CMSF never fails to surprise doesn't it. All of the latest @Sgt.Squarehead mosul scenario and @LongLeftFlank wicked Wednesday - made me re visit @dragonwynn campaign. It's a beauty. I too stalled on mission 2 - I'll try working it as suggested above.

'schwacking' lol makes me remember the movie lone survivor . 'I say schawk 'om '

So I am really enjoying the Mosul scenario..Sarge has done a great job...and it's kinda fun to play since I still have @dragonwynn mods for Heart of Darkness installed since I don't feel like moving things around..kinda gives  Mosul sort of a Mad Max feeling...:D...but where is this "Wicked Wednesday?"

Not at the moment. Working on something for CMFB which will be my first effort for that title. I do have one semi worked on for CMSF but haven't got it to where I am satisfied with how to advance the campaign. It involves a hypothetical clash with Iran but just cant get the story and timelines to come together yet.

OOOO, CMFB?  That will be awesome...I really like that game, but for me it kinda gets lost in the CMBN/CMFI/CMFB mix...an awesome campaign will be just the thing...:D

So... @grunt_GI  got schwacked again in the village ? :)

Dang Dang...well, as I am a tad impatient I have worked my up to about (SPOILER) Objective 5....that is a LONG damn way to the last objective....Not being able to blast hell outta everything with my engineers is a pain...I may work my way through...trying to at least get a Draw?  So I can move on.

Really nice infantry scenario...the surprisingly tough MOUT (for a small stinkin' village) makes this one a tough nut to crack.

  4. Ok, so I will stick my neck out.  Since I have a YUGE number of scenarios and campaigns thanks to the magnificent effort of folks to vacuum them up and post them...thanks @Erwin :D  I would like to find out what everyone thinks is:

    1) Best BFC Scenario (came with the base game or a module)

    2)  Best community made Scenario

    3) Best campaign

This is a very practical question...there are over 50 campaigns and 400+ scenarios out there...so I figure I should try the best first....

    C'mon it's been 10 years...I figure there's lots of opinions out there.....

  5. Wow...I remember all the horrible press when it first came out (and of course, many of us Mac owners mourned as it did not initially come out for Mac...which is why I have full versions of both the PC and MAC modules...played it for years under OS X Bootcamp B))...and now, 10 years later, many of us are eagerly awaiting the port of CMSF to the v4.0 engine.

It definitely has aged better than I have the last 10 years.

Kudos to BFC for 10 years of awesomeness.

  6. Oh, there were cleared areas through minefields?

Seriously though, will look again...dark and stormy is tough to see for my old eyes...however, whatever I did, I didn't take too many casualties until I ran up against the (SPOILER) line of FWD OBSERVER posts.

So I probably should have split a couple of scouts and used them with a LMG...will also give that a try.

The challenge I suspect will be getting the pioneers and flamethrowers into position...those guys move SLOW.

    More observations later.

Aye, can we maybe stick to poor bloody Mosul now.....Anyone played anything set there yet, apparently there's a scenario?  ;)

Matter of opinion about the Economist BTW.....Some of us think Economics is much closer to Scientology than Science.  :D

Ok, started playing this...very intense for only 10 minutes in.  Nice mix of forces representing CTS...interesting use of "MRAP" and Hummers. :D The freakin' maze of walled compounds is a giant PITA when trying to direct my troops...no doubt there are nasty surprises waiting for them inside some of those compounds.  Very nice scenario which shows CMSF and soon CMSF2 have some serious legs still.

    Yep!

Oh, now that is freaking outstanding!!  :D

That map opened with no problems....very, very cool...the possibilities are almost limitless for QB junkies like myself....thanks very much!

More CMFI, please....I have a Mac and am not nearly smart enough to make this converter widget work, but will happily sing kudos to all who can.....

Well I meant moreso that someone who knows what they are doing could just upload the converted QB maps somewhere so anyone can download it and simply drop them into the proper folder.

What about uploading them to the Scenario Depot?

I would love to try some CMFI or CMSF maps converted to CMBS....that terrain with modern equipment would be a blast I think.

I believe someone converted a ton of CMRT QB maps to CMBS by a different method since they were fairly similar and uploaded them there.

    Thanks

Starting to deploy only to find your Marine combined arms unit is just a weapons company in Humvees and a platoon of empty Amtracs!

That and Dutch units being almost only engineers for some reason.

Yea, or getting an entire force of Marine static TOW missiles.....

I think that shock force (1) was considdered pretty much a finished game family (as far as modules goes)...

I wounder if the same will be the case with CMSF2 or if we can expect some additional modules....

I mean...this desert setting can be used in a wide variety of scenarios...

    Additional modules like...

    - REGULAR IRANIAN FORCES - with a fictional conflict over there...

    - IRAQI - ALLIED FORCES set at either of the 2 wars timeframe

    - Maybe some afganistan settings...

I don't remember any talk of additional modules...just a straight conversion of the original bundle.

  12. As I recall, the assumption was that most of the CMx1 scenarios/campaigns would work, but they would not be able to take advantage of any of the new AI features in the CMx2 engine.  Which would be perfectly fine with me.

Of course, no one knows until we try it out, but hey, even if only 50% of the content works that's a lot of action.

My bigger desire is to have the CMx2 QB engine instead of the horrible QB generator in the original CMSF that had the GOOFIEST force selections ever.  Just the ability to have more choice in QB will be enough for me.

    Good point Combatintman.

Since ancient times the Infantry (dismounted) has always been considered and rightly called the Queen of battles.

Now that we have mounted Infantry, parking lots seem a necessity.

No parking lots, no Infantry. At least it should work that way ...:D

Yea, but I bet Mech Infantry don't have to worry about getting their parking validated....just sayin'

The map is looking awesome.  Can't wait to get this as a QB map....

On my part I never give up against adversity (The one I have to fight against, in order to be able to manage very rare moment to work on that scenario which is areal challenge for me)

    Cheer

So those screenshots look fantastic, I am sure this will offer other scenario makers and players plenty of challenges.

Thanks much for sticking with this...
