  1. It's interesting to read that, because a fellow beta tester who is current US army told us they are "like magic". There was a lot of debate over this.
  2. BMP-3 or BMP-3M? The BMP-3M has a thermal sight for the gunner (Vesna-K), the BMP-3 does not. The way thermal imaging systems work in-game is somewhat abstracted. If thermal sights worked the same in the game as they do in reality it would mean that everything in LOS would be spotted almost instantly, 100% of the time. It's implementation in Black Sea functions as a spotting bonus with the added ability to see through normal smoke and be less affected by fog and bad weather in general.
  3. Weapons are sometimes damaged, so they are randomly not salvageable. If it is NEVER salvaged then that could be a problem.
  4. The schreck team is blanketed by a smoke screen. Were you expecting them to see through it?
  5. That should put to rest any questions as to whether the radar on the Khriz works or not
  6. Not necessarily. Building destruction in CM is abstracted. In reality, buildings rarely collapse all at once like they do in the game.
  7. A list of vehicles that should always spot better while buttoned (at least to the front of the vehicle) was compiled by a kindly dude for internal use which I can probably post here now: M1A2 T-90AM BM Oplot M2A3 M3A3 M7A3 Khrizantema Tunguska There are other vehicles for which it is not clear-cut or may be circumstantial with regards to day/night.
  8. Second most common last words behind Oh ****.
  9. I don't know about spotting, but all 3 Russian tanks use the same gun and APFSDS ammunition.
  10. Russian IR is already assumed to be less advanced than Western. Your point about the radar is interesting. I don't know much about it myself, but a fellow beta guy is under the impression that the Khrizantema's radar has ground surveillance capability similar to the BRM-1K and BRM-3K.
  11. That's another one that already has a beta lobby. IIRC, it was originally suggested at about the same time Target Briefly was implemented during Red Thunder development.
  12. That's normal. At 2000 meters about 91% of Abrams hits on the T-90 front will penetrate. Single ERA blocks never stop the Abrams. Only when the shot happens to hit on the edge of an ERA block and thereby detonate two of them does it deflect.
  13. Make sure they are buttoned up. While the crew will spot better to the sides of the vehicle while unbuttoned they will spot worse towards the frontal arc.
  14. Yes. You have to tweak the date to October, which will not be possible until the first module is released
  15. The radar is supposed to work in an abstracted sort of way. But it is also assumed to be not always turned on. But even with a not-always-on radar the Khriz is supposed to be one of the best spotting vehicles in the game. Unfortunately, because of the highly random nature of spotting in CMx2 how good or bad anything is at spotting is difficult to tell from a small number of examples, particularly outside of a test environment where factors other than the vehicle's attributes are at play.
  16. This has more to do with the weapons modeling than bunching up. Automatic weapons and unstabilized automatic weapons in particular are too accurate when fired rapidly.
  17. I have checked the materials provided. No, I don't think I can get a useful estimation. Then again, I'm looking at them on my phone. If anyone thinks they have a good estimation I am all ears, er eyes.
  18. Yes. While that is a terrific source, it says nothing about the roof armor except that it has "good slope".
  19. Awesome. I never played CMSF so didn't know it used to move.
  20. Anyone know what it is? Bonus points for links to reputable-looking sources.
  21. It's mounted on a traversable ring, along with the commander's sight and hatch. The CM engine seems to not allow for traversable rings to traverse, so it has to be set in a some position permanently. Unfortunately, the chosen position is with the machine gun facing backwards, which is correct for when the commander is buttoned but not when he is unbuttoned. I personally think this is a mistake; that it should be turned around and the commander's sight fudged. I will lobby for it internally but don't hold your breath.
  22. IIRC all Russian tanks in the game are assumed to be armed with 2A46M-5.
  23. T-90 is lighter so it can cross some bridges the Abrams can't. Based on how much fuel the Abram's turbine engine burns I would also bet the T-90 has a shorter logistical tail. But those factors are mostly irrelevant in tactical war games, which by their nature tend to emphasize the gun and armor above other factors.
