing an osprey book on this very subject today.
  15. me too. Be nice to add both character and a real AI to the game. I think somewhere in the other forum it was confirmed that the 3-4 route AI methid is staying.
  16. Why would green and grey be in development? Why make a grey place holder? Seems silly to me. That is unless the grey was a flat colour and the green/grey is a more complex texture.
  17. Hi Guys, Is it still confirmed that a German campaign will come with release? regards Des
  18. does the mission generator also generate a campaign?
  19. yep ... people are also becoming 64 bit fast. Its very frustrating to have a good computer with code that cannot take advantage of it....
  20. well i can truly say that theatre of war has saved my bacon while i wait for CMSF normandy
  21. yes good idea. Keep a massive stack of CDs to lose for years only to find they are scratched or lost in a move next time you need to re-install. I'm afraid thats an archaic way to go next to the power of the cloud. It is also something most people never really get around to doing. Unless they are amazingly organised... lets be realistic... how many of us are like that? Especially when it comes to a game? Or the USB stick, a good example of what people should NEVER use to backup. Those things actually almost have a used by date and are so breakable. People also tend to use them and lose them. I am one who has kept having to re-apply for e-license resets after computer crashes (no chance to uninstall). Not a fan of the DRM, but am a fan of the games that come from here. I am though fan of the two install deal per copy. Thats just some feedback for you. Hope it does not come across too strong. I do respect and will keep on buying from you as a great platform for keeping obscure niche wargaming titles alive.
  22. Battlefront are only the disty and in competition with steam... prolly head to the 1C forums
  23. I agree horndog this is an excellent game in its current iteration
