  1. Whilst we're all twiddling our thumbs, how about some post-mortem/AAR stuff on the other battles. I am especially interested in how folks executed a successful German defense of that wee hill. I performed an excellent clinic on how NOT to do it. Frankly, I was expecting a small infantry force backed by T-34s - WHOOPS! So, splitting my infantry onto either wing and trying to move UP turned out not to be such a bright idea, as they got pinned and swarmed by Conscripts that wouldn't say "uncle". My ATGs didn't too overly much (I think I over-keyholed them...T-26s can be taken head on and long range), and the one good idea I had was to make certain that no one, and I mean no one, was set up in the trees on the hill. Everyone went into the craters. Made a huge difference in keeping my HMGs thumping away until they were overrun by T-26s. Gadzooks, I suck at defending...and my opponent hit me with exactly the right attack to completely screw up my so-called defense. How's'bout all-y'all? 2. Ditto - as long as we have signs of life, let them finish...it's not as if we're chomping at the bit, waiting to start the next round.
  3. How 'bout getting a one or two subs to jump in and finish it pronto?
  4. For what it's worth to this debate, the designers of Avalon Hill's mega-boardgame "The Longest Day" went with a FB mechanic that caused no damage, but inflicted a higher movement cost. Here's the design note : ----- Contrary to popular belief, the fighter bombers were so successful at interdicting German reinforcements and supplies because they were capable of interrupting movement and disorganizing the road marches of units. They really did not destroy a great deal of equipment and men (Reference #129 is particularly enlightening in this respect.) That is one reason why fighter bombers do not have attack strengths like the tactical bombers. ---------- Ref#129 is an US Army historical document: A-903 Panzer Lehr Division (15-20 Jul 1944) . By Genleut. F. Bayerlein. 16 pp. Operations in Normandy. I only just realised that there is no provision for AA to moderate this effect...I smell an Optional Rule in the making
  5. [okay, let's try this..nope..how 'bout this...nope...how 'bout...no, tried that already...hmmmm]
  6. I do love foggy battlefields...sure cuts into the long range Borg spotting.
  7. Ummmm...no...some of us have already figured it out ages back and don't want to have to fiddle with a scenario that has it as its focal point. Maybe on the weekend, I'll have another go at KOing that blinkin' 88 mm PaK...now that is a useful skill to learn.
  8. [Possible cheat spoiler] I'm guessing he was more adept than I at trying to cheat by having one of the HQs run back and forth on the ridge to draw fire from the PaK? Only works if there's no Cover Armor arc, of course.
  9. ...whichever one has the short 75 mm IG in it, which, IIRC, is the only German canister chucker. If an AFV has that piece, it gets to spew canister.
  10. Well, I'm still having oodles of fun playing CMBB (e.g. the Luga Breakthrough tourny) and CMAK, so I'm really in no particular rush for CMX2.
  11. Sorry, I thought "CCing" turn files to you would be enough...but it'd only work if you have time to view them, obviously, soours should read: Brent Pollock------> Andrew Kulin---> 18
  12. I wouldn't want to be wearing that outfit for hand-to-hand comabt - seems like it would slow you down too much.
  13. That minor crater is going to look a tad odd for in-game craters, but it's perfect for pre-game ones. The original crater mod for distinguishing major from minor craters is still number one on my "most-useful" list, followed by all the "AFVs with air-recognition markings".
  14. PFPHHTTTTTTTTTT! I've been playing CM3 for months now; you guys are SOOOOOOOOOO behind
