In the real world if you're not careful going over a stone wall you may find yourself hung up on the wall with both tracks off the ground, or maybe even with a thrown track. For wire fences the last thing you'd want is for a quarter mile of barbed wire and wooden stake to be wrapped around your drive sprocket. Tanks can be rather fragile if you don't take care.
In the game its advisable to follow 'best practices' as though it was the real world regardless of what the game engine is coded for.

Still plenty of concrete pillbox bunkers around - where I grew up in S.E England there was one by a river in town I played in as a kid and many others dotted around along roads, junctions & along the coast.

Oh, shove it. If someone sees that the topic is about suppression from small arms, that's the discussion they should see when they open the topic - not a bunch of grumblings about health insurance and car repairs.

At some point 'fog of war' is going to kick in. You the commander can't be expected to know every single microterrain detail of the ground you'll be fighting over. You reconnoiter,  make note of favorable positions and plan accordingly. Something that may be difficult if you play the game at camera level 3 or 4 all the time. If this is designed to be a realistic tactical sim the fewer 'crutches' the better. If something seems difficult perhaps its because... its difficult!

    Minute 0:48-0:47:
First shot seems to hit the bunker on the plateau near KT5. That is good news but it is the last...

The tank is hit and destroyed.

A few moments later someone spots why. Yikes. I wish my men had seen that before it fired.

Meanwhile the barrage I feared was aimed at KT3 or my men in the woods along the hill turns out to be aimed at the treeline in front of them. My guess is the enemy is trying to block my advance.

Meanwhile the barrage falling on A Co in the woods near the village continues, as do the casualties.

    Minute 0:47: Orders
First things first what can I use to fire on that newly spotted AT gun. It turns out the scout team near the tank has a 2in mortar. It's not much but lets get them firing.

Now that we know the men of B Co are not under the barrage I send them back into the woods. They will position themselves in defilade again. Here is a shot of the orders for the FO to get back to KT3.

Some of 2nd platoon A Co are able to take orders – get out of the barrage.

I am hoping you are joking but I fear not. Russia today is a state owned propaganda machine. Fox and CNN are clearly not (hint do they both tow the Trump White House line - yeah I didn't think so).
I wonder - are you wilfully misleading us? The very article you quote:
Clearly sending arms to a place as chaotic as Syria is not a safe way to act. You will not hear me defending supplying arms to groups that are not clearly friends of the people of Syria but that is a far cry from supporting ISIS. So ISIS got some weapons by capturing them in Iraq and Syria and those weapons got to Syria via clandestine means - the US at least was trying to supply anti regime forces not ISIS directly. I have no idea what the hell the Saudis were doing because they frequently appear to act against their own interests so who knows about them. Even the Saudis did declare they were not supplying ISIS - but I question if the groups they were supplying were actually any better than ISIS.
None of this is the US selling arms to ISIS. None of this Ukraine selling arms to ISIS. So, yeah it sounds more like Russian Today total BS that you are falling for without even thinking for just a few moments.
What it is though is the exposing of the folly of thinking that supplying arms to anti Syrian regime forces when it was way to late for those forces to actually be effective against ISIS or Assad.

Is this Russia Today info? Ok, then I believe this is 146% of true! I say more - ISIS used Ukranian BTR-4 in Iraq, so Ukraine supplied ISIS, this is obviously!

It's a tradeoff. Full trees are prettier but sometimes obscure the view of the things one is interested in; result: confusion.

Playing Russians in CMRT teaches you how to wield larger forces. Because Russian SMG units carry the PPSh smg which fires a horrendous thousand rounds per minute. That means they're 'one-use wonders'. The unit accomplishes one task and run themselves out of ammo in the process, then you're obliged to use follow-on forces to pick up where they left off. No trying to make it from one end of the map to the other using a single platoon like we do with American forces.

There was a lot more going on with SF's release than "unachievable expectations". Lets be honest. SF was easily 8 months early. Paradox walked away without a scratch though, didn't they? BF learned a painful lesson and worked their asses off to rectify it and have more than made up for it in the 12 years since. They may suck sometimes with communicating and stuff can be beyond long in coming at points but I've never doubted them once after watching them brunt the storm and wrestle SF into shape.
I can get irritated with the silence sometimes but I think Elvis has been doing a good job keeping people up to speed these past few months. People are forgetting that. Communications have actually gotten better.

Most of those guys are full of sh*t. They get mad when someone calls them out for acting like dicks. And that's exactly how a lot of them act. It has nothing to do with criticism and everything to do with attitude. I get so sick of hearing about the poor martyrs that are forced to post on other boards because this one is just so unwelcoming. Most of them just want a place they can bash the game without any repercussion or blow back. Some of them have even been banned from here because they can't function like normal humans. I think this forum is pretty dang friendly. And I like it here a 1000 times more than when I first joined.
Yeah, I know that you don't completely share their views but I am just pointing it out. And again, sburke wasn't talking to you. He was talking about the other guy so that's a bad example.

In 2007 the BBC’s Mark Urban was “embedded” with a platoon of soldiers in one of Baghdad’s most violent areas.
Ten years later he tracked down four of the men from the unit.
What effect did the war have on them?
