  1. We are all so happy for you. Thanks for sharing your joy. Now y'all be good chilluns and run along and play!
  2. Try d/l flashget, install and use...it brought me up from 40-50 to 400 kb/s. It was suggested here and it seems to work. I use firefox and had to also d/l and install the flashgot browser add on too. I have cable and usually get 1.5 - 2.0 mb/s so this is at least some consolation.
  3. Well, as suggested above (thanks) Flashget boosted me from 40-50 kb/sec to 400 or so. Some gratification for that, at least.
  4. Nice work letting the world know...d/l speed 200 kb/sec, less than 10% of my capacity. Now it will take just...4 hrs to d/l while the bigmouths get to go play after tooting their horns about it. Not pissed. Not really. I'm not a damn bit irritated.
  5. Yeah, I heard the saying as "Friendly fire, isn't."
  6. On the other hand, Steve posted that last night in the Tank thread that they were working on 1.01 already...which I took to mean that 1.0 (presumably the gold) was done. I'm betting on tomorrow or Thursday.
  7. I recently encountered a site that provided a list of words and to qualify, I had to type in the word from the list that was an animal. At least I could read the list, so I ended up liking that system.
  8. Is that so? Out because of no AAA simulation? I wonder about that. I personally think that the German AA should have been in the game. There were dozens if not hundreds of German light and medium field AA guns in the Normandy area at the time of D-Day and many were used in an anti-infantry or anti-armor role at one time or another. I could see the Allied AA being left out since what there was in the early days of Overlord, was deployed on the beaches to defend the Mulberrys, etc. Not much got inland right away and their first priority would indeed have been AAA coverage of the beaches. But I am curious as to why no German light AA made the cut for this release.
  9. There have been posts on other threads describing friendly fire incidents observed in the CMN demo. Many seem to involve shrapnel but some are firefight rifle wounds. Ricochets may factor into this too. You may have to dig around a bit but I've seen them in the past two days.
  10. You're new around here, aren't you? (ducks and runs)
  11. Yes, I concur, I think there is some degree of education going on here about the nature of the Normandy hedgerow phenomenon. Not much different than that which the US Army went through at the time, according to the history books. We don't always like what we find out to be true. And there are always those who have to test reality.
  12. I take note of the fact that Steve said in this thread http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=96712 That makes me think release will be within this week.
  13. Reporting for duty sir!...er, rather, for sitting around, contemplating my navel. I too suspect it will be here before the 20th because I cannot see BFC knowingly building up our hopes this way without announcing it would be after the 20th.
  14. It doesn't sound like it was done very often once the tankers learned just how tough those hedgerows were on their tanks, not to mention the tactical disadvantage of showing your belly to the Germans and being unable to bring weapons to bear at the same time. I can see why it was left out of the game, since Steve and team seemed to want to focus their energy and attention on the most common battlefield situations, not the exceptions to the rule, e.g. infantry riding tanks into action were left out since it was not common with US forces (some short range transport of US infantry by tanks was done, but once near the line of contact, they usually were dismounted and the game scenarios are supposed to pick up about then.) I want them to focus their time and energy on beefing up the command options in the upcoming patches.
  15. Yes life is backwards...we have all our energy up front when we actually need it most near the end, and all our wisdom towards the end when we could really use it in the beginning.
  16. WOOT! - That sounds a lot like "Any day now..."
  17. Yea, these guys seem to have some "character" don't they? For better or for worse, they sure seem to not be too predictable. In a good way for the most part, since I like the uncertainty that is injected into the game from it...seems more realistic somehow.
  18. That's what Wiki says, anyway. More less that he liked the prototype, renamed it sturmgewehr "assault rifle" and model 1944 since that's when it came to his attention. Here's their reference: http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/ttt07/stg44-assault-rifle.html
  19. The wargamer site has all sorts of industry news releases if you click on their "news" link at the top menu; I sent them an email about CM:BfN demo but they have not updated it yet. I did manage to get CM:BfN demo news posted on tacticular cancer.
  20. Ditto. I saw a 3-man MG team get reduced to one man, who then lugged the MG from where they had been hit by artillery, to another location behind a wall, where he then set up the MG for a last stand. Very impressive.
  21. My bet is on a Friday release, hopefully this week. From what Steve said earlier, I gathered that they wanted some time to get impressions about the demo (and maybe ideas for the first patch?)
  22. "Never got the respect it deserved from people who have never been under fire from one," I think you mean.
