  1. nice to see they have updated the infantry models so the Germans hold their rifles in their right arms when they sprint. I still think it will take a 'grog mod' to make it reasonably realistic, for all the reasons noted above.
  2. I'm still gobsmacked by the fact that a game I bought in 2011 is still being updated and improved. Take your time jar man.
  3. I am guilty of sitting on my copy of the book and waiting for a rainy day. His work is always very detailed and a joy to read. Yes a Stalingrad module release would make my decade. Oh look - it's raining.
  4. Two completely different game systems, difficult to compare them at all as sburke mentions. These new games have the graphics but they certainly don't have the historical TOE/tactics/FOW etc. I expect that a grog mod will be required before I get serious with it ( I mean, the AFV system uses health points at the moment for example). They are a hoot to play though (eg Red Orchestra)
  5. egads! Another one in development! https://www.hellletloose.com/
  6. Haven't seen anyone mention this yet so .. new FPS Market Garden game. Check out some gameplay vids on youtube; it's rather engaging. I'm going to buy it just to stroll around the 1:1 historical maps. http://postscriptumgame.com/ Out 'fairly soon' (ahem).
  7. The light!! The gloves!! Although... Nikon verdammt. Leitz optiks fur das win. (ahem).
  8. great choice to get the bundle. There's some cracking scenarios there. GL Elephants and tigers is one of my faves. cheers
  9. I have a lappy with the 960m and it does a fine job with CMx2 @ 1920x1080. Aim for the fastest core i5 cpu you can afford and get 8GB ram instead of 4 if possible (for general computing) cheers
  10. Don't worry Bil, I am expecting the next dinner table conversation with our kidults to include them saying 'Discord..meh.. that was so... February..'
  11. also try setting these in the compatibility tab of the exe. I found this helped when font scaling more than 100% was being used on my lappy
  12. ^^ that. I don't understand the frustration myself. But then again, I have friends my age that still don't know what Windows file explorer is.
  13. tip: copy and paste all your serial numbers in to a text file. Download all the latest master installer files for each game, pop them on a usb drive or sumfink. Then you will be prepared for the exciting times ahead with your new machine.
  14. ahhh...thank you sir. I'll look out for that next time I notice it off.
  15. any beta testers care to comment whether the random turning off of shaders by the engine has been fixed? Still seeing it occasionally.
  16. a patch fix list would be the most wonderful way to round off the bones ceremony...
  17. Just adding another comment here - would love to see the next engine have a separate mp TCP server (linux preferrably) that players can host themselves, that will support more than 2 players, and for a bonus, allow other players to connect and observe the games. And /or... give me access to the appropriate source code and I'll coerce my son to write it (full stack dev). :-)
  18. no new features to tcp MP and Steve has said that TCP wego replay won't happen in CM2 (but did not hint it would in the next). In its current format it's reasonably stable, there's a few minor bugs hanging around but no show stoppers
  19. recently upgraded to a Viewsonic 2703gs 27" monitor 2560x1440 and couldn't be happier with it for CM. Very fast screen refresh rate and 4ms response times, very accurate colours. Death and destruction has never looked so beautiful.
  20. well I took the leap from a 24" 1920x1080 to a 27" 2560x 1440 IPS gaming monitor and I have to say CM has never looked so good. I did a full upgrade on graphics card and cpu etc as well, to be fair, but the UI is still VERY readable at this particular native resolution. Years left in the current engine IMHO. cheers!
  21. First thing to check is that you have set static lan ip's on both your pc's so that the ports are forwarding to the correct end ips on each lan. If your PCs are set to dhcp it may well be they are assigned different ips by your routers when they are turned on again. Actually, only the host requires port forwarding to be set at all, the client doesn't need any special configs. Secondly I wouldn't bother with Hamachi. It's simply not need to play via tcpip given the above is setup correctly.
