CMA... an overlooked gem... hugely immersive...
Aragorn2002 replied to kipanderson's topic in Combat Mission Afghanistan
CMA is indeed slighly overlooked. It sure was by me. But not anymore. I bought it and enjoy it a lot. Pity there are no NATO-units in it and the present situation is not represented. -
Perhaps this discussion should stop before people get insulted, guys....

CM:BN vs PC:O like Blur vs Oasis?
Aragorn2002 replied to Nicdain's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Mad Russian made some of the best scenarios around for CMBB, so let's not get personal. As far as I know he was also a civilized forum member. Frustrated in the end perhaps, but that is another story. Let's leave it at that. And yes, CMBN will be far superior to PCO. Of course it will. There is room enough for both games, as BF already stated, but comparing them is....well, pointless. Having said that, I'm sure PCO will be fun and I will certainly try it. And no, CMBB will never die. I still enjoy it, although I must admit I'm spending more time nowadays with CMSF and CMA. -
Best books about the Battle for Normandy ?
Aragorn2002 replied to Wiggum's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I recommend the Over the Battlefield-series by Ian Daglish. Operation Epsom, Goodwood and Bluecoat. For me some of the best books around on the fighting in the British sector. -
RAMADI (Iraq): Mother of All MOUT Maps
Aragorn2002 replied to LongLeftFlank's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Stunning map. Well done. -
Funny thing is I have exactly the same problem with both games. When I start a game the sounds works fine, but as soon as I ALT-TAB to desktop and back again, the sound is gone or pretty messed up. I'm trying to sort it out with the excellent helpdesk of BF. As soon as we've worked it out, I will post the solution here. If there is one.

Panthers, Panthers and Panthers. And the 251/9. And the Puma. And the Jagdpanzer IV. And Panthers. -
Once CMBN is installed...
Aragorn2002 replied to Bradley's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I hope a lot of scenarios against the AI will be included. I will play them first and read the manual at the same time. -
Flickering screen CMSF
Aragorn2002 replied to Aragorn2002's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
In case somebody experiences the same problem, it is solved now, but I haven't found out what did the trick exactly. It might have had something to do with the drivers, but I really don't know. I made a complete new install of Windows 7 and new drivers among other things. Just for future reference. -
Flickering screen CMSF
Aragorn2002 replied to Aragorn2002's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
Schrullenhaft, I've also posted my question at the helpdesk and I think you or your colleague there did ask me the same questions. I did answer your questions by mail and will continue to do so, if that is okay with you. -
I have a problem. Some weeks ago I've made some improvements on my computer. I've installed Windows 7 64 bits and a ASUS EAH5770 video card, among other things. When I start CMSF now, the screen starts to flicker. I can load the game, walk through the menu and start a scenario, but the flickering continues. Can anybody advise me how to solve this? My computer is a AMD Athlon IIX4 640 Processor 3.01 GHz with 4 GB RAM.

Any news, Vark?
-
Right. Just ordered this game without thinking twice.
-
I'm an idiot. Really. The helpdesk of BF pointed out to me I had to install the other patches first....which I didn't....Sorry about that. It works fine now.
-
I've installed the 1.04 patch for CMBB, because of the black boxes problem. However now my Pz IVH's have turned into bright white boxes. The shape of the vehicles are good, but there is no texture anymore, only total whiteout. I use Windows 7 and my video card is ASUS EAH5770. Please advise anyone.

So.. When can we pre-order?
Aragorn2002 replied to phil stanbridge's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
After playing CMSF (and boy, did I hesitate) I will pre-order CMN without thinking twice. I'ms sure it will make us forget lots of other games. I'm also very interested in the Arnhem module. The future does look bright. -
close combat and scavengers
Aragorn2002 replied to fabiovir's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I have a question about the close combat aspect. What will happen when two units stumble upon each other? How will they fight it out? Can bayonets or spades be used? -
Need help with CMBO running Win7 on Boot Camp
Aragorn2002 replied to sluggo337's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Thanks, Schrullenhaft. I don't mind paying a bit for being able to continue to play CMBO/CMBB/CMAK. And with regard to fog. For me it is absolutely essential. I'm going to use the ATI Radeon 4850 X2, so hopefully that will allow fog. At the moment I use GeForce 8800. -
Need help with CMBO running Win7 on Boot Camp
Aragorn2002 replied to sluggo337's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Will CMBO, CMBB and CMAK run well with Windows 7? Currently I'm using Windows XP 64, but I'm thinking of upgrading to Windows 7. But not if it means losing my favorite games.
