  1. edit cuz I is stupid! [ August 29, 2002, 11:56 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]
  2. It was Trotter's original review in that mag that woke me up to the greatist wargame ever.
  3. They called us fanatics! Well. . .maybe we are.
  4. Almost all smoke from fire is thick. Smoke is basicly half of what the fuel is converted to when it burns (the other half is the soild byproducts like melted metal or ash). By fuel, I am referring the substance that is burning of course, not petrol. Fire is basicly the rapid oxidation of a substance (like rust for example, but much faster). So what is happening is the fuel is being converted into another form as it burns. So to put it in perspective, think of all the molecules in a piece of wood being spred out insted of packed together. You get a pretty thick cloud. Unless there are pretty high winds, or the fire is very small (like a camp fire), you will normally get thick smoke in any kind of fire. The only other exceptions are fuels that burn invisable (which are a major hazard to firefighters as they have walked into unseeable walls of flame in these situations). But this is normally only in certain chemical factories, and dosen't really have any place in CM.
  5. Ah, ha!! What looked like a minor to medium loss for my troops (Axis) looks like it will turn into minor to medium loss for my opponent!! And all this in the last four turns of the game! The tables have turned as they say. Hooray for the krauts! One of my crews desirves an iron cross for their work in this battle!!
  6. Good 'ole Miller Genuine Draft. Those, and the Shmirnoff Ice's are hella good as well! Puts me in ah fight'n Russian kind of mood.
  7. Double post. Must be saused already!! [ August 27, 2002, 11:34 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]
  8. The forum staff don't like jokes like this. You're likely to get a foot chewed off for that subject header. I can hear Matt's keys clanging in the distance. HI MOM!
  9. I'm thinking they are gonna suprise us with a friday release, so they can have their weekend off. The game has to be final by now and in reproduction at this point. I'm sure they want a break from it.
  10. Zitadelle, I never played Shogun, but this demo is awesome!! I am putting this one on my "must have" list along with CMBB!! I think anyone that enjoys CM (and military operations outside of just WWII) would love this one!! How does the empire management work? Does it play fairly well? I don't like the typical RTS' out there, but I always enjoyed the emprie management and RTS battles in Lords of the Realm II. Does the empire side of things work much like that game's did? You know, stone quarrys, population moral, military salarys to upkeep, revolts, trading with partners, assigning unit types to the blacksmiths (none of that AoE crap where it takes 40 food and 25 wood to create an archer; where you never have to feed or pay or re-equip his quiver ever again ) Details my man, details?
  11. You want to download a big demo? Try Medieval: Total War. I'm doing it right now. It's taking me about 45 mins on a broadband connection. 235MBs!!!!!!!
  12. I'd finish Head for the Hills with you TB. How bout a 3 min timer, and we do it in tcp/ip? I only had like seven turns left on that one. Remind SupTed that he owes me a rematch for the slaughter he handed me on our first and only match once CMBB releases! 13. Cpt T and myself are almost done with Another Day! Now, where the freak are you Mikeydz?!!! Are we ever gonna finish Head for the Hills, or are you just giving up? Lets get back in the mix and finish this up mon!!
  14. Laxx, Chance Encounter is a tough one, even for experienced players. Almost everthing you get for the krauts is green. I try to cluster all my troops together (minus one toon that rides with the STuGs) with some space between (to avoid mass routs due to incoming Sherman fire) and head for the large cluster of trees directly ahead. I send the STuGs with their support toon together around on a left flank to try to catch the Sherms one at a time as they emerge from that cluster of trees they like to hug. Give it a try if you would like.
  15. Ed, When can I move into one of those? Oh, wait, those are CMBO mods aren't they? I thought you were previewing houses you wanted to sell! Seirously though, they look great. I know you modders are gonna attack CMBB when it hits our HDs, but I hope CMBO dosen't get forgotten.
  16. I ordered a pre-order last week, but never got pre-confirmation that my order to pre-order would be confirmed. DjB</font>
  17. We're in the single-diget-coundown-zone now until our first taste on CMBB! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. HAL 9000 systems and above. I'm wondering how much slowdown is going to be on the big maps this time. With CMBB's much larger map capability, I hope there isn't as much of the turn calc slowdown as there was with CMBO. I've got a pretty robust system, and CMBO's larger maps still slowdown when they get too large; or there are a lot of units to calc for (especially armor).
  19. I've had games where my [bleep] tank crews miss every shot while the enemy crews hit on every first shot and get a kill to boot!! It's normally whan I play with Shermans vs any German armor with a moderatly quick turret (Mk IVs, Panthers, Pumas, ect. . .)
  20. I sometimes experience the same feeling. If I am playing a fairly serious PBEM game and I make a costly mistake, I can get a little upset about it. The feeling is mostly self-reproch for playing badly, but there is also some reflection on the death and destruction I have caused my men. CM does a pretty good job of "immersion" on the battlefield, and with just a little imagination, you can easily sympathize with your men. As a result, I try to take the best care of my digital soldiers that I can, and I pride myself on keeping casualties as low as possible. Sometimes even when I lose a scenario, I feel that I played well if I was able to inflict significantly many more casualties on my opponent than I lost.</font>
