  1. Superb Panther mod, Earl, and the first for GD, as far as I know. You really have the talent to pick out remarkable camo patterns. EXCELLENT!!
  2. Very nice indeed. Great mod, Chrizwit, always a pleasant surprise when new, talented modders appear. Keep them coming please.
  3. I did use the wrong name. Sorry about that, and thank you for your help.
  4. I know this is not the right place, but I have a problem logging into the Repository. When I enter my username (the same as I use here, I pressume) and a newly asked password I simply can't get in. I feel like a little boy looking at a shop window with lots of goodies in it...;-) I've tried to register again, but since my mailadress is known already it won't work either. Can anyone advise please? I also can't reach the helpdesk.
  5. I can't log in into the Repository anymore. I've asked for several new passwords, but it simply won't work. Does anybody has the same problem. I also can't register again, since my mail-adress is already know.
  6. I'm looking for a good Jagdpanzer IV mod, and I remembered some time ago Earl Grey made some great modder's version of the Jagdpanzer IV series available. I wonder whether anyone ever used it to put camo on it? And if so who did, and where can I find it? I've looked at CMMODS, but I'm pretty sure it ain't there.
  7. Very nice, Umlaut! Thank you for your work, and keep them coming.
  8. I thought I knew that camoflage. Very well suited for AT guns, David, well done, and thank you. And enjoy your holidays.
  9. I dare say they are the best around, and that's high praise, since there are quite a few talented scenario developers for this game. This one is looking great as usual, George. Thanks to you and Charlie for all your work.
  10. All of them very nice, Dey, thank you for your work!
  11. They are all great mods, David, it is just a matter of taste. I would be happy to have half your modding skills.
  12. They look absolutely great, David. I like the rough look, it resembles what can be seen on photos of the real stuff. Not so thrilled about that winter ambush mod, would have preferred a normal winter mod for the G Late, but I'm delighted about the other mods. Thank you very, very much! My thanks of course also to Dey and MikeyD. Without you guys this would still be a great game, but less fun for sure.
  13. Well, the essence of this new defensive doctrine seems to have been: 1. Pulling back the troops, above all the infantry, from the expected massive enemy artillery preparation, and so preserve their fighting capability. 2. Decive the enemy as to the position and deployment of the German positions. 3. Nullify the basic elements of the enemy's attack and fire plans, and to force the enemy into new and costly preparations for the attack. 4. Win time. I will post more details, in case anyone is interested in them.
  14. I've ordered Tissiers book and will report on what he considers to be the new German defence doctrine of 1945 in a couple of weeks, although I expect we came pretty close to analysing it in this thread.
  15. Very impressive mod, and the division insignia are a nice touch too! Great idea.
  16. Nice worn look. I'll definitely will use this mod. Looks great.
  17. Again an interesting read, John. I really wonder whether there have been many succesful actions with 251/16s. Especially considering the vulnerability of the 251s, even against fire from small arms. I know of at least a few succesful actions, for example by the Hohenstaufen division, on the 29th of June 1944 near Grainville against the 8th Royal Scots in an orchard position (as described in Daglish ' Operation Epsom, over the battlefield'). It is mentioned in that book that ' Two armoured flame-throwing vehicles mader their way into the company areas, ' where they miled round and killed a lot of men in a particularly unpleasant manner before they withdrew'. If I understand correctly the RS was in the proces of being relieved by another unit, and probably in some sort of disorder. In those conditions one can imagine 251/16s being effective. Does anyone know of other actions with 251/16s?
  18. Wonderful information indeed. It will take me weeks to plough through it, but what amazing information can be found if you know where to look!
  19. That part of the doctrine can only have been of use when the front was more or less stabile, after things went mobile again it was pretty worthless, I guess. If I recall correctly the 'last minute withdrawl' was used a long time before 1945, even in Normandy and sooner. And as Raus stated, for such a tactic you need disciplined and experienced units, which weren't around much anymore in 1945. The result of such a withdrawl could easily have become a chaotic rout.
  20. DAF and John, both very interesting studies. Thank you. The most important aspect of the 'new' defensive doctrine seems to have been the last-minute withdrawl from the first line of resistance in order to avoid the artillery barrage, which must have sound a lot easier than it must have been in practice. Especially given the impressive infiltration skills of the Russians and their skills in hiding their offensive preparations. And yes, these studies have to be used with caution, since Raus obviously wanted to impress the people who asked him to make the studies. Still, fascinating stuff.
  21. Excellent, John, thank you very much. I'm gonna read it right away.
  22. Thank you, DAF. Can't seem to find it in 'Panzers on the eastern front', but it makes sense, considering the limited resources of the Germans by that time. I will buy Le Tissiers book as soon as the paperback version is available. Until that time I'm hoping for more details by you, or anyone else. Enough experts here, one would say.
