  1. Heh... I was counting on Steve's uncontrollable urge to contradict me to lure him into a weekend release. Muahahahahaa!!
  2. My recollection is Steve once explained they don't do Friday or weekend releases for logisitical reasons that made sense whenever he explained it. I'd thought he'd included Monday as well in the cross-through list, but if the list of prior release days on this topic is correct, that obviously isn't the case.
  3. Looks great. BenPark made one that's in the repository somewhere. I've got to revisit that with tanksalot's buildings.
  4. I'm not getting this either. Looks fine to me.
  5. Just so there's no confusion; I didn't get through the second mission on the first try. On the first page of this thread I stated that I had been stuck on it for months. Not playing it every day, of course, but making an attempt, getting wiped out, getting disgusted, then putting it away for a few weeks until I'd forgotten how hopeless it seemed. I tried up the center several times, around the left ... when all else fails ...
  6. Pretty much. Your camera has to be in a position from which the sound may be heard. Yes, you can run around the map and come pretty darned close to where the mortars are based on sound.
  7. TBH [MAJOR SPOILER] * * * * * * * * * From the set up zone, move everything along the road to the RIGHT, then send everything along that right side of the map up the hill. Avoid the center rock wall, avoid that little gully to the left of the rock wall. You can make it to that road halfway up the hill. There are enemy troops on the right side of that hill. A combination of shoot-n-scoot from the HT and artillery will take care of the entrenched ones impeding your fruther advance. You'll have opposition on the side of the hill higher up overlooking your troops once you get to the road, but you can keep them suppressed and get your force within the shadow of that hill. Once there, you can work your way up the hill and isolate units by using the terrain for cover.
  8. All good advice above. Personally, I haven't touched any over the older iterations of CM since CMBN, but CMBO/BB/AK kept many of us going for many many years so I couldn't say those older games wouldn't be worth your time, but the play is so different from CMBN/FI, very little would carry over. Try the demos, and WELCOME. CM is addictive in the extreme.
  9. Damned Straight! Literally JUST finished it after months of inertia on the second mission. Fantastic maps - very visually appealing and tactically interesting.
  10. Same here. I really used to enjoy the atmosphere (no pun intended) added by thick fog.
  11. [MISSION 2] FINALLY(!) found a covered approach. Mission 3 is pretty fun so far.
  12. Same. Just getting green troops ground down. First mission was was able to utilize terrain to find *some* defilade while isolating enemy positions. Not happening on here. Every approach has withering fire sufficient to melt my wet behind the ear troops.
  13. There's always "my pretty pony" if wargames offend one's sensibilities. Here, let me point you in the right direction: http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_us/
  14. Numerous incidents of believing a street or building to be clear only to have multiple squads shredded. I imagine this is pretty common, especially relatively early on in scenarios before much contact info has been gleened.
  15. That was it: had "Infantry only" selected. Oldtimer's disease.
  16. It's been awhile since I've played CMBN, but weren't airborne infantry a force selection option in QBs? Don't see 'em available on v2.0.
  17. Maybe the Gov. should nationalize game updates since they seem to be unaffordable for an alarming number of citizens and non-citizens.
  18. It's $10 whole farkin' dollars. That will get you a couple filet-0-fish sandwiches, an order of fries, and a milk shake nowadays (not even sure on the milk shake). See whether V2.0 upgrade or the value meal from McD's + 1 sandwich is more satisfying. Seriously, b@#$ing about $10 for a major update including features people have been screaming for since CMBN was released is absurd.
