  1. Hey, @dragonwynn  Small nitnoid on Haupt Peiper's Panzer...it appears there's some sort of label/text thing going on...not sure if anyone else has seen it or not.

Only reason I noticed is that I was cleaning out the multiple Stalingrad mods I have on my computer...including two full sets in my CMRT Zmod folder...don't wait to have any weird mod conflicts so was deleting duplicates and when I fired up the game to make sure I didn't screw something up, I noticed this.Screen Shot 2017-05-13 at 10.34.31 PM.png

Erwin, I've messaged you your new gmail account details and you can access my Google Drive folder below once logged in. Note, this Combat Mission folder is open to everyone to access and download/upload scenarios to. You will need a gmail account though to access it.

howdy, looks like we need access to this folder now.

If anyone hasn't checked I also uploaded CMA, CMBN and CMFI scenarios and campaigns.  Am assuming everyone is up to date with CMRT and CMBS.

SOOO, if it's not too much of a pain...I wouldn't mind having the CMBS content...I have about 20 scenarios and 6 campaigns..and I do love CMBS...

  4. @ErwinThanks very much!  I was looking through the CMFI scenario folder...it appears that some CMBN content has been mixed in...I see a lot of files labeled CW and some files that are clearly set in Normandy.  Any chance to double check?

Appreciate your willingness to share these...REALLY cool that you have a lot of documents with the CMSF campaigns and scenarios.

Dammit.  Already I have a problem.  Tried to sign in, got a new password, but then I get to verification and it sends me an e-mail and I try to sign in and around and around we go a couple minutes of that and had enuff.

This is why you don't see me uploading stuff to dropboxes or Google anything.  Grrrr.....

I have 770 MB of Campaign files and 860 MB of scenario files btw.

    Any way we can help?

Hi Erwin, I've created a Google Drive folder called Combat Mission which you and everyone with the link below should be able to access and upload/download to. There's 15gb available so if you can zip and upload each of your scenario/campaign collections I'm happy to leave them there permanently for everyone to access.

OUTSTANDING!  Great idea, thanks so much for setting this up.

And given that CMSF was the only CM2 product for several years, the designers had more time and became VERY good at CMSF scenarios and campaigns by the time CMBN was released.

Dang....any chance you could zip those CMSF and CMBN scenarios and campaigns up and post them to a drop box?  ...I thought I had a lot of CMSF content, but I bow to your greatness, I have less than half those...and CMBN?  wow, didn't even think there was that much content.  I know Bootie was bringing them over to the new Scenario Depot, but hey..any way I can get them.

    On my system (approx):

CMSF:   Over 500 Scenarios + about 43 Campaigns

CMBN:  Almost 350 Scens and about 35 Campaigns

    CMFI:    387 Scens + 15 Campaigns

    CMRT:   100 Scens + 15 Campaigns

    CMBS:    45 Scens + 8 Campaigns

    CMFB:    31 Scens + 4 Campaigns

Yes, the older games have more of each.  But, even taking that into account, the decline is very significant esp for campaigns.  I suspect that volunteer designers are burning out.  Hope the customer base is not going the same way.

And while am sure the game is better H2H, most people play vs the AI.  (Eg: In my case cos it's way more convenient to not worry about keeping an oppo waiting when I have to stop playing for months on end.  Fortunately, BF has yet to implement the AI feature that sends nasty e-mails to slow players.)

Wow, that is impressive...especially for CMSF...

Oh boy... Mission 2 and I was going great guns, in the middle of a two-platoon assault on the second objective, when my Stuka support conducted a Blue-on-Blue strike in the very centre of my main effort. I took about 30 casualties.

That was the end of that battle! Realistic though...

    Stuka.jpg

Dang, I thought it was just  me....I was also limping my way forward when my whole freakin' screen shook from that bomb drop...wowza, that took the wind out of my sails.

And I had just dropped a lot of artillery on them and was hopefully closing in...but damn, after that I was happy to get a draw and move on...

    @dragonwynn---->Urban combat is hard....

  10. So, just started the first scenario...you definitely capture the chaos of an amphibious landing...dang, what a clusterfark....just like the other guys, I did get about 4 tanks simply bogged down and immobilized in the surf in the first 4 or 5 minutes...tried the basic move command...is that intentional?   :D

Otherwise, this is going to be ugly, I hope I get any sort of victory with less casualties than JonS...that sounds like quite the butcher's bill for a total victory.

On the other hand, I've never had warships to call on for fire support...very, very cool.

  11. As I recall, I asked what would happen to all the earlier CMSF scenarios if it was upgraded to the latest engine.

I was told they would "probably" work but of course, their AI would be the older AI without any of the new features.

I agree that a "BEST OF CMSF" Battle/Scenario pack would be awesome...DAMN, I did not realize their were so many Campaigns and Scenarios...I had about 30 Campaigns and 300 Scenarios and I thought that was a lot.

Still, I would totally pay another $50 for an upgraded Mac version...I still play it a lot.

  12. Dang, dang, dang :D

More goodness...well done good sir...now I shall have something besides drink Guinness next weekend when the wife is out of town.

You will of course, force me to go back read my  manual on how to make it through nasty beach obstacles.....but this will definitely make me want to play CW units....which i usually don't .

Another heart breaker and time waster...thanks thanks...

The standard troop-carrying, engineer and command Strykers still have their remote .50 cal or mk19. The recon, fire support, and new mortar carrier vehicles have the pintle mount. When the remote .50 cal needs reloading the gunner is briefly exposed. The gunner is a dedicated crew member, not a passenger.

Still, in a test I did manage to kill the dedicated gunner. One of the loaded-up infantry platoon took his place and continued firing! Frankly, that surprised me! The squad leader did the reloading. Well, that was a happy discovery!

I've noticed in both CMSF and CMBS that for some vehicles if you mount up infantry when a crew member is killed or injured they will man the vehicle MG.

British vehicles in CMSF did that quite regularly, as I recall.

  14. So has anyone started or completed the 2nd mission.  I have gotten schwacked twice...

    SPOILERS BELOW...kinda.....................................................

So I start off taking fire from the adjacent ridgetops...DUH, I can use my CAS to take them out, but besides the need to do more suppression fire and maneuver to get to the first set of buildings, has anyone come up with any creative ideas to clear the village?  The awesome and infuriating map  would lend itself to an up the middle approach, but I fear that's what the bad guys are expecting and attacking uphill to a crap ton of buildings doesn't have a lot of appeal.

Unfortunately, not sure how to try and outflank anything given the terrain.

    Ideas?
