  1. Also, in the old WW2 pics of SS, I don't see any helmet insignia on the camo. Was it just on the metal, and/or only for ceremonial purposes?
  2. Please mention in your briefings that the player has TRP(s). I am halfway thru a game and only just noticed the tiny red icon. Also, please mention if the scenario was tested primarily WEGO or RT (or both) just so we know what to expect. Thanks...
  3. A bit too bright and clean to use as RL camo. Suggest fading it to make it look worn and used.
  4. all much appreciated. I note that the helmet with Heer synbol is labelled something like "luftwaffe-cammo-helmet-5". What should the helmets be labeled so that the Heer and Luftwaffe ones go on the correct troops?
  5. JonS: No, I didn't mean that designers should have to make multiple versions. Just that if designers made it clear as they do (usually these days) re AI or H2H intentions, and if message posters also made it clear at what skill level they played and if it was RT or WEGO, it could avoid some confusion. For example re whether the scenario was too long or too short. It makes a big difference if someone is playing IRON vs VETERAN. Also, if a scenario is designed for RT, I would expect it to be harder to win in the time limit vs WEGO (and vice versa). It doesn't mean people wouldn't play a RT game as WEGO, but it would help cut down complaints that it was hard to win in the given time.
  6. My only reservation for your gorgeous mods is that as soon as Aris has his dirtied up (or someone dirties yours up even more) those will be the ones most everyone will be using.
  7. I like 4. What I really want tho', is to for you to make the SS HQ icon guy have more of a fanatic glint in his eyes.
  8. If you're not sure why CM1 is more of a game than a sim, suggest you go back and read some of the large number of posts on this (by others) over the last years. However, given your impressive professional BG, it would be much appreciated to read your analysis as to why CM2 is more of a game than CM1 and less of a sim.
  9. "The Iman replaced another Russian ship "which had been sent to Syria for... possible evaluation of Russian citizens," the Black Sea Fleet told Interfax." Those Russians are tough. They "evaluate" citizens while we evacuate lol.
  10. As a mod I completely agree. Thought you meant make it the default.
  11. I take your point when playing H2H. I think many of us prefer vs the AI and WEGO. So, I guess we all should make that disclosure as to HOW and at WHAT LEVEL we play the game when we post, otherwise, yes we may well be talking at cross-purposes.
  12. Re visuals, it largely depends on video card settings etc. It took me a while to get the best looking balance.
  13. I'd prefer numbers for now as again, it takes longer to mentally process the lines than to read a number. My only beef is that the effect of the quality are so much more subtle than in CM1, I rarely if ever notice any actual difference in performance - I guess I do not run my guys to exhaustion much. Also, when we had the bug which caused dead HQ's to not regenerate in subsequent campaign missions, I got used to handling leaderless squads without much problem. (I think that bug has been fixed.) Anyhow, that's not a graphics problem... Another tiny icon I find hard to interpret is the color of the circular "quality of C2" indicator that appears on each arty icon when one selects the arty tab. I don't think that one can improve or degrade that C2(?). I know green and larger is better. But, I have no idea what the colors mean in terms of minutes to FFE or anything definitive. The time to FFE is all that's important and that is given in the window when you click on an arty icon.
  14. Well, CM2 is a lot harder to play as it has pretentions to being a training sim (or at least a lot of milpros thought the CM2 system as implemented in CMSF was heading that way). CMSF was more complex than CM1 and CMBN seems even harder. When I want to just relax and have fun, I join the many people who still prefer CM1 as a fun entertainment that provides an almost perfect versimilitude for the scale of unit it depicts. It's like the difference between the Oscars and the Golden Globes. As some wag noted, "The Globes are as great at the Oscars but without all that "gravitas."
  15. I almost hate to say it, but the screaming mouth is the perfect and most easily recognizable icon for what it represents. The ear or any of the other suggestions would make me have to stop and think what is that symbol about. I wish we could figure out a way to explain the C2 system more easily - like in a flowchart so we could see where a communication break is, and what to do about it.
  16. As we found in CM1, strict time limits in H2H (or vs the AI) can be gamed. What is missing in this discussion is exploration of the "fun factor", and what makes a game fun and enjoyable as a recreational activity. The above are all intellectual issues re "realism". However, there are many factors in CM2 that make it harder work (than say CM1) as opposed to a fun entertainment experience. And that's why CM1 is still going strong. The two constituencies/audiences, the sim fans vs the game fans, will probably always be arguing.
