    Ah ok.

yeeeeaaaahhhhh that's a bit of a long shot. I am a fan of max info but that's a bit labor intensive, for now.

    And thank you :)

    Updated to 1.5.1 now!

    UPDATE 1.5.1
Removed the modified briefing screen (not ready yet)
New Command Interrupt buttons.. using WAIT/STOP/FLEE text. Yet..still not happy...
Editor menu/panel buttons completed. The individual icons for various map elemnts are a giant job for some other day...
Support Fires panels adjusted further. The pop-up panel needs some work still.
All .psd files deleted this time! @grunt_GI

Excellent...can't wait to give it a spin....thanks for this...

@grunt_GI Hi Jerry, get rid of those underlines and it will work.

    special editor overlay.bmp

HAHA, literal me...that's exactly how the Scenario Guide PDF has it... @ChrisND  For future reference, some of us literal knuckleheads will probably mess this up.. On page 26 of the Scenario Design PDF you ship with games, you might want to make this change.  Just a thought.

Wow, that is VERY cool...you can see various transparencies of your overlay...outstanding...thanks for the tip.

  3. So I followed these steps and my overlay does not show up...just to be clear, I place the [special_editor_overlay.bmp] in the z file in my DATA folder?  where I put mods right?

    Overlays Quicksteps:
Step 1: decide exactly what area your CM map is going to cover.
Step 2: crop and save an image (from Google Maps, Google Earth, some map you found somewhere, an aerial photo, whatever) to exactly those dimensions. If you add the originals as layers in Google Earth, the ruler tool to help here.
Step 3: name the overlay image from Step 2 special_editor_overlay.bmp and place it in your Z folder
Step 4: open up CM, go to the Editor, go to Map
Step 5: you will see your overlay on top of the map square, but it'll be compressed. Use the + buttons to stretch your map to the desired dimensions, and the overlay image will stretch right along with it. Once you get to the right size map, there should be no distortion in the overlay image.

Just to let you know that I probably won't be around here for the remainder of the month due to work commitments so please don't think that any comments you may make in that time on this mission are being ignored. The good news is that if I get some free time I will be working on some of my other CMSF projects.

More CMSF content?  Excellent! :D  Like @Erwin I still play CMSF in the CM rotation quite a bit...as Monty Python would say.."It's not dead yet!"

  5. I did get both the overall campaign back story and briefing (very well done) and the scenario brief for the first scenario, which I just started.

Also got the mortars in the first scenario.  All the briefings, were, of course, from the Russian side.

Very nicely done from the couple minutes driving around the first map...still love the night time combat I see.  -_-

Those dug in hilltop positions look tough...gonna take some work to make it through this campaign...now I can see how the Russians fight!

  6. Would love to give this a spin, but when I did a download, I also did a quick check and noticed there are still some .psd files in there...that caused ALL sorts of problems for me last time, as you know,  so any chance you could double check and replace all the .psd files with .bmp...

I really like this UI and would love to have the latest version.

Oh, and I still like the text buttons...

    Cheers and thanks,

Note that, while there is a rudimentary AI, this is intended primarily to be a H2H scenario. I'm not planning to do much more with the AI, so don't concern yourself with that aspect in terms of feedback.

Comments posted on TPG...I played your V5 version.

Very nice...well suited to H2H and not bad at all for AI.

I don't know why that section isn't active, but the scenario's there and in the rotation of "Latest" stuff at the top. I also posted the link in my announcement thread a while back. In any case, here it is: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/cm-final-blitzkrieg/a-chance-encounter-revisited/

Frankly, however, I wouldn't bother downloading that version, as it's quite out of date. I've attached the latest version to this post and I'll send the revised scenario to TPG over the weekend.

Ok, grabbed BETA5...will try and give it a spin ASAP and provide you some feedback on TPG...

Balanced against my daily AutoCAD Civil 3D workload B) (I start designing my own first subdivision project today!).

I am excitedly working on a Kohlenklau Mini Campaign called "Forgotten Sacrifice" inspired by small unit actions east of Bastogne in the early days of the Bulge as told in McMannus's "Alamo in the Ardennes". Your character is a non-com in the Bloody Bucket 28th Infantry Division. It has a narrative style to it which I am getting some inputs from oral histories and such.

Features: Die Rolls, player decisions, coin tosses, new mods and an initial prologue battle played off a saved game file (the results of which the player carries into the start of the campaign to manually branch it off)...

I have the script written and most maps done. Just working on axis AI and the mods.

WOOOHOOOO, loved that book, looking forward to another one of  your campaigns...

I already made one and sent it to The Proving Grounds for testing. Nine downloads, no comments. I've got an updated version, based on my own testing and development, that's basically done but based on the lack of interest and feedback I quite frankly wonder if it's even worth releasing.

Hey, if you upload  your newest one to TPG, I will try and give it a spin next week...I enjoy testing scenarios...

The Green Books are excellent for what they are. The problem is that they can be very hard to find, especially in their original printing with all the great maps. There was an effort several years ago to digitize them with mixed results, but I don't know if those are still available for purchase.

This is EVERYTHING done on the US Army in World War 2 on DVD from the GPO...they are all in PDF format and include all the maps.  A BARGAIN at only $11...I bought them on CD as separate volumes years ago and they are fantastic.

After having a little time to play with it, I'd say the thing I notice most is the lack of functionality with regard to selecting forces for scenarios.  The QB thing is what it is, but the changes from then 'til now in the force selection arena are pretty striking.   The camera movement issue was addressed with the last patch (which for some reason the demo still has issues with).  That was going to drive me nuts, but luckily, a non-issue.  Overall, the actual game play differences are almost nil.  Not to say it doesn't play differently, but no differently than would be expected.

Yup...the entire CMSF QB system SUCKED...which is why the system is SOOO much better now...not only do you get some really bizarre force mixes for your self, but I once had an infantry company attack 8 dug-in Syrian T-72s...yup, just the tanks, without any Javelins...needless to say, that battle didn't end well.

BUT, overall the game has a lot of life left in it...

Yea i went through them and found no campaigns but i have all the scenarios. Just looked at In the Green and it looks awesome. In depth and detailed briefing, great map with actual real life forces that were there in Sangin at the time. This will be fun.

So, you should be off and going!  Combatintman makes some good stuff...

After looking through the repository on the BFC site for CMSF British Forces i've just found one scenario called "Into the Green" but the only way i knew or at least suspected it was a scenario based on the recent ISAF conflict in Afghanistan was due to the title "Into the Green" referring to the green zone which in this scenario is in Sangin, Helmand Province. Exactly what i'm looking for, only i'd love for there to be a full campaign, do you know of any?

SO. there are no campaigns I have found dealing with Afghanistan...there are several scenarios...I can load them on my Dropbox if you send me a PM...I have a bunch of scenarios...you can choose the Afghan ones if you like.

I have CMSF with all modules and CM: Afghanistan. I would recommend getting both and the fact that CM:A accurately depicts the Soviet-Afghan war in the 80's. I will at some point get Black Sea and probably the WW2 ones. Can someone tell me which scenarios and campaigns there are for CMSF that are based on the ISAF war in Afghanistan against the Taliban? thanks in advance.

Well the descriptions on the Scenario Depot are pretty good...there are several others as well...once they ALL get uploaded the descriptions will tell you which ones are from Afghanistan.

OK, so for all you new guys, send me a PM and I will send you a link to all my CMSF Campaigns and Scenarios...you can sort through them and do with them what you want.

Ok I see where some of the conflicts are. I loaded up one of the Berlin maps and saw where some of the building graffiti from Stalingrad has magically made it to Berlin. Those pesky Russians have already painted up some of the buildings in my fine city. :D To fix this probably will require me to go in and change all of the Factory Mod tags to something different for this Campaign, a rather daunting task lol. For now anyone who is playing the campaign should either move the Stalingrad mod out of the data folder or use a separate install, or just enjoy the graffiti and any other conflicts that show up lol. I may try to go in and change the tags in the campaign and post an updated mod folder when I feel spiffy enough.

For future reference I am using mod tags specific to each new campaign/scenario so hopefully this will not be a future problem.

Sorry about the mod conflicts and once again awesome job on the Stalingrad Mod guys.

    Michael (dragonwynn)

I assumed (but don't know for sure) that is was Umlauts Factory mods...PLUS both of the mod sets are YUGE, so I just assumed since you both had some of the same mods they were colliding.. it wasn't a big deal for me to move Mods around as I can't do two CMRT installs on my Mac (or should I say I don't want to try)...I figure I will be playing Last Panzer OR Stalingrad...probably not both at once, ya know?

Well, I bought the whole package. Chris saying that 4.0 will eventually make it's way to SF gives me hope that this title will stick around.  I bought the base game for 15 bucks, messed around with it a bit, and that was enough to convince me to pick up the bundle of modules.  Which, by the way, was indeed the same price as the mac version (I saw save 35).  $55 for the whole kit 'n caboodle.  It's my berfday so what the hell?

I think you will enjoy it a lot...just don't measure it against the games with the V3 engine, and weigh it as a stand alone title...and try not to get too annoyed at the farked up QB system...  I haven't figured out how yet...
