Anyone there...?

That's good news. Don't forget to add in the sniper, recon, engineers etc specialized symbols that v2.0 allows for.

Shall try to start an unofficial screenshots thread?

Very nice pics esp the 2nd. Looks quite realistic. -
+1 to CMMODS upload. Russian sites tend to be scary and virus infested.

Casualties Wounded to dead
Erwin replied to RT North Dakota's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
"This is why I think we need a dedicated Ambush Command. Hide would be assumed as the "before" and therefore an explicit Hide could be interpreted as an option "after" request." Many players will be very happy with this statement from Steve. Hopefully, it's now merely a question of ETA. -

"Isn't that HIDE + COVERED ARC?" Jon: I think we've determined that HIDE + covered arc is a very dangerous/unsuccessful method of attempting an ambush as most times, your troops will be "lying with their faces in the dirt" while the enemy literally walks up and shoots em in the back. It's my understanding that when ordered to HIDE, no one is keeping any sort of a "look-out". Conversely, as I mentioned, if your troops are behind a wall (for example) and NOT hiding, the enemy can often see em first before an ambush can be sprung. And when the enemy fires, all one's troops are vulnerable as if they are all looking over the wall, as opposed to only one guy. So, what people are asking for is an intermediate command where your troops will be HIDING waiting in ambush, but one guy is looking around every (say) ten seconds or so, in order to spring the ambush (and ensure that the enemy doesn't just walk over and shoot everyone in the back while they are HIDING). -
The complete Eurofacation of CMSF

Thanks for the unambiguous order! Alles Klar. -
I like the idea of making spotted units more obvious. Also the reverse, when you click on a spotted enemy unit, it would be great to more easily see which friendly unit(s) can see it.

Waffen SS camo for v2.0

Thanks Baron. Any chance you can upload to CMMODS? Your site is in Russian, so wasn't sure what to do. -

"Has anybody made it SOP to use small groups as medics?" Many of us use the plethora of HQ units as medics: HQ Support units; XOs; 2ICs etc. Just curious, when a unit does take any casualties, why not make em unavailable for orders for some random amount of time (depending on their morale and experience level I suppose) before they can be used again, per what Steve was saying - since as he pointed out we tend to keep em going while in RL they would be out of action for quite a while? Or is that a game/playability issue? Re the idea of shooting and hiding, the idea would be good esp in WEGO as currently we can only have one or the other for a whole minute. It would be great to be able to order a FIRE BRIEFLY accompanied with a HIDE. The issue re ambushing is also problematic in WEGO. If you HIDE behind a wall (even with a covered arc), the enemy will usually walk up to the wall and shoot you. If you don't hide and are behind a wall, the enemy usually can see you before any ambush can be sprung. And when the enemy fires at you behind your wall, all your men can be hit - even though one would expect that only one guy would be exposed while the others are covered by the wall. It would be great to be able to have an AMBUSH command which is effectively a HIDE in which one guy would poke his head up a few times per minute to check around and if suitable spring the ambush. -
umlaut: I noticed that your mod says v1.11, so will it work with 2.0??

The complete Eurofacation of CMSF
Erwin replied to dpabrams's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Ok, so I can safely remove all SYROPE mods and use only the new Eurifacation mods confident that yours are the best of the best? -
Ok I found where the new version of AVG was hiding the virus vault and there was the NATO exec. So, I RESTORED it. No joy, NATO still is not present in my modules folder. I do have the NATO setup.exe file in the game folder so I tried that. It seemed to install, but when I went to launch I got: "Unable to execute file. (the location) Create Process failed: code 5. Access is Denied." I also have the DVD so I put that in and installed via the DVD. But, again when I tried to launch, got the same message as above. So, any idea what is going on?

[NEW PREVIEW] Juju's TweakedUI v2.0 interface enhancement mod
Erwin replied to Juju's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Got both mods from CMMODS. Thanks! -
Thanks for the all in one terrain file. Didn't have any problem getting it from CMMODS. It is a good reference or BU for your terrain mods. BTW: Are you saying that if one wanted one could delete all the "Aris terrain files" one currently uses in the Z folder, and simply copy over this new all in one folder - ie: there are no options we have to select from, it's all set up to use immediately?

The shader fixer of CMFI also works in the CMBN.
Erwin replied to Erwin.Rommel's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Is there any downside to simply using the shaders for both CMBN and CMFI? I find it very hard to see any difference after loading the game once, exiting, removing or adding the shaders file and reloading the game. So, if one can use these files regardless... BTW: I also accidentally loaded 2.0 before 1.11. I found it easy to fix by deleting the v2.0 and v1.11 brz files from the DATA folder and simply applying 1.11 and then 2.0. No need to do a reinstall like I read some users have been doing. -
There are good reasons to have two forums. The two games are not completely compatible, and each has unique challenges re updates, patches etc. It could get very confusing in a thread if people get confused re which game is being referred to.

Erwin replied to Erwin.Rommel's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Thanks. I got the fix and applied it to CMBN (altho am unsure if I saw the problem described above in the first place). Am a bit confused re CMFI. Are these shaders in CMFI already, so we don't need to apply em to CMFI as well? -
FAO Battlefront. Will MG upgrade game to V2?
Erwin replied to joebloggs's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I have the CMFI 2.0 manual, Paulverisor64. So, hopefully that is the same as the v2.0 update manual. But, I completely agree with your points above. They describe my concerns succinctly. The whole concept currently being implemented is waaay too complex and will get more so as more "families" and modules get released. I don't mind giving BF money. What I do mind is giving BF money and getting a headache from confused complexity in return. -

More Brit scenarios are always welcome. They are the most interesting to game with.
