  1. Ditto pzrldr for me. I'm beta testing CMBS but never played CMSF. CMBN was my first CMx2 experience.
  2. One slightly pain in the ass way around the issue is to set the in-game resolution to 1024 x 768 in the options menu, read the briefing, then change it back to desktop resolution. It's a PITA because you have to exit the game each time you change it, but it works.
  3. It's been way too long since I played CMx1 to make a comparison. But suppression does wear off rather quickly in CMx2, at least in comparison to reality.
  4. Yeaahh, the shrapnel thing actually refers to an increase in the lethality of explosions. AFAIK there is no change in the graphics.
  5. Kinda. It's more like extending an existing feature to encompass both sides. I still have no idea why it wasn't done that way from the beginning.
  6. Not exactly, but there are general differences and Abrams tanks do spot better than Russian tanks.
  7. No. And to the best of my knowledge, hiding tanks are not more difficult to spot. I wish they were, and in fact I did suggest it when I reported this bug but Charles gave no indication that he implemented that. So AFAIK, it just reduces the range at which enemy units can gain a sound contact on them. In other words, it now works like the manual says it does.
  8. Also, IIRC the Khrizantema did not have salvo fire in Beta 8.
  9. I feel that the best way to address this would be to enable the Force Adjustment % modifier to be applied to both sides instead of just the one.
  10. The next patch should make HE a little more effective.
  11. I don't remember off hand the exact distance, but they need to be within 2 or 3 action spots to share ammo. It doesn't matter which ammo bearer is with what gun as long as they both have the same immediately superior HQ.
  12. They're not nearly equal. Also, this AAR is a premade scenario, not a Quick Battle.
  13. Russian tanks in-game are assumed to be using 3BM60 Svinets-2, a DU round that AFAIK has not yet entered production. It will probably penetrate around 730mm RHA In Real Life™.
  14. I don't know when the video in question was made, but Abrams armor resistance was lowed in a few weeks ago. Prior to that, Russian APFSDS could only penetrate frontally through the lower hull. It is now also vulnerable through the gun mantlet and the small area directly beneath it.
  15. The game can't see the file on your desktop. You need to find the Game Files folder and then the Incoming Email subfolder inside it. Where this is located can vary depending on your installation, but it is either under you main CMBN directory or under My Documents --> Battlefront --> Combat Mission --> Battle for Normandy --> Game Files --> Incoming Email. Whereever it is, that is where the file has to go. You will also see the Outgoing Email folder next to it where your finished PBEM turns appear. This is assuming you are on a PC. If you are on a Mac then I have no idea.
  16. I have looked into this a little further. This bug affects any AT guns purchased as part of a formation in which they begin limbered to half tracks: UK Antitank Battation (CMBN) US Armored Infantry Battalion (CMBN) GE Regimental Anti-tank Company (CMBN and CMRT) (let me know if I missed any) It also affects three half tracks when purchased as individual vehicles: UK M5, US M2A1 and US M3A1 (2 x MG). Other half tracks seem to work fine with AT guns as long as they are purchased individually.
  17. The Regimental Anti-tank Platoon is missing its AT guns. I'll report it.
  18. Unfortunately no, since the Force Adjustment modifier can only be applied to the "attacker" side for some reason. Hopefully, some day that will change.
  19. This is actually an unfortunate consequence of fixing something else. There was a bug in all the recent CM games where if you gave a deployed heavy weapons team a target or rotate order in a significantly different direction than their current facing the gunner and his assistant would crawl around forever, rendering the weapon non-functional unless you moved it to another action spot. Now they can change facing and fire normally but instead of having the gunner and assistant move around the gun or vice versa both rotate in place independently, placing the gun behind the gunner. IIRC mortars are not as bad, or are at least not as obviously broken.
  20. Um, no. You keep saying that, but it is simply not true. These are the expected first shot hit probabilities for King Tiger gunners in training, i.e. on an actual firing range. Hit probability versus 2.5m x 2m target 100m: 100% 500m: 100% 1000m: 100% 1500m: 95% 2000m: 85% 2500m: 75% 3000m: 61% 3500m: 51% 4000m: 42% Source: Kingtiger Heavy Tank: 1942-1945, Thomas Jentz
  21. Perhaps, but that's a bit apples to oranges as there were a lot of 37mm, short-barrel 50mm and 2 pdr-armed tanks in North Africa. Engagement ranges in Northern Europe 1944-45 were well over that. -- Zaloga, Panther vs Sherman -- Tank Tactics: From Normandy to Lorraine, Roman Johann Jarymowycz German panzer iv crews were trained to open fire at 1200 meters as that is the maximum range at which their mili-radian sights allowed them to "fire for effect" without use of bracketing. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=510734&postcount=1 Note: tank accuracy in CM is lower than the above numbers! Panthers, Tigers and Allied tanks with similar high velocity cannon could engage at even longer ranges. -- Commander of the III Panzer Korps General der Panzertruppe Hermann Breith, 21 July 1943
