  1. "tanks spotting panzerschrek teams hidden behind walls or in brush in or around the central village (Compagne?) and orchard and shredding them before team was aware of the tanks' presence" It's an issue that's been noted before. One would think that an inf unit would easily hear a tank (let alone have to get a visual). But, in general, tanks do seem to have an easier time seeing inf than appears realistic. There were also many comments that a moving tank often seems to be able to spot and kill a stationary tank rather than the other way round. (Again, possibly an attampt to favor the attacker which in the majority of cases will be the Allies. But, no conclusions on that.)
  2. I liked the flare in CMSF as it added to the "Lawrence of Arabia" heat atmosphere of the desert. I may remove it from European theatre games. As an aside, most video games have put back artificial lens flare as it's what people expect having seen it in so many movies.
  3. I enjoyed this fun scenario. Interesting unit mix and situation. Looking forward to the final version which sounds even better.
  4. Really miss those stats windows... Now we get some info in the tiny weapons icons with a mod. But, having a large easy to read window was great. The scaling tool was also very useful for locating units. I still am unsure if I prefer the CM2 floating icons vs the CM1 ground bases.
  5. You have a good imagination. I have never been quite sure what is the fascination with maps or scenarios based on RL. Imo, imagined maps and scenarios are usually more enjoyable as the designers can focus on "fun to play" aspects. So, well done! Hope you are motivated to do more.
  6. Enjoying this so far altho' have only completed the 2nd battle. Even though the maps are large, am enjoying the hit and run aspect where you have to do as much damage as possible and get out with minimal if ay casualties and even ammo state is important. ********** Had to redo the 2nd battle half a dozen times before I could get a win and progress. Otherwise you get sent back to the battle one situation (altho' with extra units). What is interesting and original is that these CMA battles are even more sensitive to friendly casualties than even the CMSF Allied forces. I like that...
  7. thanks... haven't made any changes to the laptop (unless it was from auto-upgrades I was unaware of). going to helpdesk...
  8. Interesting... Reminded me that my (Polish) dad told me about the Germans using Dum Dums and their effects when he was fighting them. I remember talking about it in primary school (UK) during a class on WW2 and got a visit to the head master's office who asked me not to upset the other kids.
  9. Surely some HE and MG bullets would be going in the embrasure and killing the crew.
  10. Getting towards the end of battle 3 b4 Xmas stalled everything. Awesome campaign, interesting mix of units and situation. Really enjoying it.
  11. For some reason my CMSF installed on a laptop won't run - it asks for my license again. I have the hard copy box, but after typing in the license from the box the system says my licenses have expired or no new ones are available. I haven't played CMSF on the laptop for a long time. The exec file is dated 7/27/2007. So, it may be the initial install with no patches. Am pretty sure that I used to have CMSF patched to the latest version and all modules installed on this laptop. So, I may have had to delete CMSF for some reason and started to reinstall some time ago and then had to stop. I just don't recall when or why. Can I get a new license before I continue with patches and module installation, or is there some other issue to do with the fact that it is probably a reinstall?
  12. Looks great Baron. Just to clarify: We only need the latest file, not any of the earlier ones?
  13. Lovely... While I still use "the other guy's" mod for calibre and ranges, I like yours for most of the other UI items. Thanks...
  14. Aris has the best vehicles and version of terrain and even some FX like smoke and explosions. So he is a great place to start. The translucent trees mod (sorry can't recall the modder) is also useful. And of course JUJU and others have xnt mods to improve the UI. There are sound mods etc etc... But, there are now many others you may also like, and it will be a time-consuming job to look thru em all. It is all a matter of personal taste.
  15. OMG... wash yer mouth out with soap and water!! Anything but the dreaded reinstall. Actually... after I REBOOTED, CMSF started up fine with NATO available. But, many of my saved games were gone. Aaargh... Then I looked at the version and of course NATO is v1.30 while I had been playng v1.32. Phew... Fortunately, I have the 1.31 and 1.32 patches. So, after installing those (in the correct order for a change) all seems to be back as normal. (I hope.) Thanks for al the encouragement.
  16. If you are into large battles, Himmelfahrt is xnt. Campaigns: KG Engel; and Die Letzte Hoffnung
  17. Should this work in CMFI (or even other CM games)?
  18. Ok, so I disabled AVG and ran as admin and it was successful in installing the NATO.exe in the modules folder. But, now the CMSF game doesn't launch at all. When I double click on either the shortcut or the exe in the main game folder, absolutely nothing happens. (Is this anything to do with NATO being 1.30 and my CMSF was 1.32?)
  19. Thank you for changing the d/l site. Getting it now.
