  1. Any of you boys playing the ROW finals?
  2. Allied pilots always prefer their Jagdpanthers sitting on a hill...
  3. I think Eric is still working on his operation. In scale I think it will replicate 'To the Volga'. If you wish to test his Op I would email him through these pages... BTW, B&T have an operation coming out in the next few days dealing with the action at Cheneux. Stay tuned!
  4. Hi guys, I'm currently working on a historically accurate version of the Stoumont Operation you're talking of. It will be out shortly at Boots & Tracks
  5. "Oh, look at this! Over here we have a crotchless Mike Whiner. Isn't it beautiful?? Well, he's certainly incapable of being "master of his own destiny now folks!" </font>
  6. GRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!! Snap Snap Snap.... Ironically, the Australain Blue Healer has one of the highest jaw pressures of all dogs and is one of the most likely to bite... We call ours Emmie.
  7. I checked out VASL but it really doesn't hold a patch against CM, and it just ain't ASL enough for me. Strange but true... Don't get me wrong here, I have every intention of finishing 'A Bridge Too Far' with my buddy but it's just finding the time. At the mo' we're swapping 2 or 3 pbems a day of "The Stalingrad Packs', Sixth Army Probe" (and may I say what a ripper it's turning out to be, thanks Jeff!), but that ole hex map of downtown Arnhem keeps gathering dust, and those rules get dimmer and dimmer... We started the game back in 2000 and it's been gripping ever since but it's just trying to find the time... Since then my mate has developed two excellent versions for CM of the Arnhem Drop, but ASL has taken a back seat somewhat... Well, that's it! Time to start re-reading the rules... Hang on, I'll just check my pbems first...
  8. I'll second that!! I loved that scenario!!! </font>
  9. I'm currently reading 'The Devil's Adjutant, Jochen Peiper, Panzer Leader' by Michael Reynolds. Man, it rocks!
  10. So, no offence to Combined Arms here, but the question being raised now is, Had the Germans lost already by December 1944 and there was no way they could force a peace by any means? I wonder what all those resources could have done if they were used in the east... Regardless, the Allies in the west had to cross their biggest obstacle, the Rhine. PS, nice post Mies
  11. I think the Fifth Panzer Army, the Sixth Panzer Army, and the Seventh Army probably equals more than a 'few divisions'. Figures I have indicate in November/December the Germans 'sent 2277 new AFV's west and only 919 new AFV's east.' (Osprey, Ardennes 1944, James R Arnold) The 'small solution' is at least realististic. Hitler's plan involved them 'capturing' fuel supplies along the way. If I was a gambling man I'd say he was rolling the dice and hoping for snake eyes every time.
  12. Hitler bled the East Front to carry out the operation in the first place. The following offensive by the Soviets in the East was more successful as a result. Units that could never be replaced were lost. Any assault in the west would cost the integrity of the eastern defence when it was needed the most, without any definite, realisable gain. Berlin was taken by the Soviets... If Hitler had not pushed for the assault, the face of central Europe may have looked very different for the last 60 years.
  13. You need to do a little research Tiger... Read up on some desert tactics
  14. Hehehe Art is having a 9-2 Leader that can do no wrong... Personally I find ASL more intimate, there is a rule for everything and everything has a rule... Successful units battle harden... and you see every dice roll, regardless of who won the arguement... But CM sure is a hell of alot more fun, ain't it? I mean, FOG 'IS' FOG! Your can't see squat!
  15. The Dice Rolls That's what I want to see!
  16. I've been trying to get round to a certain mates place to finish 'A Bridge Too Far' for about 2 years now. I really wanted to get round there over the last 2 weeks as I was on holidays... The map is laminated and taped to a table and all the generic counters are stuck to the board. Except the rubble where I've printed out rubble hex stickers and stuck them on the map to save clutter... It will take me about 2 hours to set all of Frost's Tommies up. I work shift and he works days. He lives on the other side of town and has no car... (He also joins the navy at the end of the year.) But, man, we swapped about 2 or 3 PBEMs a day and played TCP 3 times. We're finishing 'When Worlds Collide' from the Excellent Stalingrad Pack... CM is great! I do miss the dice though... there's nothing like seeing bad luck first hand!
