  1. Perhaps more information about the scenario itself could be recorded and displayed, and searchable. Examples would be: -what are the dimensions of the map? -what is the approx. size & composition of the Axis/Allied units (i.e., company sized paratroops) -what is the predominant terrain of the map? -what is the highlight of the map (ex.: airfield, hill, church) (the above information may have to be "tactfully" added so as to not give away any "spoilers" for some scenarios) And as suggested from GSTomEGun on my site: -what play testing has been done on the scenario? Is it "raw" or has it been a continuous work in progress that is just now ready for public consumption? These among others to give those searching for a scenario as much information as possible about the scenario (and searchable!) without giving away the "plot".
  2. You can try cyberboard, which is free. They have converted 100's of old hex & cardboard games to electronic format. You might find a game that has the units that you want and then import your map. I haven't played with the utility enough to know how hard that would be to do, but it should be something to look into.
  3. Wouldn't a fold in the road affect visibility and not exposure? Looks like the visibility is there.
  4. Heya AC, You can post a profile at The Proving Grounds and also search the 800+ members profiles there for an opponent and then contact them via the site. Join us in the playtesting arena as well if you like, downloading and playing any of the scenarios posted at the site and then writing a brief comment on how you felt the gameplay was (fun factor, balance, etc). Link in my sig below. Hope to see you there! P.S. It's not for ladder play, just more of an "opponents wanted" listing.
  5. When I try to download this scenario, i get a webpage of code rather than the scenario file. I've written to the author to ask for an emailed copy, but I find the same problem with about half of all Proving Grounds scenarios. The others come through fine. I'm not sure if others have the same problem. It might be worth looking into. Thanks. </font>
  6. FWIW, my cd would just spin and eventually lock up the computer when I tried to install using my normal 52x CD-ROM. Tried copying it, etc. Finally stuck it in what was my CD-RW at the time (since upgraded to DVD-RW) and it installed fine. Burned a backup copy for safekeeping. IIRC, CMBB had a series of bad presses - perhaps CMAK has as well. I know of a couple of people that had problems running the cd.

  8. Shouldn't the title of this thread actually be: Shuddup about CMx2 and lookie as I worship the ground that Grog Dorosh walks on! Here bud, have a beer...
  9. Where have you been Henk? You were one of our regular "regulars" at The Proving Grounds. Mike's scenario is there if he hasn't sent it to you already, it's near the top of the "What's New" list for CMAK. Hope all is well with you! GJK
  10. I'm with dameluck on this, I want PRIZES $$$ !!!
  11. I had a fun time playing, review and notes left at TPG. Balance may be a bit off, give the computer a bonus if you play as Allies per Mike's recommendation.
  12. It's on my "to play" list. I have 8 pbem tests going now, as soon as one of those wraps, I'll get on it! Others from the site will no doubt give it a try as well, sometimes it takes a little bit, author's have been posting scenarios a lot faster than us testers can play them, but we'll get to it!
  13. You could post it to the maps section of The Proving Grounds if you like, would love to host it for you. Link in sig below.
  14. The Proving Grounds (link below) is the place for you. Sign-up, post it, and I'm sure it'll get its run. A discussion area will automatically be set up for it, so that us playtesters can discuss it with you after we've tried it. Hope to see you there!
  15. Yeh, but not everyone has a login at the mod depot! </font>
  16. Hopefully you'll check back... For CMBO, I highly recommend Magua's Normandy mod. Can't say enough good about it. You can download it and other mods for CMBO HERE Note: This are "CMMOS'd" mods, however you don't have to use CMMOS if you don't want to. Just manually extract and then rename the bmp files by removing any extra lettering after the bmp number.
  17. Hi Mike, just seeing your post here. This is the first time that I've heard of an issue with downloading the files. I've coded it so that spaces and even non-standard characters wouldn't be a problem. I've tested it in IE and Opera on the PC and IE on the Mac and am about to test Mozilla as soon as it boots. The spaces would have no effect as they are compensated with the %20 hex value. Maybe this is a Netscape only issue? I don't have Netscape loaded on any of my computers, but could install it to test, or perhaps I'll just ask others on the site who may be using Netscape to let me know if they've had any problems when downloading. Ok, just tested this in Netscape 7 on the Mac, and when I clicked to download, the raw scenario data showed. This is most likely a file association with the browser, but the easy fix was to option-click and then do a "Save file as". It came down fine then. Does the link just not work, or are you seeing the raw scenario text as I did above?
  18. I may be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that McMMM doesn't handle .bat files. The .bat file is just a DOS instruction that is most likely just renaming files and then placing them in the mods directory. You can open the .bat file in notepad or another text editor to see exactly what it's doing. If the mod in question has 3 sets of bmps, perhaps named slightly differently, the way to use McMMM with them would be to extract the mod manually, and then make sub-folders and then place each alternately named bmp in those sub-folders. Then rename those bmps so that they are named the same as the original bmps that came with the game. Then rezip the whole thing up. McMMM will then see the sub-directories and give you the option of which version of the mod to install. Example: say once unzipped, "mod" looks like this: 100.bmp 100a.bmp 100b.bmp 101.bmp 101a.bmp 101b.bmp etc. Make 2 extra sub-directories, called whatever, say versiona and versionb. Then, copy all the "a" named bmps to the versiona sub-dir and all the "b" to the versionb sub-dir. Then within each sub-dir, remove the "a" and "b" respectively from each file. McMMM will then be able to handle the mod properly.
  19. http://www.the-proving-grounds.com is much easier to spell (it goes to the same place). I'm playing Barkmann's now in a pbem and will confirm that PC (aka Mad Russian) did an excellent job of recreating the Normandy look and feel in this one, including a true bocage atmosphere!
  20. FYI, I've posted all of Michael Dorosh's ASL conversion mods for CMBB to CMMODS (with his permission). Look under the CMBB mods and under author GJK. These are for CMBB only.
  21. Sending you a copy of the latest release now, enjoy!
  22. Was there a shortage of parts for the Grant, was it unrealiable in any way, was there other inherit problems with it? I haven't researched the Grant at all before, but what I'm finding in the scenarios that I've played with them they are heads above the Sherman. In fact, I did a recreation of A/H's Tobruk scenario 1, with 9 Grants vs 17 Pz-IIIj's, 2 Pz-IIIh's and 2 PzIV-e's and the Grants just tore through all of those.
