  1. Albeit, being an Australian,I've got to back everything that's been said about the OWEN GUN. There's something to be said about a machine pistol that can be drenched in mud and then will still shoot as many IJA that can pop their heads up. Hell, it was made out of pressed parts, dirt cheap to make and as reliable as heck. You can cite the MP44 etc... but anything including this is an assault rifle... the M16 etc; whatever... and the MG3 well, excellent yes but give me a mini gun any day...
  2. You sure it isn't the skynet virus an' that T3 chick ain't comin' to hunt me down... she sure is hot an' I sure don' want no anti virus!!!!
  3. I don't have any pig poo... should I get some as an anti virus???
  4. Anything like 'Flat Top'? Now that was an excellent board game!
  5. I'm currently playing this pbem as the Germans against an old adversary. We're only up to T10 I think, but it took me days to work out a set up and I feel a real hell of a battle is on the horizon... Excellent briefing too Jeff! Richie
  6. You wait and wait and wait for the next Tournament to start. This tournament takes a _lot_ of putting together: it uses brand new scenarios, all created for the tournament. Regretably, then, these things only start rarely. I (for one) would love to see more tournaments, if only we could figure out a good way of running one without needing scenarios that the combatants haven't seen before. I ponder this from time to time, and have some ideas. Is anyone else interested? GaJ. </font>
  7. Hmmm, yeah, I got some crappy emails too, but you can't blame CMMODs. What we really need to do is send the wankers who write these viruses straight to the electric chair. I've always liked my steaks well done...
  8. So, can you host TCP running McAfee's v 7.0? It seems to offer similar options to Zone Alarm from what I hear but I haven't been able to make it work... Bueller... Bueller... anyone?
  9. Oh yeah... BTW you may want to try 'Battle For The Reichstag' available from Boots and Tracks. This was destined to be RD9 if the tourney hadn't stalled. Good luck at the front, Richie
  10. Try refering to Kingfish via the ROW thread in the CMAK forum. I think you'll find the RD tourney has faltered... Richie
  11. This sounds like a great idea! Which scenarios are featured so far? Richie Boots and Tracks.
  12. I have to agree here. Units that have been ordered to 'withdraw' or 'run' end up panicked and then moving toward enemy units even when well away from them initially. I've also seen dodgy decisions from veteren 'Firefly's' I've had to correct next move phase, often too late then...
  13. Just a point... I think CM is supposed to be fun isn't it?... and war.. where people really get shot... well that's historically accurate...? Sorry, Sergei/Michael, sometimes the cinisism parodies a certain reality that can take the fun out of the original concept... perhaps and Senachai, he just hates Australians anyway..? 14. Thanks for your kind reviews guys! A couple of issues have been raised here and I'll address my reasons behind them for clarity's sake. I do appreciate the feedback though. It's all helpfull! SPOILERS AHEAD Re the number of turns; As stated in the briefing, Stalin demanded the Reichstag have the Soviet flag flying over it in time for Mayday in Moscow. In reality, resistance in the building itself continued for two more days from the cellars, finally ending on May 2 with 200 Germans killed, 500 injured and 300 surrendering. Clearly the AI will not put up as stout a defence as a human opponent will, but it was my desire to place pressure on the Soviet player here to capture the building, by t45 (the Mayday deadline) or face Stalin's wrath and Beria's horrors for the failure... Having read a little about the final days of the Russian assault it becomes clear the importance Stalin placed on having the building and how eager Zhukov and others were to appease him. It's always a personal thing and everyone will have there own opinion but I feel giving the Soviet player more time to complete the task throws things in his favour. I mean, he's unlikely to run out of men. Re the guns on Washingtonplatz; Over Washingtonplatz the Soviets had positioned many artillery pieces, up to 100 on the day of the assault. The guns there are more symbolic than a realistic attempt to recreate the equipment at the Soviet players disposal. They were never included in any balance assessment. If I hadn't included any I may be answering, 'Why are there no guns on Washintonplatz?' from some Grog somewhere, 'coz there were hundreds on the day!!!' Hence the abundant Soviet artillery provided via spotters. Re the briefing; Yeah, you got me there. Not the standard format. Things got a little rushed and I could have set them out a little better. Thanks again guys! I hope this shines a light in some dark places. Cheers, Richie
  15. Hehehe. Thanks, it's good to know someone appreciates all my hard work. Feel free to review it at the Scenario Depot when you've finished too. There will be a prequel out shortly, Across the Moltke Bridge, also to be available at B&T. Richie
  16. If you turn off your XP internal firewall you will leave your system wide open for virus's, hackers and worms. This can be very, very bad. I know from recent experience. All advice recommends using Zone Alarm as your firewall instead. This is a free download but may have conflict issues with any other firewall you are running. You can configure the port to allow traffic from one specific IP address. It works but it's a bugger to get rid of when you try and uninstall it. Can you get a friend to host instead?
  17. Never... Ever... Turn off your internal XP firewall if thats what your running. VERY, VERY BAD. Sure you can play on line but you will eventually get wormed... I have been told if your going to run a fire wall, Zone Alarm is the go. On the other hand if your playing from a Mac it's all good. You can't lose!
