  1. What I mean is that in WEGO it's only during the playback phase that you have to have no units selected to see everyone. In RT and TCP/IP WEGO it's that way all the time.
  2. Odd. I tested this earlier today and they fired the RPOs into buildings without hesitation. But that was on a test map without anything else going on around them.
  3. The FPS counter in Chris's game is there because he is running a developer version that has a built-in counter. It's not in the public version (don't be sad; the game runs faster without it).
  4. The only possible issue with precision rounds is that Russian and Ukrainian tanks are more vulnerable to them as the game seems to assume they have thinner roof armor than the Abrams. I have seen some evidence that this is not correct, but hard number are difficult to find.
  5. All QB terrain objectives are of the occupy variety. The only way is to save the game and then hit cease fire to see the end game screen. Then reload the save and continue.
  6. It was discussed internally, and the best info that we came up with is that there is no multispectral smoke deliverable via indirect fire in the US, Russian or Ukrainian military. We know with near 100% certainty that the US doesn't have it. There are some "foreign" (I don't know the nationality) sources of artillery smoke that advertise themselves as multispectral, but our same source states that the US has tested them and found that they don't work any better than WP. I was gobsmacked by all this, and also dismayed, but it is correct to the best or our knowledge.
  7. It's mostly true when playing in real time and TCP/IP WEGO. Believe me I have played TCP/IP WEGO (which is actually real time with enforced pauses) in Iron mode and it is very hard to maintain situational awareness with a large force. I prefer Elite for real time. But it is very misleading for how it works in regular WEGO.
  8. ^^^ This You should be fine, particularly since IR sights are ubiquitous in US forces.
  9. I'm not sure when it changed, although it was definitely before V3. I never played Shock Force and I started out playing CMBN on Elite for the same reasons you did. But eventually someone pointed out to me that Iron doesn't work the way I thought it did, so I tried it again and never went back.
  10. Unless it's been updated for Black Sea the manual is actually badly out of date regarding how Iron mode works. Iron mode used to work differently when CMSF was released but was changed at some point, and the manual hasn't quite kept up.
  11. Interface-wise, Iron mode only shows friendly units that are visible to the selected unit, and IIRC units that are in direct contact with it via C2. But it if you are playing WEGO it only does this during the replay phase. During the orders phase its the same as Elite. As for realism, in Iron mode for C2 purposes units have to spot friendly units via passing LOS checks the same as they do enemy units. On Elite and lower, friendly units in LOS of each other automatically pass their spot checks to spot each other. Also, Iron strictly requires LOS between friendly units to maintain C2 by sight, whereas in Elite and lower C2 via sight is allowed in some situations where friendly units don't have LOS to each other but are near to having it.
  12. Do these two HQs have the same immediately superior HQ?
  13. The US Army is phasing out DPICM. The shelf life of its munition stockpile is expiring and they are being decommissioned. The Army is developing a replacement munition under the Alternative Warhead Program that is supposed to have a similar effect but without the unacceptable dud rate.
  14. In WEGO the information you get in Iron is presented in exactly the same way as in Elite during the orders phase.
  15. Yep. And do remember that the Dismount command cannot be canceled.
  16. Soviet mechanized infantry is in the game. They are called tankodesantniki. The Soviets did not have mech infantry in the same sense the Germans and Western allies did. What Lend Lease halftracks they did have they mostly used as prime movers rather than as battlefield taxis for infantry squads. For that reason it is difficult to impossible to get an apples to apples purely mech infantry game on the Eastern front, although once we get the Lend Lease stuff in a module there will be nothing stopping you from ignoring history and using the halftracks in a more Western fashion.
  17. Yeah that could be an issue. OTOH I have not been overwhelmed by the M25 CDTE. It seems to suppress very well but its lethality isn't tremendous. And I have seen 40mm HEDP penetrate the side of a T-90, something the 25mm CDTE won't do.
  18. As others have pointed out, thermal sights and Javelin missiles are two reasons. Another is that individual US squads and teams are eligible to call in artillery. I would not be surprised if some adjustments will need to be made, but discovering if there is a need for it will be most of the fun
  19. Yep. At least on Nvidia cards you can set the vsync to 1/2 of the monitor's refresh rate to reduce fluctuation.
  20. Me too. I already have a save game file I intend to submit with the bug report. Of course, it may not be a bug, but it's sure ugly like one.
  21. Loopy trajectory is modeled. Fire rate tends to track closely with shell size. 105 will shoot less often than 75. But it hits harder.
  22. The CM spotting model does occasionally produce highly improbable results. The fact that units spot in intervals rather than continuously (for performance reasons), combined with a large amount of random variability make it inevitable. Add in poor light and/or bad weather and a WTF moment is a matter of when not if. Which is also why you can't put much stock in any single event. I was testing tank spotting recently. Daytime, perfect weather. On one test run 9 of the 10 tanks spotted their adversary within 2 turns. One tank took almost 10 turns. My guess is that this is a 1 in 10 type event. It still sucks when it happens to you, especially in a PBEM, but that's the fickle finger of CM fate.
  23. Apologies of it's been mentioned, but what QB map or scenario is this?
