The other issue is that the Japs had limited objectives - to create a SE Asia Prosperity Zone - kinda what the Chinese are trying to do now - not so much world domination which was the Nazi's wet dream. The Japs knew they could never win a protracted war in the first place. So, Midway sped up their troubles, and marked a turning point. But, that's not the same as "decisive" - defined as "before the battle you are winning the war, and afterwards, you are losing it". So, Moscow 41 would get my #1 vote. BOB, Stalingrad and Midway were very important, but largely huge morale and materiale disasters for the Axis on their way to defeat. Atlantic battle (as was BOB) was more of a victory for the Brits in terms of surviving and thus helping end the war in the west as Britain became the US "aircraft carrier".

CMBN 1.10 Load Time Varies Directly with Number of Mods?
Erwin replied to Sabot6's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
My game has 3.44GB of mod files in my Z. I'll try and do timings tomorrow if anyone really cares. But, I reckon it's got a lot to do with one's system. -
I didn't think you could do it, but these are a BIG improvement. Love the evil downward turn at the corners of the mouth and the hidden eyes of death. Thank you Mord... It just shows what incessant and irritating nagging can accomplish.

Marco Bergman armour/penetration mod for CW
Erwin replied to ~Viajero's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Yeah, but I know how much you enjoy telling us here. And basically I already unzipped and put into my Z folder discarding the unwanted files. So, now I have to d/l again and find the file you refer to. -
Yeah, I saw that and reposted on the modder's forum. He hates me now. Be warned...

plz don't blame the messenger...

It's a really nice break to now have a variety of AC's to play with. I hope scenario designers do more with AC recon clashes - maybe a campaign... IIRC the Brit recon guys wore thick leather coats as extra protection against splinters/spalding. Any chance of a uniform mod for those guys?

Marco Bergman armour/penetration mod for CW
Erwin replied to ~Viajero's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Yea, I noticed the readme refers to files that were in CMBN base mod, but are not present in the new CW mod version. I assumed they are not required to be upgraded and Marco simply didn't rewrite the readme. Is that correct or are there files missing? -
CMBN 1.10 Load Time Varies Directly with Number of Mods?
Erwin replied to Sabot6's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
I have 251 mod folders and a bunch more mod files not in folders. The loading time varies mostly on the scenario size. I'd say a minute for the small scenarios and 2-3 minutes to large scenarios. -
That is weird re the BMP's. Any ideas why a narrower vehicle would be such a biatch about narrow roads?

UI icon modders FYI: "there is a tiny anachronism in the British rank insignia, Specifically, the crown used for majors and lieutenant colonels who appear in large scenarios is the Crown of St. Edward, which, however, Queen Elizabeth II only adopted when she ascended the throne in 1953. From 1902 until then, the Tudor (or King's) Crown was generally used as the royal crown on post boxes, mail trucks, buildings, and elsewhere, including the rank insignia for officers of the British and other Commonwealth Armies."

Got it just now. Thank you! -
STOP! Find the tech support link that tells you in detail how and in which order to install everything.

Good analysis. Russia has the oil (and the high prices have made the oligarchs rich). China doesn't and their expansion is dependent and desperate for oil, their car culture is just starting. Hence their aggressive expansion aims into the S China Sea and beyond... all the way to the Malacca Straits and some dubious claims elsewhere. That area could be where the first clashes with Indian and/or US naval forces occur... if they ever do. Perhaps the only really good decision Bush admin did was to share nuke tech with India - I suspect hoping to have India and China have at it while we sit back and watch the show.

Plz don't be hatin', but how about a dueling scar (maybe at least for the officers)?

It's tricky, but I hope you can simulate the faded worn look of the re-enactor's camo. The problem with a lot of uniform and helmet mods, is that they are so colorful that they would make the wearer stand out. Also, looking thru the historic shots of the loading screen, it's hard to see any insignia or patches of any kind on uniforms or helmets - understandably so. I suspect the mods are overloading the uniforms/helmets with colorful patches etc just to look cool, but in RL, you'd be hard-pressed to see anything.

CMBN 1.10 Load Time Varies Directly with Number of Mods?
Erwin replied to Sabot6's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
1.10 did allow the system to utilize up to 4GB Ram instead of the previous 3(?). So, that helps. If the problem is bad, it may just be nature's way of saying it's time to get more powerful computers.
