  1. Canadian Provinces of America, you oik Shall we refer to you as the Candian States of America from now on? </font>
  2. [engage annoying pedantic mode] Looks like it's time to point out that we Canadians are Americans, just like all the denizens of the Americas; North, Central & South. [end annoying pedantic mode]
  3. Yeah, some of my squads found this out the hard way when I did not notice they'd been shifted smack dab in the middle of the road...at pointblank range...in front of two Sherman platoons and a goodly chunk of an infantry company.
  4. Other than CMBB/CMAK and the IL-2 series...ASL...Worms...and absolutely anything my son wants to play with me.
  5. I don't know why your Matilda crew is so inept at overruns. I'd send you a CMBB Battle showing how Elefants in July '43 armed with nothing but smoke rounds (i.e. no AP nor HE, and they have no MGs at all) can crush 25 mm AA guns in (or out) of trenches, but you do not have an e-mail address associated with your profile. You can either set it up yourself in the editor, or send me an e-mail letting me know you want the file. I just tested it and got two dead guns, one in a trench, and one out of a trench. The Elefants can even run them over in reverse...and don't anyone go saying that CM modelled CO poisoning You can overrun the gun by a MG fire. You can't do it by tank itself. Here is an example file (CMBB PBEM, no password) http://www.kubinka.ru/gun-test1.txt http://www.kubinka.ru/gun-test2.txt note that units are out of ammo, and Matilda is not using its coax MG And by the way, I'm rather young, but drove a live Pz38(t) ant dealt with other WW2 stuff... </font>
  6. Horse Hockey. I've KOd so many guns this way in CMBO/CMBB/CMAK that I've lost count. Did it with test scenarios and in real games, both. It even works against a gun in a trench. I've no idea why it didn't work for you... No! It does not. And that was one of the main drawbacks for me. Run a test with a tank without ammo vs an AT Gun, you'll see. I can't attack with Matildas moving across italian 47-mm gun just to have the enemy in perfect condition behind them.</font>
  7. Nobody has to say anything about a ballerina being a woman...because they are all women by definition. If you wanted to specify the hairy guy, you should have typed "ballerino" rather than "ballerina". Go ahead, call me a ballet grog Who said anything about the ballerina being a woman? I was thinking burly guy with tatoos and ungodly amoung of body hair...[snip]</font>
  8. Probably kept crawling back into traps as a deathwish because all the other crustaceans made fun of it. I dunno, but a lobster fisherman around here pulled up a friend's trap and dressed a lobster in Barbie clothes, put it back in the trap, and then tossed the trap back in the water. The friend was quite puzzled, but instead of keeping it he put the dressed up lobster back in the water. It apparently was repeatedly caught and tossed back in, losing a little bit of clothing each time. Friggin' hysterical Steve </font>
  9. Amen - I'm hoping this makes it into the three+ player version. It'll be a gas...albeit, most likely poison gas...
  10. I'm not sure why his knickers would get twisted over this: I don't expect to be able to control my troops that are sufferring from a morale effect like Panick/Broken/Routed so I'd have no problem with a simplification that wounded means "severely" so, and they will, at best, start crawling back about like a broken unit. I do see that modelling how able-bodied guys trying to help them would be a tricky bit. I think that what might cause more of a design problem is direct targetting of the wounded and what effect this should have on morale. Think of ASLs "No Quarter" rule here and the effect it has on ELR Level loss/gain. Minimally, I would like them tracked so they can be killed as a bystander (for instance, they shouldn't get a free evac in the middle of a barrage or when surrounded in an open field) or captured. P.S. VG's AMBUSH series distinguished between KIA, INCAP & Lt WND (IIRC), and had rules for moving them about. They even gave you a jeep in one mission that was supposed to be used for EVAC.
  11. As the author of the progenitor "Our Backs to the Volga" AAR, all I can say is, "Go man, go!" ...oh...and JasonC's quite correct: you are utterly insane
  12. You presume those little green bast*rds don't wont up with any tech advancements in the meantime
  13. So, there you have it: Gpig is no longer an athlete Why this warrants a bow, I'm not sure
  14. Check some of the Battlefront posts: terrain FoW is on the "want to do in the future but certainly won't be in the first release" list.
  15. Now we have TWO uses for the melted butter
  16. Well, DUH, that's why it's called a Market Garden
  17. Not so much ahistorical as damned rare. The ahistorical element arises by people playing them so damned often because they want a "balanced" QB.
  18. ...or other passengers/riders...unless CMX2 remedies this?
  19. For those of us with poor hand eye co-ordination (hey, if I had good hand eye coordination, I'd stick permanently to the flight sims ), I'd like to request that the NEXT PHASE button, which appears at the bottom of the "cards in hand" screen, be kept well away from the REDRAW & EXTRA CARD buttons, so you don't have any mousing accidents  . Haven't had any problems yet, but it's only a matter of time...
  20. ummmm...you mean "Combat Mission", not "Battle Front", yes? Both CMBB & CMAK are up to version 1.03 now...forget what CMBO got to. As usual, go to their specific pages for the downloads. And check out the CMX2 discussion here for the next generation of CM. [ September 12, 2005, 12:05 PM: Message edited by: Brent Pollock ]
  21. I have yet to purchase this with experience points, but I think I just figured out the possible advantage it gives. Do you use it once your leader is low on energy, thereby gaining a fresh big hand for the former wingman once he takes the lead? And by "neutral", I take that to mean that it can only get used if your side is neither advantaged/disadvantaged? Or can you use it when advantaged, but you automatically lose advantage? Hmmm...something to try next game...
  22. No, it's hard to get more bunched up than a testudo, so this should be easy for the game engine
  23. ...and it trips off the tongue more easily than "directfire-arrhea".
  24. ...and you can't disable enemy vehicles by ramming, but you can push them...even into "prohibited terrain"; in one game, my StuG IIIb ran into a BA-6 and pushed it into some rubble, wherein it got stuck.
