  1. So I finally tried this scenario today, using the "hold the line defense"...did ok for a while, but shear numbers were pushing me back...and that's before (SPOILERS) the Russian tanks showed up.

Will try some other ideas...NOT the best at a free flowing mobile defense especially with UKR forces since I mostly play US.

HOWEVER, @BlackMoria if you loved this scenario, you should try @dragonwynn's Bear and Eagle campaign for CMBS...it has a very similar feel.  The first couple of scenarios are like this..holding off large numbers of Russians...

    Downloaded Devil's Descent, thanks.

When you guys do QB's, do you choose both forces or do you let the Random chooser play out? Random seems to often return unbalanced forces even though I select "Mixed." A quick battle I selected yesterday returned what is basically a force of mostly Priests.

So I do both. It does occasionally give a screwy force.

Some players don’t like to choose both forces as they think it reduces the “fog of war”. This has not been my experience  I can still get my butt kicked knowing exactly what I’m up against.

I like to choose both if I want to try a particular tactical problem. Like giving both sides a company of infantry and platoon of tanks in a meeting engagement. I have even repeated the process on the same QB map with different nationalities just to compare how US vs Brits fare against Waffen SS.  Lots of combinations to try.

  3. @BULLITT428 Did you see this...some good stuff coming...BERLIN maps and all

Thanks for the answers Guys! I'm use to the older games CMBO and CMBB? These CMRT and CMN are new to me. Any ideas when the might be getting some  Future expansions for CMRT. Sure would be nice.

That raises my next question, given that I'm debating three titles:

    Battle For Normandy Bundle

    Shock Force 2 Bundle

    Black Sea

If you want to dive into modern...go with CMSF2...WAY more content than CMBS...you can play almost all of the old CMSF1 campaigns and scenarios..

If you like or want more WW2 goodness.....then CMBN is the way to go...a LOT of content as it was the first of the modern engine games to appears...

  5. OK, not gonna lie, I want this...for CMBS, or CMSF2...OR GASP...BOTH...in order to have some really excellent Blue on Blue...like the ol' Twilight 2000 campaign someone made for CMSF1.  You could have a whole campaign on this map....

    Great work....

    There's a Wal-Mart building there somewhere right?  😎

I figured it was about time I created a scenario for this title and I am now in the closing stages of finishing off a scenario titled Assault on Port Cros. The scenario, while based on historical events, is not what I would term as an accurate representation of them so this is more of an attempt to offer something new and maybe different for CMBN.

    The basics:

Play Mode:  Allied vs Axis AI only.

    Battle Type: Allied attack.

Battle Size: Large (I know this is subjective so to qualify this it is an Allied company plus force against an approximate Axis battalion element).

Battle Length: 3hrs 30 minutes (although this may change based on final testing).

    Map Size:  2368x1264m

Requirements: Market Garden and Vehicle Pack modules.

The basics of the history are that the First Special Service Force assaulted German coastal defences, including Port Cros, on a small island group covering the approaches to the Port of Toulon to set the conditions for the main Operation Dragoon landings in the south of France in August 1944.

The following image forms part of one of the briefing graphics for the scenario:

Excellent...just getting around to doing some more reading on Operation Dragoon...and love scenarios with the Vehicle Pack...

  7. OHHHH, and don't forget this one....it's a scenario...but a FOUR HOUR scenario that many folks have said plays like a campaign...

On August 31st, 2017 at 1300hrs the player takes charge of a Tactical Operations Center (TOC) located in a Forward Operating Base (FOB) for a four-hour shift.  The FOB is located in Ukraine in the vicinity of the forward edge of the conventional battlefield.  After months of conventional warfare the Russian Federation and NATO have fought to a temporary standstill.  A cease fire is in effect and negotiations are underway.  The conventional fighting has been replaced by guerrilla warfare as the Ukrainian government and Separatists attempt to improve their negotiating positions.  Apache Troop (Stryker) / 1st Squadron / 2nd Cavalry Regiment is conducting low intensity operations from the Forward Operating Base.

There's 'old scenarios' and then there's old scenarios.
CMSF2 scenario names will look familiar but take note of all the changes. Scenario changes like proper water tiles, beach landings, bridges and barbed wire, plus new AI tricks (including triggers) and additional AI commands, and reworked victory point allocations. Plus AA assets and on-map mortars. Just because you once played 'Al Huqf Engagement' in CMSF1 don't assume you've played the 'Al Huqf Engagement' that's in CMSF2.

Wooohoo, good point...looking forward to proper water tiles, etc...and beach landings.  😏

Which WW2 base title has the most campaigns and scenarios? I keep hearing that BN has the most content but is that with all the expansions? I would probably stick to the base game for a bit and then move on from there. Thanks everyone for the replies, I really appreciate it.

Even the CMBN base game has a lot of material...but at this point CMBN with all the modules has BY FAR the most user made content.  And it is all great.
