  1. i got the RSS feed for this and had to post congrats; this is very exciting news i think. i can smell the Shermans burning already. CM: N does come with smello-vision right?
  2. wanted to let you know i am loving this Vulture; lots of drama and anticipation. thanks for doing it.
  3. Thanks so much for doing these; they are incredibly enjoyable to read. Good luck!
  4. It appears that Valve's Steam was the culprit. case closed. thanks
  5. On a further note, the game now locks up once i click "next" in the command briefing, which has no images etc in it. The OS is reporting my driver is stopping and recovering once i kill CM...
  6. Hi there I just swapped out my aging 8800gt for an ati 4890 and find that my CMSF is graphically corrupted now, both new games and saved games. I've wiped out my prefs and redone them, but the problem remains the same. In addition, i allow the games to set all parameters and don't force anything through the drivers. I play many games and this is the only one experiencing this problem. In the olden days of yore ATI cards had issues with fog in CM1, if do recall correctly; is there a new issue with ATI and CM2? thanks for any help or suggestions, Bart
  7. i just wanted to say thanks for bringing back the blue bar. i really did try RT, but it was always a chore for me...as people have mentioned it's like seeing a very dear friend again you thought was dead! take care.
  8. Small two points: 1) i am an ardent fan of the CM games, and count myself a long time vet of the games and these forums (primarily in the lurker capacity) 2) i've given up on CM:SF for reasons listed throughout this thread and also a few more. there is little that could be done to lure me back, short of implementing WEGO exactly as it was in the original engine. Not possible, i know! 3) I bought CMSF despite hating the modern warfare theme. I bought the game as much to support the company as to see if i would enjoy it. I still patch every time one comes out, on the off chance i'll want to play. 4) I **AM** holding out for the next revision, WW2 Westfront. I trust the team to resolve the technical issues as best they can, and i look forward to revisiting all those great scenarios. Hopefully my enjoyment of WW2, will outweigh what i find to be a cumbersome and frustrating UI and a disappointing TB portion. thanks In short, i don't like the topic but i trust Steve and Co. PS i know that's not 2 points...
  9. I just need to say WOW! Great feedback and follow-through. I personally don't care for the new game a great deal, though i respect the effort and vision. But only a fool wouldn't see you guys are gems in the world of game company forums. Well done.
  10. Naval Signalmen with the Canadian Navy for 5 years, 89-94. Went to the Gulf twice for some shopping and shooting. I left a Leading Seamen.
  11. I second Jason's sentiments; CMBO can be easily skipped in favour of CMBB/CMAK. You truly won't regret buying these games; and as noted, the price for these titles is shamefully low. Bart
  12. i haven't played the demo at all. but none-the-less, i *demand* more cowbell before i will even d/l this thing.
  13. Hmmmm; i do not recall ever reading the gun on the Panther to be better: not in terms of traverse, penetration, reliability... anything! But i believe the late model panthers are believed to be the better tank once the problems were worked out due to it's sloping armor and greater reliability than the Tiger...
  14. some days it seems just a bit Darwinian around here...
  15. Lots of intelligent discussion and rebuttal but one reminder: you don't convine Nazi's of anything. They just ignore what they can't refute, repeat themselves endlessly, and nitpick the tiny inaccuracies they can find in your argument. Regretably i have family who had strong leanings that way, who served at least in the Wehrmacht, and quite possibly the SS (he won't be explicit enough for me to investigate); he was captured on the West Front though, as he never went to Siberia. Good old Canada let him in around 1950-51. At 78 he still hates Russians and Jews, and can't see any wrong with that. The problem for Nazi's and neo-Nazi's is they have too much invested to back away from their beliefs. So no matter how much proof was supplied they'll believe: -Barbarossa was a spoiler attack on a pending Soviet attack -German soldiers were uber -Concentration camps were the product of allied propaganda -etc etc ad nauseum So... when is that demo coming?
  16. hmmm; i am not old, and i think the graphics ar ejust fine. content content content.
  17. hmmmm; thanks for the answer. Not feeling particularily reassured mind you, but thanks!
  18. Gents Will ToW support WS gaming naturally or will we need to futz around? Nothing to find in the search, so am i the only one concerned? CM really didn't look so hot on a large WS, so i am hoping ToW was designed with WS in mind. thanks
  19. I don't know about ethical debate; some people are just squeamish about wasting lives pointlessly, even if it is pretend. I fall under that category; i won't play any of the major city battles anymore, because for either side it just feels like a giant meat grinder. the pointlessness of it is what gets me...
  20. those are rather modest specs on the Dell; good to see for the people with older rigs.
  21. SLI would be over kill if you have 6800's or 7800's; but some 6600's could probably use some company if just for the sheer WOW factor...
  22. LOL; i can confess for both BO and BB i took the next day off.
  23. 1) Campaign System 2) Map Contour for easier LOS dtermination 3) Improved Battle editor *4 & 5 reserved for future use
