  1. I don't recall CMx1 working like that at all. You controlled units in almost the exact same way as in CMBN. The only reason CMBN is more micromanagement intensive is because of the 1:1 infantry modeling.
  2. Although Allied soldiers seemed to generally prefer their own kit to what the Germans had, when it came to tanks they probably did wish they could trade.
  3. It is very well done. But now I'm torn between this and Vein's.
  4. BFC does list their game forums in order of priority, and the Touch forum is at the top of the main page above CMBN. So, yeah I think this is the end.
  5. http://www.battlefront.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=135
  6. I've seen this on a few occasions. I think it is likely a bug. If I ever get a reproducible save file I'll start a new thread.
  7. It's probably the pictures that are faded. Given the massive turnover in personnel the Wehrmacht was going through I doubt any of those helmets were very old.
  8. When the QB starts the battalion Co should be already selected. Click on the formations tab (3 flags) to bring up the list of companies. Click on A company. Now the A company Co is selected. Double click on his icon to select the entire company. Press N or whatever your shortcut key is for Move and click somewhere near the opposite side of your set up zone. If the zone is narrow make sure you are clicking in about the same relative location the Co is currently at relative to the boundaries or you may leave stragglers behind. Now you have one whole company separate from the battalion. Click on the battalion Co where it is listed in the chain of command at the lower left of the UI. Now you have the battalion Co selected again. Go back to the formations listing and click on the Company B to move company B. Repeat this process for all 4 (usually) companies. It should take about 2 or 3 minutes even with having to go back for a few stragglers. Now you just have to go through each company individually and group the squads together with the proper platoon leader, ect, which is maybe a few minutes per company. I really have no idea how someone could take an hour or more to do this unless they had cerebral palsy or something.
  9. For a battalion it takes me maybe 10 minutes to separate and organize, and maybe another 20 minutes to position. For me the only thing that takes a long time is planning what I want to do and how I want to do it.
  10. You will know for sure very soon. According to the announcement the release date is tomorrow
  11. Anybody notice the title of the announcement thread? "Fools, do you want to live forever?!"
  12. This is very cool! Are the weapon and vehicle specs extracted from the CMBN game data or are they copied over from the CMx1 games? EDIT: Never mind. Found the answer in the Readme.txt
  13. The thing is, the AT weapon usage in building issue is one of the few things they actually can change. It's not an issue of not enough time or resources. People go on and on about things such as Armored Covered arcs and fire, things that are certainly worthy of discussion but that BFC have categorically stated will not be included in this game, but apparently we can't talk about something they could do if they just wanted to because it's not entertaining enough to read. So what can we talk about? Would someone like to start a Bren tripod thread?
  14. If it comes up that often it's probably because a fair number of people are unhappy about it. Although it may feel right to you, it feels wrong to me in that it makes something that was already unrealistically hard in the game -- infantry taking on tanks -- even more hard. And at the end of the day I primarily post about things that I think will make the game better, not to entertain people.
  15. Given that it is one of the few oft-discussed changes that could be made in a patch -- as opposed to having to wait for the next game -- I for one intend to keep boring, annoying and generally pissing people off by bringing it up every now and then.
  16. Now that I think about it, it also affects snipers who can't stop their spotter from shooting. I don't think it's so much a 1:1 issue as a lack of SOPs issue, or failing that a lack of smart TacAI issue. But it is true that it makes defense harder, which is already much harder than it should be. I hope it's on BFC's radar.
  17. I vote for allowing infantry to fire anti-tank rockets from inside structures. It is not a bug, but rather an unfortunate design decision. It would have a very significant impact on the unrealistic dominance of armor in the game -- particularly in urban terrain -- while also being relatively easy to implement compared to other solutions.
  18. He said the cannon did fire at the target so it was not an LOS issue. AFAIK there is no way to order any unit to only use their heavy weapons, although you can do the opposite with Target Light. What would be needed is a Target Heavy command, which would also solve the problem of Bazooka/Shrek teams firing their small arms at tank commanders to give away their location. I think Zmoney's work around would work in this case.
  19. There was a bug in 1.00 that sometimes prevented vehicles from going through holes even 3 action spots wide. I sent a save game file to GeorgeMC (upon his request) but I don't recall if it was fixed.
  20. Well, he did say they were immobilized. I would consider that substantially damaged
  21. +1 Of all possible fixes/changes mentioned this would be by far the easiest to implement. Heck, since it would simply be a matter of reversing an earlier change they could probably do it in the next patch.
  22. Sure would be nice to have some AA units in the game. Just sayin'.
