Oh I am well aware that many Russians believe that NATO is expansionist and planning to attack them. But that feeling of persecution does not make it true. NATO did not and does not pursue an expansionist posture. The fact that countries in eastern Europe who used to be under the thumb of the USSR continue to feel threatened by the Russian government is not NATO's doing it is the Russian government's. The further fact that the Russian government has been using State controlled media to tell the Russian people that NATO and the west is some how against them is also a big propaganda campaign.
Just because someone fears something does not inherently mean it is dangerous. If the Russian government were to act responsibly and fairly in dealings with its neighbours those neighbours would not fear them and there wold be no need to join a defensive alliance like NATO. In fact if we ever get there we would no longer need NATO.

gawd dude  it isn't NATO sending little green men into other countries  wake up and smell the vodka. 🤢  Russian aggression will draw a response.  You know the old doctor story, "it hurts when I lift me arm - well don't lift your arm" can be applied here.  If Russia wants other countries to not feel threatened it should stop threatening.  A lot of folks want to do business with Russia.  The country has a lot of resources etc.  That they can't is a direct result of Russia's own actions.
and you clearly don't understand the balance of power.  NATO doesn't have to send a single trooper east.  Just cut Russia off from Swift and wait for the collapse.  Wave your anti shipping missiles all you want, there aren't any ships coming....
Any way this has gotten way off topic and frankly silly.  The question posted had to do with optics equipment etc, not the geo political balance.  I blame myself partly for the diversion so maybe we just go back to answering the OP.  Though I am still trying to find that article on Siberia.  The demographics issues Russia faces and the situation in Siberia is frankly far more important for Russia than the fate of Crimea.

That "agreement" is a perpetuating myth.  Gorbachev himself denies there was actually any agreement, yet that doesn't stop it coming up about NATO encroachment. Big brass bells or not.
As to the US spending money to upgrade Ukrainian ports - let me get this straight, the validation as to the value of these ports is based on the reaction of Russia seizing the Crimea illegally.... isn't that a circular argument? If Russian had not seized the Crimea do you think the US would be spending this money or dispatching units into Poland etc?
As to NATO membership - The UN charter determines that nations have the right to decide their own agreements.  If Eastern European nations feel threatened by Russian aggression and seek to form protective alliances whose fault is that?  Man you guys really bend over backwards trying to find validation for Russia's aggression by pointing at other nations reactions to protect themselves.  I should be used to that on this forum, but it still befuddles me.  I am perfectly happy to argue about the mistakes my country makes strategically and politically (of which there are many to be sure), but the stone wall of defense of mother Russia never being able to be wrong, produce bogus super military hardware that is all about sound bites but is still defended as something that will kill NATO yadayadayada….  Do you guys listen to yourselves and wonder about your objectivity?  Guess not.

err dominance of the black sea... an enclosed body of water with only one narrow exit?  Yeah that is worth undermining your entire global relationships.  So now the powerful black sea fleet ( )can sortie out into the..... yeah umm....Now if they had also been able to seize the Bosporus that would have been something!   Crimea is a sinkhole for money.  Look at how much investment Russia is having to dump into it with this bridge, electrical grid, water supplies.  Now tell me again just how cheap it is and the great strategic value of a region that can be severed from support by blowing one bridge.  I understand Ukraine and the international community reacting to it as an unlawful seizure but if I were Ukrainian I'd be secretly glad they took it.  Ukraine doesn't have to maintain it and Russia is having to invest a lot more than they likely planned.

When someone posted the Scottish Corridor campaign save file (in one of the CMBN threads) for examples of forward rush occuring I continued playing through the campaign with 4.02 and in almost all the battles the behaviour continued to obviously appear. Esp with enemy (German AI) coming forward through hedgrow gaps to be mowed down.  I figure motivation is set very high as otherwise enemy remain in place to last man and need persistant winkling out apart from when they appear spooked / provoked minimally with just gun fire near them as a trigger to their dash of doom.
Surprised to hear here that the aberrant and stubborn bug is thought done & dusted.

You can pick your Italians at an incorrect date, save them along with your Germans as a core file in the same way you would for a campaign and then import it into a scenario set to the correct date.

Moving troops through certain constrictions i.e.doorways wall gaps, hedge gaps, bridge ways in CM has to be done with a certain finesse like pouring beer from a bottle - don't pour too quickly and overwhem the glass or you'll find there can be messy frothy spillage...

Okay - show us the coding you can do to to implement necessary use of motorcycles on front line - including reversing 😉 animations showing pixeltroopen putting the bike on its centre stand when parking up, shooting on the move and importantly jumping over barb wire fences.  Again if you want to mimic motorcycle reccie riders get a nominated driver & pile em up in a jeep or Kubel - park up behind behind a house or trees when approaching suspected enemy locations, disembark and walk a bit further to watch & wait rinse & repeat....

Expect confusion in WW2 night battles
This extract is from the Bruneval Night Raid on a moonlit night at 2am..
"British parachutists were in the area but they had no idea how many, where they were or what they were trying to do. They heard firing from the cliff top, and then the sound of battle coming up from the beach about five hundred yards away. But they had received no clear orders as to what they should do. So the sergeant sent out small patrols to reconnoitre and bring back information as to what was going on. It so happened that one of the patrols went south in the direction of Charteris and his men, who were advancing towards them.
Moving quickly through the woods on either side of the steep little valleys it was dark and confusing, and the German patrol became split. One man separated from the rest saw the familiar sight of soldiers moving through the woods and fell in behind them, trailing them for some minutes. It's not clear who spotted whom first, but the British Paras realised that the man at the rear of their squad was not one of their own when he suddenly called out to them in German. At pretty much the same time the German realised his dreadful mistake and screamed out. Charteris, near the rear of the group, turned and pulled out his revolver to shoot the man at about five yards, almost point blank. But in the flurry and speed of the incident he forgot to release one of the safety catches of his pistol and the weapon did not fire. The terrified German soldier fired his rifle but was too distraught to take proper aim and missed.
Sergeant Gibbon, who was at the front of the group with his Sten gun, span around in a flash. Private Tom Hill, at the rear next to the man with whom he had been advancing through the woods, was amazed to find he was a German. He saw the sergeant move and threw himself to the ground. Gibbon fired his Sten gun over Hill at the German, who dropped instantly."

For a guy sitting sidelined for a serious medical issue you are getting far too worked up.  We'd like you to be around a bit longer so please try to mellow down a bit.  If you don't we'll have to speak to the nursing staff about cutting off your wifi privileges.

I can't speak about every company out there but I've been doing software testing both professionally and for hobbies like CM for decades. Yes, decades. Have yet to see any of said companies set up a place for the end user to upload files. The onus has always been that the user does so. And surprisingly, it works very well indeed from small businesses to companies with thousands of employees working for them, as I've had experience from one extreme to the other. I'm sure there are those out there that do it differently and it works for them. Good for them.
    Good grief.

The onus is on the customer because the customer is reporting WHAT THEY PERCEIVE to be a bug.  Sure BF could open an account and allow anyone in the world to post files to it, but I think you can guess how that would work if you'd take a moment to think about it... mayhem.  Lots of files, no standard naming, no idea what they are in reference to etc.  The real alternative would be to post to a ticketing system...which they do have and it is reserved for the beta testers as we actually comply with what the standards that BF sets versus whatever standard forumite X wants to use.
That you can't bothered to have a free account to post a file and send a link makes it very clear about the amount of effort you are willing to commit to the process.  If you can't be bothered to do that why would anyone think you'd put anymore effort into a different solution? And I am pretty certain you actually can post a save to the forum.  I know I have done it.  So what are you going on about again?
As to your opinion about what BF needs to do for QA and beta testers etc, you are certainly entitled to an opinion, but unless that is backed with a willingness to pay more for the game so BF could consider additional staff…… well it is highly unlikely that it is going to happen.

Part of my job is to do with archive footage. In anticipation of the commemoration of D-Day I rediscovered Hollywood director George Steven's colour home movies of his war. He volunteered at 37 and was put in charge of a combat film unit, filming of course in B/W but he took his 16mm camera along and had access to rare stocks of colour film. These home movies were only discovered by his son in storage after his death.
It's an eye-opener, and useful for modelling and gaming.
