  1. Scenario: Regular Platoon HQ, unsuppressed, sitting inside a house, spotting for 81mm linear barrage 600m away. There is no obstruction (dust, smoke, trees, etc.) to the target. My question/concern is that he is now on round 18 of spotting out of the scant 42 I was given. Would it truly take 18 rounds and the approximately 10 minutes (of spotting rounds, not waiting for availability)? I've never seen spotting this bad before, and I'm curious if anyone else has had an issue like this. If he isn't suppressed or his view obstructed, what is the reason I wonder? thanks.
  2. yeah vehicles in QBs against the ai are lacking, which is why I only play infantry vs infantry

  4. As others have said and done, when CMSF came out I was extremely disappointed and pretty much quit playing the CM games for about 2 years. I finally made myself reinstall and TRY to learn it and I loved it. It was far more demanding, and it exposed how many bad tactics CMx1 allowed me to get away with. the only real feature I miss from CMx1 is head to head campaigns, and I truly hope they come back with the next engine iteration. Managing your forces against a respected foe for a year or so was amazing.

  6. they are in one of the campaigns, A Moment in Time, battle 4. the put out an amazing volume of fire at good ranges, I was really impressed. I think if they were fighting as an organic company with a Heavy Platoon in support they would be devastating. as is in the scenario they are all mounted in HTs and those work as 4 MGs per platoon.
  7. I'm in the editor and I can't seem to find them anywhere. obviously they are there, can anyone tell me what formation they would be under? I want to use them in a QB as my close assault forces. thank you
  8. My experience is that you never put a covered arc while deploying in a building. I have had 100% success leaving no arc and deploying, then once deployed putting the cover arc in. I use a simple move>deploy>face order when getting my MGs set up. Covered arc in my opinion seems to delay/perhaps even break deploying an MG inside. YMMV
  9. I called in my typhoons in the 3rd mission as well; they both can on station, loitered, for a few minutes, and disappeared. apparently 700 yds is danger close... I hate the air force.
  10. Unless they've reversed course secretly, BFC has said in the past no nation or formation receives a morale or ability modifier. that is granted in the game editor under the quality and morale choices.
  11. In the briefing you're notified you'll receive off-board battalion mortars (81mm) in the first 10m or so. I received the notification that I received 81mm mortars but they never showed up in the available artillery pane (and yes I scrolled to the right). I would guess just a problem with the scenario that beta testers didn't catch, but I thought I would report it in. all other reinforcements arrived which I was notified of, but not those.
  12. One thing I agree with the author is about campaigns; far and away the memories that have stuck with me are all predominantly in H2H campaigns. Surprise at Paislini's for CMBB was an epic event for H2H, 7 missions in a row on a huge map trying to stop a German advance. I would love to be able to do those again.
  13. Side note to defend the 57mm; in the scenario M"y Honor is my Loyalty" my 57mm has knocked out 2 panthers from about 600-700m. I think a better map for defense combined with 4-5 57mm would have been very convincing.
  14. true; but they are philosphical questions as opposed to technical. i am just recalling some waffle-y comments about H2H campaigns and hoping they'll consider putting them back in.
  15. 1) Will we see something analogous to an ammo dump? or some mechanism for onboard mortars/guns to regain spent ammunition? 2) Will H2H campaigns be returning? thanks
  16. i think the changes they made were critical; any person who has played enough people while defending can testify that mg emplacements were worth diddly. I've frequently had MG-42 end a full hour of PBEM gameplay where they expended 500-600 rounds of self-directed fire and scored *no* kills. attackers now have to get real with their tactics.
  17. I am so glad someone brought this up; i first noticed this in the bridge of doom scenario of Courage and Fortitude Campaign. I thought it was me...
  18. 2.01 does dramatically change the game; i am trying the scottish corridor and mgs have at least doubled casualties. I also played a few qb's against the ai and saw the same thing.

  20. Didn't Steve say not long ago tht CMAK was the weakest selling game of the CMx1? makes one wonder if they want to spend all that time going into a theater which yields little interest or sales.
  21. years and years ago, someone (maybe Andreas?) linked a pdf to Star in it's entirety. after reading it i deleted it off of my hard drive and i still regret that to this day.

I just searched through the "Road Ahead" thread and couldn't find any comments, so i was wondering if anyone knew if H2H campaigns (for PBEM) would be returning with any of the new titles coming in 2013. CMBB came with amazing campaigns that took most of a year for my opponents and i to finish but we didn't mind. i can't recall if it was a limitation of the new engine or just a feature that hadn't made it in. thanks
  24. they might not abandon but they will get knocked out status, and still have 1K rounds on them.
