I recently did a battle called Forgotten Front which is very tank-heavy. It is avaliable at Boots & Tracks. WWB

I am not making 3 versions of any battle, thank you very much. I make one version for one aspect of play, and sometimes it works for two. As for the rah-rah reaction, well, when was the last time The Best F'n CM Scenario Designers on Earth released 25+ battles, operations & maps at once? Aside from the CD that is. WWB

Is the panzer by chance moving? Embarking units will sit and wait for a moving unit to come to them. They will not move when the unit they will embark on is moving. WWB

Operations: vehicle repair/ recovery
WWB replied to landser's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Recovery is automatic. You can see if it happens by looking out to see if any Abandoned vehicles miraculously disappear. They will show up the next morning, IIRC. WWB -
And it gets alot better. It is now running on a PHP friendly webhost, making updates a hell of a lot easier. Not much new content--yet. Anyhow, you can find the CM Tech Support page on The 3d Wargamer. WWB [ November 23, 2002, 06:20 PM: Message edited by: wwb_99 ]

A consideration for those who design operations
WWB replied to lassner.1's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Scott pretty much got it right. Best I have ever got close to is medium (dergratschi roadblock), but conditional reinforcements threw it into large. Also note that fortifications also count as units in the size category. There is an op I once did that was "huge" before a single fighting unit was placed on map. WWB -
Operation designers, please help me ...
WWB replied to Nolloff's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
You can do strongpoints, even for off map parts. Padlocked fortifications stay padlocked where they are. Combine that with a "Spot on map" type reinforcement and you got an instant strongpoint. WWB -
CMBB won't run on my Inspiron 8200 laptop
WWB replied to meditek's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Try the 30.82s. The GeForce2 Go is a bit funky anyhow, it might not like the 40.72s. Have you tried minimizing and coming back ingame? It is actually running--you are seeing the opening screen just not the inactive bitmaps--so it might need a little refresh tweak. WWB -
Are you logged in as administrator? I have seen some progams look for that login, not if you in the Administrators group. WWB

1.01 - No snow on the ground in the south - Why?
WWB replied to BlackVoid's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I did some testing on this, using the south region and febuary. Got snow most of the time. Might be a month threshold thing. WWB -
Try Boots and Tracks, link is in the sigline. WWB

T-34M41 turret front - fixed or not?
WWB replied to Tankgunner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
If you want the 52mm front turret, see the T34M41 with the cast turret. The patch will effect the 37mm a bit, penetration was dropped slightly. WWB -
Before you install the 1.02 patch do the following: 1) Go to your CMBB folder (typically c:\program files\cmbb). 2) Look for a file called Barbarossa to Berlin.exe. 3) Right click on that file and choose RENAME. 4) Change the name of that file to Barbarossa to Berlin101.exe. 5) Right click on the Barbarossa to Berlin101.exe and chose SEND TO->DESKTOP. 6) Apply patch. You will have a 2nd shortcut on your desktop going to the 1.01 version for PBEM compatibility. WWB EDIT: Sorry, I wrote this from work where I have no CM to check filenames against. EDIT II: Updated for 1.02. [ February 12, 2003, 08:31 AM: Message edited by: wwb_99 ]

CMBB will not have too much of a problem with the 500mhz P3. It might not like the 32mb GeForce2 that much. WWB

CMBO / CMBB Crashing Due to Sound Conflicts?
WWB replied to von Lucke's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Have you uninstalled and reinstalled your drivers yet? That might help. WWB -
Definite BUG relating to StalinScenPack.
WWB replied to Cpt Kernow's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Did you let it recombine in the setup phase or during an orders phase? WWB -
Should we have a COMBAT MISSION "FAN FAIRE?"
WWB replied to Franko's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Well, that little meeting we had at Ft. Knox was wonderful. The people were almost as cool as the tanks. I think a sort of CMVention or GrogCon would be a very interesting event. WWB -
Definite BUG relating to StalinScenPack.
WWB replied to Cpt Kernow's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Send the bugged savegame to madmatt, matt@battlefront.com. WWB -
Can't play directly from the CD in CMBB, so you will not have this problem. WWB
-
You can't save a game on the CD-Rom. It tries to write to the CD, which does not work too well. So there are no saves, no autosaves and no custom scenarios. WWB
-
No, beta testers did not cost BFC any money. At least not this one. The only physical "compensation" I recieved was a copy of the game. That probably works out to 5 cents an hour or so. WWB

Random Maps In CMBB - Too Generic?
WWB replied to Vanir Ausf B's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Not to mention the import map feature lets one get a visually appealing and tactically interesting map for your QB. WWB -
They got a lot deadlier to tanks when they got shaped charge ammo (HC in CM terms) in 1942. They are just chucking HE at the monsters hoping to get gun damage or an immobilization. The battle is Katukov Strikes Back if you were wondering. WWB
