1. You still owe me a PBEM file that works the streets of Ortona...although you're still stuck on the outskirts GO WORK YOUR OWN SIDE OF THE STREET!
2. Family's been keeping me on the hop more than usual.
3. Aren't those backpacks actually demolition packs? Looks like the plunger-detonator unit, with the spooled cord on top...still ain't going to buy it
4. Yeah, and I had the bailed out pilot parachute in as a Crew once, too
5. It's gorgeous alright, but when are we going to get the winterised AK mods
6. hey - I see G'pa's PPSH, but where's the soup ladle
7. Yup - go over to The Proving Grounds for tips on how to do this.
8. Sorry, Mike, forgot to make it clear that I posted this in support of your view, in that some of those blinking little European houses are so tight that they can't even get furniture in and out of some of them, let alone a 6 pdr. But if you've got a small weapon mounted on wheels and towed by a fast tracked vehicle capable of going almost anywhere at relatively good speeds, why would you then winch that same weapon up to a second story, where it could be easily destroyed by enemy gun or shellfire, and be almost impossible to extricate while under that fire? If anyone has a photo of an ATG being emplaced like this, or reference to it being done, I'd be interested in seeing that. ATGs on second stories is a new one on me.
9. Maybe he's thinking of all those Dutch houses that have winches attached to the second floor because the doors and stairs are so narrow that you have to bring beds 'n' such in through the upstairs window.
10. I've played this (actually, the non-quick version) twice as Brits vs PBEM opponents. Both times the Germans had trouble moving from their start line, especially the reinforcements on the German right. I think I should give it a go a third time, but from the AK side.
11. I've had PF-toters loose them off at infantry they're assaulting in buildings. Took me a while to figure out where the "whooshing" sound was coming from when this first happened.
12. Give them more FOs, especially 25pdr...or more ammo for the ones you do give them. [ June 19, 2005, 10:47 AM: Message edited by: Brent Pollock ]
13. I still have one of my first boardgames, GRUNT, that came in a S & T issue. In that game, US squads can't move after taking a casualty until a Medic has made it over and taken control of him.
14. Not much feedback because Pz IIINs are wwaaayyyyy cuter if you want a turreted short 75
15. Sheesh...three pages...I wonder if this is how Dr. Frankenstein felt...
16. ...pour des gens francophones qui jouent CM: http://www.appui-feu.com//modules.php?name=Forums
17. Sheesh - who'd a thunk this thread would run for 2 pages...not I.
18. Well, no you have heard of it. The RPG is just a panzerfaust after liposuction and some photoshopping to lengthen its gams to make it look sexier [ June 16, 2005, 10:45 AM: Message edited by: Brent Pollock ]
19. Of course they're nowhere near the enemy - there's a blinkin' photographer there! They rarely went near the danger zones - mostly just propaganda shoots in a safe zone.

21. Here's the Axis Briefing from round 2 ["fortifications" led me to think there would be Wooden MG bunkers to contend with]: -------- Password : Poppy 1100 9 August 1941 Situation: We have broken through and the Soviets are on the run. Their initial attempts to stop our advance with scratch blocking forces failed, and today our forces have advanced several kilometers without opposition. However, scouts now report enemy infantry forces digging in to our front in the vicinity of a shallow creek that runs through a valley scattered with stands of pine trees. Mission: As the lead company of our column, you are to advance to contact and force your way across the stream, capturing the bridge to allow our forces to continue their rapid advance. Above all, you must smash the Soviet position - any delay to our general advance is not acceptable. Forces: You have your company of panzergrenadiers, supported by an understrength company of panzers and two of the regimental infantry guns. In addition, you have priority on the battalion mortars. Finally, you have been given a platoon of pioneers to assist you in your assault operation and deal with any fortifications and obstructions the Soviets might have placed. Opposition: Scouts report Soviet infantry, probably in company strength, dug in the vicinity of the bridge. We do not know what formation they belong to, so there is no information as to their quality. Chances are they are a composite unit made up of whatever could be scraped together, so just about anything could be over there. --------
22. 6) Carl, baby, your one sick puppy...I shudder every time a cannister round gets unleashed  8) CW formations should only get MGs if there has been time for the MG/ATG platoons to come up. Otherwise, nothing heavier than a Bren. 11) TRPs = huge fun 14) good idea 15) unfortunately, this can give away the guns position before it actually gets spotted, since trenches are so damned easy to spot. You know I'm fan of your random reinforcement concept - roll on.
23. ...and, damn you, Dorosh, for adding more books to my already overly long "must read" list.
